They cover nothing
I just started a new job and we have Empirx-it took multiple months for a preapproval of a drug I had been on for many years. Even when it was approved the drug is costing $1700, with my insurance through my old employer it was $125. The plans I had between the two employers were identical (just different pharmacy benefits managers) so this isnt a deductible thing. I am actively researching any drug coverage plan for next year that does not involve Empirx and just chalk up this half a year with them as a loss.
Suspicious
Very strange and arbitrary interview process, 6 rounds of interviews with no measurable metrics, and not using modern technology enterprise technologies.
Worst company every
Worst company every. If you need a prescription, don't count on this pharmacy. They'd rather kill you than provide you with medication that is needed. Used to have Elixir, our company switched to this awful company. Be prepared to have nothing but problems.
Had to pay thousands of $ due to constant mishaps
There has been an insane amount of finger-pointing between my doctor's office and EmpriRx that has caused me to literally be on over 20 hours of support calls trying get pre-auth for my medications. For my first cycle of treatments, I had to pay over $5000 out of pocket because they kept messing up on my pre-auths and the pharmacy kept getting error codes. They told me to submit a reimbursement request later, and I got only $298 back because they said that they would only reimburse my copay amount for anything that I paid in cash. It makes no sense that they would only reimburse my copay amounts since I was supposed to pay those copays if I got proper pre-auth. They should be reimbursing everything outside of the copay amount. I just started another cycle of treatments, and my pre-auths expired by the time I ordered a refill. They said they were waiting on my doctor, but my doctor said that they haven't received any faxes from them. This is at least the third time that they've had to clarify the phone and fax numbers.
This company deserves (-10)…
This company deserves (-10) stars!!!!!!! Absolutely the worst RX company ever!!!!! Refused to fill my medication after my Dr jumped through hoops for prior authorization. They are completely useless!!!!!
No customer service, can't get a call from the person that is assigned to us.
I talk to a representative name Cheng…
I talk to a representative name Cheng and he went for me beyond on customer service. On a health issue that's been going on almost 4 months. I didn't understand why the doctor or pharmacy didn't contact me about the medicine. It's been a back and for thing. And Cheng step up for me and restore my peace...not did he perform customer service but made sure I get my medicine. My pharmacy just texted me letting me now know that my medicine is being prepare. Thank you Cheng!!!
Can't get critical medication needed
My husband needs a very critical quality of life medication. EmpiRx approved it medically but not financially and it's a deductible exempt medication and not afforable in any way. I have been working with 2 care coordinators, a case manager, a PAL, the doctor's office, the pharmacy, and the manufacturer of the drug to try to get this pushed through. 3 weeks have passed and we still don't have an answer on this medication that he should never be without. We have a young family with a newborn that need their daddy to be in the best physical shape as possible. We already have a devastating diagnoses and now he can't even get the drugs he needs. This is frustrating to my core and evil on their end. Shame on you, EmpiRx!
Worst prescription plan ever
Of all the Rx plans I’ve ever had, they are the absolute worst. For different reasons each time (monthly) I’ve tried to refill or get a new prescription, I’ve been met with random odd policies: won’t fill scheduled drug prescription by mail without an MD signature, refuses to cover a generic at a different dose, and is severely lacking in adequate and timely communication.
All of my prescriptions are generic and reasonably priced. The majority of the time i just end up paying the Single Care discount and eating the difference.
The only drug that is consistently covered, ironically is the same price as Single Care.
I’ve given up requesting 3 month mail order refills, because they don’t communicate on time or at all. I end up paying out of pocket at a local pharmacy after running out.
The amount I pay monthly for the plan is more than the difference paid for Single Care.
Take your money and run, or at least shop around for a company that won’t give you migraines.
Rep said my med is covered
Rep said my med is covered. Got prior auth, suddenly not covered. I need legal representation. I will be long gone, thats what they count on, but i would like money for my kids. They lied, i cant get what i need, and am not allowed to unenroll. No. I will be gone, but i want a lawyer to make them pay
Worst ever Rx coverage
The worst Rx coverage I’ve ever had in my life. They take forever to do a prior auth, their systems don’t always work (for a pharmacy to check coverage), and they’ve been overcharging and refusing to cover meds that are on the formulary. They literally refused a brand drug, said I had to try 2 from a list, and then are refusing to cover a generic from the list they told my doctor was approved! I have an annual deductible + high copay for brand drugs (necessary if the generic is not reliably available) and when I picked it up after a 2 week wait on PA, I was charged $248 instead of $109! A friend on the same plan had to wait a month for a PA. Unbelievable.
