Incompetence and corruption
My wife and I had a horrible experience flying Egyptair. We flew from Frankfurt to Cairo with no problems but when we flew out of Cairo to London the problems started. At check-in the agent said there was a problem with my wife’s ticket. The name didn’t exactly match the passport. Actually the name did match but two were out of order on the ticket. The agent told us that we would have to have United Airlines reissue the ticket with the name in the correct order. We were four hours early for our flight so we called United and they were not able to reissue that portion of the flight because, obviously it’s a different airline. The agent was rude and told us that we would not be able to board and would have to rebook the flight the next day. We did miss our flight and we then went to the 24 hr. sales office. By the way that office was closed for almost two hours right when we needed them because of Ramadan. When my wife explained the issue to them they looked at the passport and the ticket, shrugged and told us that we should have been issued a boarding pass. The 24 hr customer service desk was also closed due to Ramadan at that time as well. We believe it’s a good chance that the original check-in agent was soliciting a bribe to allow us to board. I have no proof but everything looks like that is what happened. No one was willing to help us and it cost us $3000 to rebook. The next day we arrived five hours early and again we had problems. A different check-in agent asked us for our Electronic Travel Authorization from the UK. We told him that we were not leaving Heathrow Airport and had a connection so we didn’t need one. He said his “system” would not allow it. He did ask for a supervisor to help. After 1.5 hrs of nervous pacing, he showed up and spent over an hour trying to fix the issue. He was finally able to treat that leg of our flight as a stand alone ticket and we were able to board. During these two days he was the only person that treated us with any empathy. The flight itself, flight attendants and food were fine but the check-in agents need to be trained in customer service. We will not fly with Egyptair again and I advise others to find another airline as well.
Best airline in terms of punctuality…
A very bad company; they exploit the situation. The ticket price, which was 1000, is now 4000. It's a scam and a fraud.
Embarrassing experience in business…
Embarrassing experience in business class on Egyptair from Cairo to Copenhagen. Plane was filthy and old and despite a fairly good service by the cabin staff the plane itself was in a terrible condition. It might be suitable for short haul flights but maybe an A 321 might be a better option and not some rundown 737

I travelled 12 times with Egyptair. All of them were great. Comfortable seats and nice meals. However, i was let down one time, while i was traveling back to Cairo from Barcelona. The air conditioner was terribly cold. I was freezing and I didn't know what to do. I asked for a blanket, but the air hostess said they ran out of them. The customer care sent me an email to ask me about my experience and i told them in detail. They apologized and offered me a discount on my next flight. Overall my experience with them was good.

Me perdieron el equipaje el 24/07/2024 en los vuelos Bcn-Cairo-Addis Ababa. Hice todos los pasos que me indicaron para hacer la reclamación. Me contestaron que la oficina de Madrid me contactaría para compensarme y hoy día 27/2/26 no me han contestado. He mandado cientos de E-mails, decenas de llamadas, mensajes ... y nada. No les importa en absoluto y no compensan por algo tan claro como una pérdida de equipaje.

Una empresa como Egyptair no puede complacerse en mantener un servicio como el que está ofreciendo últimamente: deficiente; retrasos de varias horas en el vuelo de Luxor-Cairo y cambios de vuelo con largas horas, sin información alguna, y sin atención en la madrugada del 23/02/2026, y pérdida de equipaje en el vuelo Cairo-Madrid del mismo día. En el aeropuerto del Cairo junto con mis compañeros nos vimos arrastrados literalmente, arreados como ganado por varios empleados con extrema urgencia, angustiados, por los infinitos pasillos del aeropuerto cairota, hasta el punto de llegar a la extenuación, la mayoría de los viajeros sobrepasando los setenta años. Personalmente, en un momento perdí el enlace con mis compañeros, estando al punto de perder el avión. Los vuelos eran el MS61 en Luxor MS2753 el original, y el del cambio el MS753. Cómo conocen perfectamente, el turismo si no se cuida, acabarán ustedes perdiendo el atractivo por el hermoso legado de una cultura milenaria, como la suya, patrimonio de la humanidad no solo de Egipto. Está es la queja de un viajero que casi todos los años desde 1992 viaja a su país y disfrutaba de sus servicios.

