This Folio edition, as with all the Folio Books which I have purchased over the years, is superb. I am always impressed by the fine editions published by The Folio Society. They are a pleasure to collect and to read.

A classic of "hard" science fiction that has been imitated by many subsequent authors and film makers. A companion to the Folio edition of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I love the illustrations: they focus, properly I think, on Mankind rather than on the Overlords, especially the splendid cover portrait of Jan Rodricks without printing. The 1989 prologue displays one of Clarke's prime characteristics, as does the novel: his optimism. Beautiful job, FS.
