My experience working at Five Star Tax Resolution was extremely negative. In my opinion, the work environment was hostile, unprofessional, and lacked appropriate confidentiality.

I was terminated the day after I disclosed my medical condition to Human Resources. Since my termination, I have repeatedly requested my employment records. More than two months have passed without receiving them, despite my understanding that employees have rights under California Labor Code § 1198.5 to inspect and receive copies of their personnel records.

Based on what I personally observed during my employment, clients were sometimes sold Offer in Compromise (OIC) services even when they appeared unlikely to qualify. I also observed situations where clients went long periods without communication because no case manager had actually been assigned to their case. When complaints reached management, I believe clients were given inaccurate explanations rather than being told the true reason for the lack of communication. In addition, I saw older cases assigned to case managers only after clients complained about not receiving updates.

I have never worked for a company where I personally felt clients were being misled in the way I observed here. The workplace culture, in my experience, was disorganized, lacked professionalism, and did not maintain employee or client confidentiality to the standard I expected.

I also observed that at least one employee was terminated after information about their criminal history came to light. That raised concerns for me about the company’s hiring and screening practices and whether sufficient safeguards were in place to protect clients’ sensitive personal and financial information.

Overall, I cannot recommend Five Star Tax Resolution based on my personal experience as both an employee and someone who witnessed how client matters were handled.

For transparency, I was never asked to sign, nor did I sign, a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) during my employment.

I had been dealing with IRS tax problems for more than four years and owed over $30,000. During that time, I struggled to get help. Every time I tried calling the IRS, it was extremely difficult to reach someone, and I had previously paid people I found online who promised to help but ended up doing very little after taking my money upfront.

Working with Justin Huerta has been a completely different experience. Before asking me to pay anything, he took the time to review my situation. He called the IRS with me on the phone, helped me understand my case, and explained the options available based on my specific circumstances. That gave me confidence that he was recommending solutions that actually fit my situation.

He is helping me work toward resolving my tax debt, including exploring programs such as Currently Not Collectible status and an Offer in Compromise if I qualify. He was upfront that the process could take six months to a year and set realistic expectations instead of making promises he couldn’t guarantee.

I also appreciated that he worked with me on the cost. As a part-time student with limited income, I explained that I couldn’t afford a large payment. He offered me a reasonable payment plan with affordable monthly payments, which made it possible for me to move forward.

For the first time in years, I feel like I have someone helping me navigate the IRS process with honesty and professionalism. While my case is still ongoing, I finally have a clear plan and hope that I’ll be able to resolve this debt and move forward with my life.

If you’re looking for someone who takes the time to understand your situation and explains your options clearly, I highly recommend Justin Huerta.

My experience with them has been great so far. I have been working with Justin Huerta and he has proven to be very well informed of all tax related matters. He takes the time to explain and also helps guide me with things that I may be unaware of. I will definitely recommend him and the company as a whole to friends and family!

These people have done NOTHING for me I paid $5,500 I wanted a refund after 4 months of receiving nothing. Then told me I can only get $2,000 back. Horrible. Robbed me.
They did not mention nothing in the beginning about not receiving a full refund back if I wasn't satisfied.

They are very unorganized...perhaps getting a bit too big for their britches. Too many chefs in the kitchen so to speak. Spent days gathering all of the requested documents and receive a call weeks later requesting the same documents that were sent on time. Very difficult to get a hold of a live person. Still in the process but very questionable at this point especially given their $12,000 sign-on fee!

Anthony did an amazing job in describing the entire process from atart to finish. Five Star Tax Resolution hasgiven hope that we can get our situation resolved.

Once they have your $, you will not hear from them. After 6 mos, they finally told me my case was resolved and to pay $3600, which I did. Just got notice in mail that they did NOTHING, and still owe $8800. Watch out for the deflection of"we work with IRS and you must promise to pay all future payments on time,thats how we get your resolution' Just a scam.

I’m incredibly grateful for the team at 5 Star Tax Resolution. Going into this process, I honestly felt like my situation was nothing but obstacles, with no clear light at the end of the tunnel. It was overwhelming, and I wasn’t sure where to turn.

From the very beginning, 5 Star Tax Resolution changed that for me. My husband and I had not filed our taxes in several years because of a family situation that consumed us. We felt like if we didn't file our taxes then the IRS wouldn't know we owed. I called Five Star Tax Resolution in October 2025, I spoke with Kevin Nyugen, settlement officer, to answer a few general questions about my situation. I was then transferred to Wessam Ibrahim, attorney, who instructed us on what we needed to do before they could get involved. I followed his instructions over the next few months and got our previous taxes done and secured our finances with the bank. They were very patient, knowledgeable and seemed to geniunely want to help us!

The next step was to add up all the years owed and share that amount with Kevin. He told me he thought they could help but nothing was ever guaranteed. He shared the step by step process of what they would try do for us with the IRS. We would be required to pay a fee for retaining their services and their assistance negotiating with the IRS.

This is where we are so far. I could not of picked a better company to work with. They never rushed us or made us feel embarrassed of the situation we were in. I could always email them with questions and know I would get a quick response back. If things continue to go this well, we should have a good outcome! This experience has been very pleasant and to have the assurance that we do not have to take on the IRS alone!

Kevin and team have been great with onboarding, getting into the specifics about tax and connecting with the IRS. Kevin and Gabby turnaround things very quickly and efficiently so I’m looking forward to seeing continued momentum with next steps!