Llevo viajando a Egipto desde 2003 y ayer tuve la peor experiencia imaginable con una aerolínea y esta fue con Egyptair. El día 23 de febrero 2026, el vuelo MS61 de Luxor a El Cairo se retrasó dos horas y esperamos a que lo solucionaran para poder regresar a Madrid. La espera fue angustiosa, ya que no sabíamos cuándo podríamos regresar. Perdimos la conexión MS2753 y solo pudimos embarcar en el MS753, llegando a Madrid dos horas después.
Cuando llegué a Madrid, mi maleta estaba perdida y no se sabía donde podría estar. Presenté una reclamación, inicialmente, se la dejaron en El Cairo, pero no lo confirmaron.
Es una pena que pasen estas cosas, porque tengo muy pocas ganas de volver a volar con Egyptair y visitar Egipto como lo he hecho habitualmente estos últimos años.
Espero que mi maleta aparezca y sobre todo, que se difumine la desagradable experiencia vivida.
Pleasant enough but basic - left feeling uncared for
Everything was relatively on time. We flew London to Cairo, then two days later Cairo to Luxor, and finally Luxor back to London. We had minor delays, but nothing major and no real communication about either.
On the flight from London to Cairo we were served food options: chicken or salmon.
On the flight from Luxor we were served food options: chicken or beef.
No vegetarian option, unless booked - and as I went through a travel consultant I wasn’t sure.
The flight from Luxor home was the worst:
- The cabin was very warm
- We got mango juices shortly after takeoff, but then nothing (no food or drink offered) until 4 hours into the flight!
With two and a half hours left of the flight, I asked for some water… the response from the air stewardess was: “yes, we are bringing something now.”
Then about 15-minutes later they started to serve food! We were served a small water on the tray and fizzy drinks and juice. There was no extra water until after the food and tea/ coffee rounds were done.
I could hear people around saying how hungry and thirsty they were…
My Expectation for a 6-hour flight: Food and water for guests about 2-3 hours into the flight, with another offer of drinks again later. Especially when the temperature is so high.
The customer service was poor. They were pleasant enough, but were not very attentive to our needs, and we had zero communication from the cockpit, unlike other airlines. I wonder if this is a language/cultural barrier, or something else, but we left feeling very uncared for - even as we walked off the plane we had staff members with their backs to us doing paperwork instead of saying goodbye and “come again” …well after that, you can rest assured we won’t be coming again!

Der Flug sollte am 17.06.2025 von Amman nach Düsseldorf über Kairo stattfinden. Er wurde ein Tag vorher storniert. Bis heute warte ich auf mein Geld. Mehr als 30 Emails geschrieben und mehrere male bei der Hotline angerufen.
Nie wieder. Ich fliege mehrmals im Jahr aber diese Airline werde ich nie wieder unterstützen.
Due bagagli smarriti, riconsegnati dopo tre giorni, ma solo una pratica gestita: la seconda totalmente ignorata, NESSUN RIMBORSO
La mia esperienza con EgyptAir è stata purtroppo molto deludente.
Dopo il nostro volo con scalo tra Roma e Johannesburg - 8 DICEMBRE (più di 2 mesi fa), entrambi i bagagli sono stati smarriti e ci sono stati riconsegnati soltanto tre giorni dopo l’arrivo. Questo ha comportato spese, disagi e la necessità di aprire due PIR distinti, uno per ciascuna passeggera coinvolta.
Da quel momento è iniziata una gestione estremamente frustrante:
EgyptAir ha lavorato solo una delle due pratiche, inviando il relativo Discharge Form, mentre la seconda pratica è stata completamente ignorata, nonostante fosse stata aperta correttamente e riferita allo stesso identico disservizio.
Il servizio globale “My Baggage” non ha mai risposto ai miei solleciti, nemmeno dopo molte email.
Ho contattato anche l’ufficio EgyptAir in Italia e ho ricevuto solo chiarimenti parziali, senza che venisse fornita alcuna informazione concreta sul secondo reclamo, né il modulo necessario per chiuderlo.
La situazione è resa ancora più assurda dal fatto che il Discharge Form inviato per la prima pratica contiene una dichiarazione per cui il passeggero afferma di non avere ulteriori richieste relative allo stesso evento: impossibile firmarlo quando una pratica su due non viene né riconosciuta né elaborata.
Il risultato è stato:
-comunicazione quasi inesistente,
-totale mancanza di coordinamento,
-impossibilità di ottenere la gestione corretta di due semplici reclami,
-settimane di attesa senza risposte concrete.
Un disservizio già spiacevole — come ricevere i bagagli con tre giorni di ritardo — è stato reso ancora più pesante da una gestione che non ha garantito trasparenza, supporto né attenzione.
Mi auguro sinceramente che EgyptAir migliori il proprio servizio di assistenza, perché a oggi sto ancora aspettando che la seconda pratica venga finalmente presa in carico e gestita correttamente, come avrebbe dovuto avvenire da subito.

