They took 5$ out of my account every week until it reached 105$ which it said once it reached 105$ I wouldn’t have to pay anymore, but somehow after that I was getting charged twice a month a 8$ fee, then after about 6 months it was 8$ a month fee, I’ve been paying 8$ a month after that for 2 years, and now I owe late payments, empower tilt is the worst they have stolen a ton of money out of my account

’m still having trouble registering my Empower 401K account through my employer. I called Empower at 855-756-4738 and spoke with a representative named Peaches. I explained that the representative I spoke with in August 2025 told me a PIN would be mailed to me, but I never received it. Peaches stated that Empower does not issue PINs at the request of the employer and offered to create one using my information, which I provided.
I was on the call for 17 minutes without any real assistance. When I asked for the issue to be escalated and requested a supervisor, she remained silent for several minutes before the call transferred to an automated message. She also told me I was being unprofessional for requesting to speak with a supervisor, even though I’m still unable to register my 401K account online.

I am being robbed by empower retirement. Empower is so difficult I closed my account with them in July. It is November 1st and I still have not received my principal investment. They have a ready list of excuses as to why they need to repeatedly hold my money. "We don't do business with that bank" was one of them. I went down a small list of banks that I have accounts at and surprise surprise they don't do business with Any of the banks where I hold accounts. So I opened a.bank account at the bank they told me they do business with, Bank of America, and they never transferred my money. Then the account was closed for in activity. I requested to have a check mailed to me. They mailed the check to a defucnt address that I haven't lived at for years, and ignored my current and updated address. Now they are telling me they can't mail me a check because my "new address" may be fraudulent and they will not accept any form of address verification, ie; utility bills, voter registration, the address printed on my driver license, copy of my lease, nothing. I am convinced that I will never receive the money I invested with empower. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

I received a paper mailing from them saying "your retirement plan sponsor has chosen Empower". I received nothing from the legitimate investment company managing my IRA. So,I am checking here which confirms my suspicions. I think they need to be investigated for scamming or fraud.

I had a poor experience with Tilt
I had a poor experience with Tilt. The app incorrectly shows I’m paid monthly when I’m actually paid bimonthly, and customer support could not fix it. The chatbot kept repeating the same canned response with no option to reach a real person, which was frustrating. Even when I asked for positive reviews, the bot admitted it couldn’t provide any real ones. Tilt may claim to expand access to fair credit, but my experience shows they need to greatly improve accuracy and provide real customer support before I could recommend them.

Empower was a wonderful service however when they decided to rebrand thats when all of the trouble started. I would advise anyone that is unsatisfied to close their account because I can gaurantee with all of the issues its not going to get any better

I too wish I could give a negative number. The average time I spend on their customer service call is 48 minutes. They make the most simple withdrawal or rollover request extremely complicated. You first start out by talking to someone who is obviously in another country and then get passed around to several people because no one knows the most basic information about requests made. They bring up rules that prevent you from withdrawing your money even when you are in retirement age I believe so they can retain the funds a little longer in order to get a fee. If there is a problem with your request for a withdrawal they do not tell you but you are forced to call after a long delay to be informed of some rule they have changed or more information they need that was not asked of in the form they provided. Some employees act concerned by giving you their direct number when you tell them of the 45 minute hold times but when you call that number they never pick up nor do they return your call when you leave a message. I sent in my rollover request on July 18 and as of today August 14th my retirement has not been rolled over.Empower is a horrible organization.

I haven’t used that account and basically a year I borrowed from it in 2024 and yet I’m still being build a monthly subscription that I had no idea on top of the fact that when I try to cancel my account I’m told I owe money and it will be removed from my bank account when II’ve only use the service once that’s ridiculous! I shouldn’t be charged for keeping a service that I don’t use or want. My loan that i used months agai was fully paid

Incompetence, no support, and unreliable
The app requested that i complete an unwarranted two factor authentication. The information in the 2fa was not accurate as i no lomger had access to that number and email. Their customer support refused to answer calls or emails to fix their issue.

Was approved for $400 advance. They have bank info but state i have to add my bank card. Problem is their app has a glitch that won't allow you to add. They are aware of glitch but have no eta on it. Must take out empower bank account and
move direct deposit to get advance. They lied for hours before I finally realized its a scam to get you to open their bank account and send your deposits to them. RUN!!!
Awful
Awful, all around awful... I am disabled, recently got out of the hospital to a mess! Empower autodebited my bank account. They got paid, but I got an overdraft fee. I communicated with some 8-10 people at Empower, the last one, "Lord", asked for a screenshot of my account, but never got back to me. This has been going on for 5 days, with no response from Empower. The overdraft had a domino effect on my bank account, resulting in additional overdrafts. None of this would have happened, but after months of successful repayments, Empower dropped my advance limit from $200 to $75! I now have 3 overdraft fees of $35, and a negative bank balance of over $395!!

This is a 5 star fake reviews company or 1 star company. Read reviews!! There is major complaints of poor customer service, funding issues, and plain old simple problems on their end.

Worst platform ever
Worst platform ever. I’ve been in a repaying mode for 5 days, albeit my repayment posted 4 days ago and I was informed my draw was available 4 days ago after 3:00 PM. It was not so I called the company got connected to an overseas foreigner ( of course) and was told it takes 5 days for a payment to post. This company either has not enough money or so short staffed they can’t even provide a sound service.
This company is delay and a waste. If you’re going to provide advances and provide a message to customers THEN HONOR YOUR WORD! Or get out of business, UGH!!!!! FRAUD!!!!

I started with Personal Capital, which was purchased by Empower. Worst. Custodian. Ever. Not only after several years was the intergration not done, I was given incorrect information and delays when I decided to move to another custodian. Employer had them as 401(k) provider, they were terrible. Avoid if possible.

I contacted Empower customer service and they keep sending auto bot letters saying they working on it. This has been going on for weeks. I guess I have to cancel my account - if I can figure out how. No customer service / no engineers.
