Where do i start?... they use to be a fantastic brand, i currently own a 2021 fairphone 3 and i'm absolutely not planning on upgrading it.
The reasons? starting from the FP4, they removed the headphone jack on top.
And now, in the big, new model, (FP6) they removed the easy removable battery, instead of making it easier to disassemble they decided to go the opposite way, remove useful stuff add weight and size, and add more screws to remove, in order to change your battery.
Few days ago they informed me that in august my FP3 will be obsolete, so, it'll never receive new updates. and you know what? better this way, i can buy a different brand and say goodbye to this now terrible company.

I bougt a phone from Fairphone-nl, wanted to get out of the google system. The choice was between Fairphone and Volla. I wanted to support a fair trade, so I chose Fairphone.
Well. You can not use this phone if you need access to daily apps To get that, you will need a gmail account. Everyone with a small amount of security knowledge know that this account is the easiest breakable if you want to hack someone.
So - how was it without a gmail account?
In the beginning I was able to connect it to an ordinary server. One night they updated the phone, and next morning I was unable to go online. Both on my home server and on 5G.
I contacted customer service - their answer - we are sorry to hear that, we understand your frustration - you can try this - or that - and so on.
They sent a list of questions that did not match my issues. I tried again. Just like talking to a brick wall.
Bottom line: I lost 750 Euro plus taxes. So much for having a heart for fairness.

Das Unternehmen ist total überfordert mit dem Support. Katastrophe

This was my second Fariphone. I purchased this Fairphone 6 for a trip to the US. Upon entering the US, the phone went into a constant reboot cycle. The solution from support was to turn location off. So many apps require location on in order to function, such as maps and Lyft, etc. I had to buy a new phone while in the US which defeated the purpose of buying the Fairphone in the first place. Now I have two phones, one of which I do not need.

I just received my second replacement battery ordered from Germany just a couple of days ago. The delivery was fast, I was informed by UPS and pinged to say the delivery was complete. The small package was in the post box. (Well done UPS!!)
As to the Fairphone 3 I bought at the beginning of 2020 - it has been dropped many times, recently even into a lake where it completely submerged, was immediately fished out - the back was taken off, battery taken out .. and all was placed in a salty atmosphere for 24 hrs. It survived and still works. Let's see how much longer.
It is surely easier and cheaper to buy a different brand of phone but I stand behind Fairphone's persistent attempts at sustainability and fair trade.

Diese Firma ist das letzte. Mein USB C anschluss an meinen Fairphone 5 ist defekt nach 18 monaten nutzung. Seit mehr als einem einem Monat warte ich nun auf eine antwort von der Firma. Ich wurde Kontaktiert und mein Problem wird als solved abegstempelt!! Allerdings habe ich bis jetzt kein ersatzteil bekommen. Diese Firma zu Kontaktieren ist auch fast unmöglich. Eine Firma die ein Faires Handy verkaufen will soll auch Fair zu seinen Kunden sein. Aber sobald man diesen Schrott für 600 euro gekauft hat wir man nicht mehr Fair behandelt. Lasst alle die Finger von dieser Firma oder besser gesagt von den Smartphones!!!!
UPDATE Die Firma hat mir geantwortet: Sie werden kein ersatzteil per Garantie versenden, wenn ich ein ersatzteil will soll ich es kaufen!!! Um das USB C port repariert zu bekommen müsste ich mein Smartphone einsenden und sie würden es reparieren. Eine Frechheit für so eine Firma die sich FAIR nennt!!!!

UPDATE vom 31.07.2025
So jetzt habe ich mir dann ein neues USB C port gekauft bei Fairphone installiert und es funktoniert wieder. Es ist traurig dass so eine Firma nicht im stande ist solch ein Teil als Garantie zu ersetzen obwohl das Smartphone erst 17 Monate alt ist.
Und der Support ist sowieso unterirdisch schlecht.

This company is the worst. My USB C port on my Fairphone 5 is defective after 18 months of use. I have been waiting for over a month for a response from the company. I was contacted, and my problem is being labeled as solved!! However, I have not received a replacement part yet. Contacting this company is almost impossible. A company that wants to sell a fair phone should also be fair to its customers. But once you have bought this junk for 600 euros, you are no longer treated fairly. Everyone should stay away from this company or better said, from the smartphones!!!!UPDATE The company responded: They will not send a replacement part under warranty; if I want a replacement, I should buy it!!! To get the USB C port repaired, I would have to send in my smartphone, and they would repair it. It's outrageous for a company that calls itself FAIR!!!!UPDATE from July 31, 2025:

So now I bought a new USB C port, installed it at Fairphone, and it works again. It is sad that such a company is not able to replace such a part under warranty even though the smartphone is only 17 months old. And the support is anyway extremely bad. STAY AWAY FROM THIS JUNK.

Ik heb al jarenlang mijn Fairphone 4 en ben er dolsblij mee! Het voelt goed om bij te dragen aan duurzame ontwikkeling en eerlijke compensatie en betaling aan mensen in ontwikkelingslanden. Onlangs kwamen er door een ongelukje barsten in mijn scherm. Ik heb toen een nieuw scherm besteld en dat ging razendsnel. Installatie is supermakkelijk zonder derden te hoeven te betrekken.

Ik heb in mijn leven nog nooit zo slechte telefoon gehad. Duurzaam past goed bij mijn bedrijfsvoering daarom de keuze voor deze telefoon
Aan het begin leuk maar een maand later ging het al bergafwaarts met de leuke upedates de telefoon werd alleen maar slechter
Touchscreen werkt slecht en ook veranderen icoontjes spontaan van uiterlijk en krijg ik die niet terug veranderd.
afgelopen week slecht kunnen laden tot 1 procent of 14 procent ik vermoede de aansluiting punt in de telefoon en niet de accu.
Ik ben bij telefoon zaak geweest en die bevestigde mijn vermoeden oplaadpunt stuk .
Ook de cammera en de baterij laat te wensen over , halve dag met werken en dan is hij leeg , sorrij dat is niet acceptabel . Geen mogelijkheid tot kabeloos laden een telefoon uit 2023??
Ik sta volledig achter het principe van fair trade, maar kan er niet op vertrouwen dat ik gewoon normaal in nood mee kan bellen of gebeld kan worden en dat lijkt mij toch een basis princiepe.

Ik heb de fairphone 3 nu al meer dan 4 jaar, en hij laadde steeds langzamer op. De klantenservice heeft me vlot en vriendelijk geholpen. Uiteindelijk heb ik een bottom module besteld en zelf vervangen. Ik ben niet enorm technisch, maar als een beetje handig ben, kan je de modules dus zelf vervangen, dat vindt ik top! Nu laadt mijn mobiel weer lekker snel op.

Vriendelijke klantenservice, ze hebben met goed geholpen. Aankoop via website ging makkelijk. Snel geleverd. En ik ben tevreden met de Fairphone 4. Uiteraard is de camera op de Fairphone niet zo goed als de Samsung die ik had. Maar dat weet je als je een Fairphone koopt (recensies/test filmpjes youtube). Ik sta achter de filosofie van Fairphone. Hopenlijk verbeteren ze de camera op de volgende edities.