Retard retard retard, ce n est plus une surprise. TOUS LES VOLS en Égypte é domestiques sont en retard en permanence. Je ne jette pas la pierre a Égypte Air qui dépend simplement des tours de contrôle en fait. C est pour cela que je mets la moyenne.

We flew from Manchester to Egypt in January 2026, returning in Feb.
Having read the reviews I'd feared the worst. But everything was just fine.
Boarding: i think they miss a trick not boarding in groups and this could avoid delays.
Punctuality: landed about an hour late outbound and 30mins late inbound. Nothing to unusual.
Entertainment: never been on a single aisle aircraft (neo a321 i think) with an entertainment system. It's a fairly limited selection but I think you'll find something to keep you entertained for 5hrs. Sound and picture quality not great, and the movie i watched mysteriously had the main action sequence cut, but it beats similar length flights to canaries etc with EasyJet and Ryanair. There is also free WiFi for messaging.
Food and drink: we had pre-ordered vegetarian food which was easy on manage your booking and it was fine. Again for price and compared to budget airlines more than I was expecting (egypt generally is not good for vegetarian food. Also if you hadn't pre-ordered there did not appear to be a vegetarian option). They have soft drinks but no booze, which was as expected.
Staff: seemed fine to me, the other reviews on here complaining of them hiding and doing nothing did not really ring true.
So either we got lucky, or there is some exaggeration on here. Its not BA, Emirates, Etihad etc, but neither is it at that price point.
Catastrophic
Catastrophic airline, to avoid.
We booked 6months in advance for flights Paris to Cairo in business and several internal flights. No one single was on time ! And worst that all our Business places were attributed to some other people (VIP Egyptians it seems) and we had to fly economy without any compensation. No reply, no excuses.
Better to take a low cost, at least it is direct, on time and clean.

Flight MS 973 from Cairo to Delhi on 14 February 2026 was an A320, with cramped space. We paid full fare but received low cost airline facilities. This is almost like fooling customers.
EGYPTAIR did not build the pyramids!
Copenhagen to Cairo: 2 hours late. Cairo to Luxor: 2 1/2 late. Hurghada to Cairo: 1 1/2 late, therefore missing our connecting flight to Copenhagen. So we had to go via Istanbul and arrived 9 hours late. Complete chaos to ‘fix’ things every time. Everybody working in silos within silos. Everything seems to be a new experience for them, there are no learnings. ‘Funny’ enough I could a bit later on see that the flight to Copenhagen had been delayed with 1 h 15 minutes, so we would have been able to make it! But although we talked with 2 different customer service crews, they didn’t even look into that option. No way these Egyptians built the pyramids, the sphinx, and the other amazing master pieces. Must have been a completely different culture. But the flight crews are very nice, so that will give them the 1 star. Never again!

Forfærdeligt selvskab. Jeg tog med min familie 3 fly: cph-cai, cai-lux, hrg -Cai. ALLE flyene var forsinkede. Da vi skulle hjem, skulle vi med et fly fra Hurghada til Cairo og så videre til København. Flyet til Cairo var forsinket med 1,5 time, så vi ville ikke kunne nå vores forbindelse til København og derfor komme hjem kl 23 i stedet for 14:30. Personalet vidste ikke selv hvordan de skulle håndtere situationen, hvilket ikke hjalp på stemningen.
Jeg ville anbefale at vælge et andet selvskab fremfor dette.

Una compagnia pessima che ha reso i nostri spostamenti in egitto un incubo. Tutti i voli in ritardo. Abbiamo perso la connessione internazionale. Abbiamo dovuto prenotare un albergo e partire il giorno successivo. Tutto a nostre spese Ed anche le tratte interne con ritardo di ore.
Assistenza in aeroporto e post vendita totalmente assente. Dopo più di un mese ancora attendo una risposta

