Our trip to Peru, booked through Secret Escapes and managed by Encounter Latin America, has been a huge disappointment. Every hotel has fallen below the standard promised – from poor service in Lima and Ica to a basic, noisy stay in Nasca with no planned excursions. The final stop in Arequipa has been the worst: our room at Maison d’Isle has damp, mould, and loud music all night. We are exhausted after long journeys and have received no response at all to our complaints. This company has shown no care or accountability. I would strongly discourage anyone from booking with Encounter Latin America.

We made a trip trough Peru in june/ july 2025 via a dutch travel agency Fox. Local partner is Encounter Latin America. I am very positively surprised by the quality and the personal touch of the organisation. Local Guides were very good and really know what they talk about. Even before the trip we had some questions answered very clearly. During the trip there is contact by informing you how the trip proceeds, if everything is oke. I feels like they really care. Highly recommended, Would do it any time again when traveling to Latin America. Thx!

I went on a 2 day Amazon tour with a stay at Huasquila lodge. My guide Marcelo Guerra was my driver to the lodge and back to Quito. He was excellent. A safe driver and wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable about his country and gave information in a conversational way talking as if we were friends and guest and guide. He answered all my questions in detail if I wanted more info without sounding like a recording or like he was reading from a manuscript. On the Amazon boat tour he was very attentive, I require some help with stairs and getting in and out of a boat he was very patient and offered help when needed. He was always available if I needed any assistance. I would definitely recommend him as a guide and driver and am making plans to visit Equador again and will definitely contact him for more tours.
