Unable to open account

Unable to open account. The account open process is terrible and emails had to be exchanged to understand why my passport doesn't have my residence info lol.

Hard to get in as a foreigner, then looks practical and easy to use

The new account creation was a bit complex as a foreigner. You need an Italian phone number first, the steps were not as smooth as they should and support was hard to reach, but they've finally stepped in to help and were a lot more responsive after a first contact. Once you're in it looks quite smooth and clean.

I would avoid, there are better ones out there

I opened my Fineco app to find the was some sort of connection problem. it asked for my password which i entered, it wouldn't accept it. I now have to reset it, which is ok as they send you a text message, after many attempts and 3 phone calls i received no text message so my only way on unlocking access to my account is filling out a form and waiting for 10 days for a password to come through the post. I now have no access to my account. They blame the network provider for blocking texts, if this is the case they should sort this out and not tell customer they cannot use their account for 10 days. any other bank would have a better solution than this.

Not as expected

I opened an account after reading many recommendation on Fineco. My overall experience has been good but with a few caveats which I would like to share. Trading in US ETF's is generally not possible. Not entirely Fineco's fault but they are saddled with idiosyncratic bureaucracy imposed by EU's MFiD rules which the American's stick two fingers at. Since US ETF do not issue placement docs, you cannot buy them unless you are a professional investor (with evidence of having transacted over 1/2 million euro's in derivative products). Otherwise, in general, the trading is good and cheap. Some of their web pages display Italian despite choosing English (sack the web developers please). Expect money transfers to take over 48 hours. Clearly not in the 21st century for that. Do I recommend them? Yes - damn site cheaper than UK brokers (as long as you are happy buying Vanguard ETF's in the MIlan exchange in Euro's). If you are happy taking that exchange rate risk, go ahead.

Every transfer takes at least one…

Every transfer takes at least one business day to be in your account.
I also made an ISA transfer where the old provider sent me a receipt that the transfer was completed, but the money is not in my account yet.
The customer service also is useless, but they keep saying that the back office will complete the transfer by the end of the day. There is no way to do it faster.
They also take ages to answer an email or they just ignore them. I have some emails that they never answered.

Disgusting customer service

Disgusting customer service. They have £300 on hold and won't reply to my emails, this is just unbelievable. Live chat is useless as it's only used to provide information for new customers (?), and so is their phone contacts as they can only discuss codes/passwords.
