Do NOT join this "bank"!

After 8 months, I have finally managed to close my ailing sister's account and obtain for her the $5,000+ in it. A tiny amount for FCB, but not for her. This dreadful"bank" shows utter contempt for its "valued clients". Avoid it like the plague. It clearly has a cynical policy of stalling any attempt to pay out. We had to pay over $250 just to regain her hard-earned rightful property, and FCBB blandly refused any compensation. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Who is making these decisions - AI?

Went to a car dealership to buy a 2020 used car. We were only going to finance $13,000 after a 20% down payment. We told them we wanted to go with Capital One but the finance manager said he likes to check at least two banks. I wasn't happy that he did that because then it shows up on your credit report for at least 2 years. Capital One immediately offered us a 6.01% interest rate due to a credit score of 785, NO late pays, NO over the limit on any credit card ever, own our home with a ton of equity in it, great annual income, and 30 years of credit history. We got a letter of denial from these incompetents in the mail a week later. I didn't want the dealership to check with any other bank in the first place and now I have to get this insulting letter in the mail. I have NEVER been turned down for a loan in my life. They obviously have AI or people with zero experience making these decisions. Stay away!

There was a fraud alert on my account…

There was a fraud alert on my account and when I called in I got a young lady named Kathy. Kathy was great she was able to see that there was attempted fraud charge and quickly resolve it. She verified updated my address she made sure I got a new card coming out to me. Kathy went over the process. I was truly happy with the experience she sound very knowledgeable she was very pleasant and understanding she too receive a scam text. I had a very good experience when speaking to Kathy it was like talking to one of my kids help me work through my little internet issues lol. I called the customer service line so I believe Kathy is part of customer service not an actual bank my number is 678-876-6177 I'm not sure you may pull my number and see who I spoke with it was for today which is the 11th of April and it was around 2:00 Eastern Time .I was trying to do the survey but for some reason we were disconnected once she hung up the phone so here I am go find Kathy give her a high five Stacey Duncantell

"HORRIBLE" does not even begin to describe just how incompetent and dysfunctional this bank is. STILL WAITING for an online transfer to clear. I was transferred back and fourth FOUR TIMES (branch to customer "service," customer "service" back to the branch, back to customer "service," back to branch). In all that waste of time, not a single answer. No one had the capability of even finding the transfer. I offered to send a screen shot documenting the transfer but was told they can't even manage to receive an email.

Steady decline in service

I had no problem with this bank until they started to acquire other banks. I've been a customer of their since I was 16. In the last year, I had support delete my account, lock me out due to mishearing a question on the phone, and just a general lack of competency with basic updates. I called to update my address and did so online and now 10 months later they are still sending mail to the incorrect address. They are also not notifying me when my bill is due just after it has passed even though all of my account notifications are on. This bank is an embarrassment I wouldn't trust them with your funds any longer. I've moved my funds to a credit union and have gotten exceptional service, better rates, and a much more responsive online platform.

I have two loans with this company

I have two loans with this company. I provided insurance from the first day for both vehicles. They have been charging me insurance from day one. After raising hell with them, they assured me they would credit my account. Not give me back a check for the insurance. They helped themselves to the insurance payment. As of today, 02-19-2026, they still owe me the credit. of about $1475.00. I was told they just got the insurance canceled. So it might be a while until I see the credit. Yet I spoke with them in December, and they confirmed thwy had the insurance certificate from my insurance company.

First citizens bank on 29 in Cville VA

First citizens bank on Old Doninion in Charlottesville VA is an extremely poorly managed bank with lazy irresponsible ignorant tellers and bank associates with zero customer service commitment and skills. Now they set limits on use of Zelle and access to money in accounts. I highly recommend that you avoid this bank. BTW the tellers openly make racist comments - it is so offensive and disrespectful. I am closing all four of my accounts tomorrow.