Hold jer langt væk fra Egypt Air. Det er den dårligste service du overhovedet kan tænke dig til, nej det er nærmest umuligt at forestille sig at et selskab yder så dårlig service!
Flyet fra København er ALTID, som i ALTID forsinket mellem 1 og 3 timer til Cairo. Kundeservice prøver ihærdigt at fortælle dig, at du har været uheldig og at de aldrig har oplevet forsinkelser på den strækning. Jeg har aldrig oplevet andet, så vi er åbenbart placeret på 2 forskellige planeter……
Vi rejste til Egypten i midten af november, ca. 5 graders varme i DK. På grund af forsinkelsen fra København, måtte vi løbe gennem Cairo lufthavn til indenrigsflyet til Hurghada, vildt stressende. Vi nåede flyet men det gjorde vores bagage ikke….
Da vi ankommer til Hurghada bliver vi trukket til side en medarbejder fra Egypt Air (det stod der ihvertfald på hans skjorte). Han siger, at vores bagage nok kommer om lidt og vi står i lufthavnen til bagagemedarbejderne lukker alle lugerne hvor bagagen bliver sendt ind af og alligevel synes han liiiiige vi skal vente lidt længere.
Til sidst giver han op og siger, at vores bagage tilsyneladende ikke er med (hurra, det havde vi sgu selv regnet ud). Vi skal stille os i kø og han skal have vores tlf.nr og hoteloplysninger og så lover han, at vi vil få leveret vores bagage næste morgen, fordi der ankommer et fly fra Cairo tidlig morgen.
Næste morgen hører vi intet og der kommer heller ikke noget bagage…….
Hotellet forsøger 6 gange at ringe til Egypt Air i Egypten, telefonen ringer bare ud og det er umuligt at få fat i en medarbejder.
Vi ringer selv til Egypt Air i Danmark (det koster 24 kr. I minuttet at ringe fra Egypten) for at få i en telefonsvarer, der siger vi har åbent på mandag kl. 10, fedt når det er lørdag formiddag!
Vi tager en taxa ud til lufthavnen fordi vi intet har hørt. Og efter 1,5 time, lykkedes det os at få en medarbejder fra Egypt Air i tale. Han siger bagagen ikke er kommet endnu, men at hans kollega, vil skrive direkte til os og vil også sende os papirer som vi kan bruge til forsikring.
Vi fik vores bagage leveret lørdag aften kl. 21.45, næsten et døgn forsinket og vi havde intet bade- eller sommertøj i 30 graders varme.
Vi synes vores tab er:
- Et mistet feriedøgn (vi tog fri fra fra arbejde fredag for at have 8 hele dage i solen, men det første døgn gik med at lede efter vores bagage mm)
- Udgifter til tlf-opkald til Egypt Air.
- Udgifter til taxa
Vi sendte en klage til Egypt Air d. 25/11 med krav om ovenstående udgifter.
I bagage claim behandler de åbenbart kun de sager 1 gang om ugen , for hver lørdag fik jeg en mail, med noget som de ikke mente var udfyldt korrekt. Eller at de ikke kunne finde ud af at omregne USD til EGP, fordi noget var betalt med den ene valuta og anden med den anden.
Vi har rykket dem og rykket dem og rykket igen og igen, men de leger gemmeleg og vi er ikke informeret om legen…..
En dag ringer en af deres medarbejder og er meget glad hun har fået lov til, at give os 50 USD for vores dårlige service, jeg skal bare lige sende kopi af pas og mine kontooplysninger. Som jeg siger 315 kr., hvis det er det de synes et tabt feriedøgn for 2 voksne er værd, så synes jeg sgu de skal købe kage for hele beløbet og sætte danske flag på bordet og fejre hvor dårligt de behandler deres kunder…… Og samtidig skulle jeg frasige mig yderligere klager.
En af undskyldninger for ikke at udbetale erstatning er, at vi ikke har fået et PIR-dokument, nuvel det var en Egypt Air ansat der valgte iKKE at give os det! - Og det har jeg pointeret flere gange, altså deres egne medarbejdere undlader at udfylde dokumenter, som de SKAL udfylde, for at undgå erstatning.
Jeg har via WharApp fået medarbejderen der ringede skrev til os om aftenen, at nu var bagagen kommet til at sende det, men til hvilken nytte?
I dag har jeg efter igen at have rykket dem igen, talt med en der burde være chef (ved det ikke, jeg kunne høre deres snak indbyrdes mens jeg vel nok lå på bordet, men det var på arabisk, så det kan jo også bare være en der udgav sig for at være chef). Han lovede at rykke og ringe tilbage, men har bare fået en mail de synes de er samarbjedsvillige og forstående med deres tilbud om 50 USD! - “Chefen” var åbenbart ikke mand nok til at ringe tilbage som han lovede……
Jeg skulle nok have kigget her på Trustpilot før jeg valgte Egypt Air og det håber jeg andre gør og har gavn af at jeg har delt mine oplevelser med EgyptAir. Jeg har ihvertfald lagt min sidste krone i det selskab!