They went the extra mile for me
The representative took the time to get my prescription to me on time after I left my prescription in the hotel after traveling for work. The effort the representative made for me did not go unnoticed!
Horrible company
Horrible company, require endless doctors visits just to continue to get approval for drugs you've taken for years. Their website is antique and the e-pharmacy they use is in the middle of nowhere and somehow has even more ancient systems.
They deserve less than zero stars
They deserve less than zero stars. They suck. They deny everything.
Ridiculously old-fashioned system
Ridiculously old-fashioned system. Confusing. No idea how to connect them to my doctor using the software. Forms must be send by mail or fax. Stay away from them.
This place is horrid
This place is horrid. Our company just switched to them and they are slow and inefficient. That's not a good combo when you need meds. They don't work with you or your doctor. Clearly shows where their customers land.
Terrible Company
Terrible Company, they wanted a prior authorization about a month ago for mounjaro. so my dotor sent it to empirx and they denied it and said they needed more info from my doctor. I heard nothing for a couple weeks so I called them and the lady with empirx said people are just trying to get it for weight loss and am I even a diabetic and yes I am. But WOW. They said my doctor didnt send in more info of which they did and denied again. I hope the Teamsters Union will get rid of them for a legit company. I see many many bad reveiws looks like it the norm for Empirx. They need zero stars.
I agree they don’t even deserve zero…
I agree they don’t even deserve zero stars if I could. They are the most frustrating company I’ve ever dealt with. 3 calls for a patient finally gave up and did everything via fax. Absolutely ridiculous and worst customer service ever
They deserve ZERO stars
They deserve ZERO stars. They are the absolute worst. They deny every medication, even life saving cancer treatments and type-1 diabetic insulin pumps. They require prior authorization for any medication and drag their feet with every single prescription, until the patient gives up and pays out of pocket for the medication. I have had to deal with them for the past 3 years because our school district stuck us with them to save money.
I would give them zero stars if I could
I would also give them zero stars if I could. They are the most frustrating company I’ve ever dealt with. I prefer getting my meds at my local pharmacy, but No, I have to order by mail. HAVE to. And, there is zero communication on their end. If there is an issue they don’t call, they don’t email, they don’t put a message in the portal, they snail mail you. So, there I am expecting my meds to come and instead I get a letter. Now I have to deal with the issue before they send them and not going to get them
Before I run out. To top it all off, I have a medication that needs to be refrigerated and they insist I get it by mail because it’s for long term use. The amount of environmental waste getting this small package to me cold is outrageous! Cardboard on cardboard, in cardboard in styrofoam with ice packs all in more cardboard with plastic bubble wrap, and they charge me over 3 times as much as my pharmacy, what’s up with that? They will be getting a phone call tomorrow morning. I am going to insist they allow me to pick it up locally. Ridiculous! Did I mention they’re frustrating?!
The Absolute Worst
I was forced to use this company due to my husband’s health insurance policy change. Thankfully, they have come to their senses and realized that this is the most incompetent and horrific company anyone could possibly deal with, and we are parting ways.
With that being said, the agents lack empathy, knowledge, and general intelligence. They deny claims just because they can. The majority of the agents lack the skills to run an order for a Happy Meal, let alone ensure confidence in their ability to adjust claims or make necessary overrides.
They do not communicate via any kind of “secure portal”, they use a fax machine. This does not sit well with me, and it shouldn’t with anyone. This is not fully HIPAA compliant, as we cannot be sure who has access to a shared fax machine, whether it is in office or remote-at home.
I have gone 3 months without a medication I have been on for 11 years because EmpiRX Health has stated they have not received information from my doctor. (I confirmed it was sent twice- by FAX).
Here are my takeaways for anyone who takes regular medication, needs a high quality prescription plan & values great customer service:
1. If you happen to be on a policy covered by an employer and EmpiRX is the provider, you may be better off paying out of pocket for your own policy. LOOK INTO THIS. The amount you’ll pay out of pocket for a couple prescriptions in the claims they deny will likely offset the difference if it is more expensive anyway.
2. If you are looking into a plan using EmpiRX, RUN.