This bank is shady af.. They have screwed us out of so much money! You get what you spend on the app and when you call what they say does not match what you have in front of you!! They are rude and speak to you like you have no sense of whats going on! We are absolutely changing our bank and whoever reads this would be smart to do so also

I would give them a zero if possible

I would give them a zero if possible. I had my identity stolen. I had been in and out of the hospital 7 times with 7 surgeries in the last 2 years so I was not working and not monitoring my account. It was not until I checked that I found automatic withdrawals from a company that was not real, payments from Cash App that were being paid to myself even though I did not have a Cash App card. I sent all the information to first citizens which refused to restore over 18 thousand dollars they let go through my account. It clearly showed they knew someone was using Cash App to defraud my account as they stopped 4 large amounts but let small ones and payments supposed to be to me be withdrawn. I have contacted the bank several times , filed complaints, reports and still no resolution. My I pad was stolen and that’s where my information was stolen from . It’s very frustrating knowing a bank I been using for 30 years does not care about its customers .what do banks have insurance for if not to cover this type of negligence?

And dime you to death. They are charging me a fee because I deposit too much money in a month??! This is total B S. When I first opened my account, they charged me monthly fees on a free checking account and refused to refund my money. I should have left then.

First Citizens Bank scams the elderly

First Citizens Bank scammed my elderly father into leasing a basic security camera system for $10,000. A system that could have been purchased online for a few hundred dollars. They prey on the elderly and unsophisticated to lease equipment for much more than it could be simply purchased for. These are unscrupulous people. Do business with this unethical bank at your peril.

Been with this bank for 34 years but…

Been with this bank for 34 years but lately it's been extremely difficult to deal with them getting ready to move on to a better bank .they lost there care for the coustermers after coustermers service sucks they canceled my card with out my permission.I have been waiting for a new card for 3 wks and was told it was on the way.there was a time when the bank was on top but if you look at reviews you will see a decline they have lost their way and I don't see the service that built the bank any way my personal experience is to look else where.

Unreliable

Unreliable and unprofessional from several staff. You will be asked for everything and then some for a commercial loan. They will drag it out for weeks and then find a way to say no.

Now they have your information and will begin sending marketing emails, calls, and texts about amazing rates and how they can help.

Stay away from First Citizens Bank, especially Preston.

We recently purchased a used car that, regrettably, was financed through First Citizens. Weeks after purchasing the vehicle, and with the due date fast approaching, I had received ZERO information from them (payment book, account number, etc.) on how to pay, so I called their falsely labeled "customer support" number. There, I learned the following:

1. Some clown, despite having all the information from the contract with the dealer, entered an address and phone number (WHICH WERE NOWHERE ON THE PAPERWORK) from an address we hadn't lived at for over 20 years "explaining" why I hadn't received any payment information.

2. When I pointed out their error, the representative I was talking to was so clueless that I had to demand to speak to a supervisor, who actually managed to get the information changed.

3. When they finally fixed their massive error, I TRIED to set up automatic payments, but was told I couldn't because their system wouldn't allow that UNTIL 30 DAYS AFTER A PHONE NUMBER CHANGE! They entered the incorrect information, then had the outrageous audacity to tell me that they couldn't fix the error in their system without requiring that I wait. That was when I decided to transfer the loan to my credit union, and where the disaster that is First Citizens continued unabated.

4. When I called them to request a standard 15-day payoff letter be emailed to me, the representative I was talking to that day told me that they could mail me one. I told them I didn't want to wait, so I asked how I could have it emailed to me. I was given an email address to make the request, and told it would take a few days to process.

5. Three business days after sending the email, I called AGAIN, and this time the representative was competent enough to call the loan department. He informed me that the letter had been mailed (despite my specifically requesting otherwise), and that the email option I was told to use was ONLY FOR BANKS, DEALERSHIPS, ETC.

That was the last in the string of errors and lies. So far.

If you are foolish enough to do business with First Citizens, expect poor service, lies, miscommunication, and general incompetence on all levels.

Incompetence Rules at First Citizens!

We went to our local branch today to payoff the loan so a competent organization would handle it, and when the teller checked the address on the account, IT STILL SHOWED THE INCORRECT ADDRESS! This, despite assurances that the error had been corrected, and finally receiving a payment book at our current address.

These people either have a system that doesn't update across the entire system, or the loan department only corrected their error on their local system. No matter the reason, the lies and incompetence are stunning.

Thankfully, we are done with these people, and will NEVER do business with them again.

We received our mortgage loan through First Citizens Bank

We received our mortgage loan through First Citizens and it was the biggest hassle we've ever been through. We had to delay closing because the process goes through 4 different people and each time, they wanted more documentation. They hold our accounts, know we have excellent credit and still required statements and information that was way beyond necessary.
