I’ve purchased a number of Dooney & Burke handbags over the years from retailers like QVC, HSN, Macy’s, Dillard’s, I Love Dooney and other fine retailers. Just about every handbag I have thoroughly loved and never had an issue with the product or customer service.
In March 2024, I received an ad for a pre-order on a new handbag Dooney & Burke was launching in April. This email was directly from the company directly. I vacillated over purchasing directly from the source as I’ve had good service from others. None of my regular retailers had this product at that time. I ordered my Canvass Crossbody 28 bag from the company on 3/30/2024 with the estimated shipping date of 4/6/2024.
I waited for the order…4/10…nothing…but they had a pending charge on my credit card which typically means it was ready to ship. I waited…I checked my credit card a few days later…the pending charge was gone and nothing was charged to my credit card. Every two weeks I checked and same thing…a pending charge and then nothing…no final charge. The beginning of May I contacted D&B support, by email and stated my concern about the Pre-Ordered bag that should have been shipped a month ago. No response. I contacted them 2 more times, each time with dates and order number. Finally I received a response from “Christy” no other name, title or email address saying “Thank you for contacting support. Your order has been shipped and here is the tracking number.” There was never an apology for the number of times I contacted the, sorry about the delay in shipment or anything else.
I did receive the handbag but especially after seeing other reviews on the horrible customer service directly from the company, I will NEVER order directly from them again. In fact, I’ll need to give consideration on whether I order a D&B bag again.

Dooney is refusing to refund my money immediately
Dooney is refusing to refund my purchase price for a purse that they stopped shipment on. I tried to cancel transaction BEFORE shipping but they refused then after that is when they later decided to ship it. Even after I tried to cancel before shipping.
Now they have my money and suddenly stopped shipping mid transit and tell me they need to wait until it comes back to START a refund. Why??? I will never have possession.
I will never get this purse never have it in my possession and they were able to stop it so the purse was always under their control. It’s been 10 days without my money and probably another 20 before they decide whether to give me my money back for an item they never delivered to me. It’s their carrier account not mine. I have nothing to do with whether it gets back to them.
They have NO legal right to hold my money and it is civil theft at this point in my opinion.
Figures though as their CEO Bourke was convicted after being found guilty of investing in an offshore venture in which he knew bribes were being paid. Dishonesty.
Dooney &Bourke owner also apparently found guilty of making false statements to the FBI. So attitude looks like it permeates company to me.
This company is extraordinarily UNTRUSTWORTHY and unstable in my opinion. Look at other reviews because I’m not alone here. Buy at your own risk. Are they going bankrupt?

Dooney & Bourke wishes to establish itself and develop in the French market. Recently, their marketing and recruitment department contacted our digital agency. After more than ten exchanges by email, the brand offered me a meeting by videoconference. Once the meeting date is set, I send them a connection link. On the day, no one from the brand showed up for the meeting, without any apology or explanation since. Clearly, Dooney & Bourke are not serious people. Total lack of manners, professionalism and credibility. For a company that prides itself on being a luxury brand, this is rather strange. Michael Kors, Coach, Kate Spade, Guess, Longchamps and the others have nothing to worry about

Disrespectful, Difficult Customer Service
Because Dooney and Bourke is an old and well known name, I assumed they were a good company. It never even occurred to me to check company reviews.
I was given some birthday money and purchased a purse, but shortly after found a better priced one from a different brand. I went online to cancel my Dooney order less than 24 hours after the purchase, but the system wouldn't let me. So I contacted them by email. I was informed they couldn't cancel (I had not received any tracking information) and I'd have to get the item and then return it.
Shipping was slow, and when it finally arrived I immediately attempted to return the item through their online system - which told me I'd only get $83 back. This was $33 short of what I paid! I contacted customer service, which is routed to India. The associate was difficult to understand and rude. I finally figured out he was telling me the online system doesn't reflect the actual return price, and ALSO that I'd be charged $25 for shipping!
It is ridiculous to refuse to cancel my order, make me return it, and then charge me for shipping. Stay away from this company!

I agree with others that the customer service for this high end brand is horrible. The company does not care about its customers. I would never purchase from this company knowing what I know now.
NO EXCHANGE POLICY FOR DAMAGED BAG
I am lucky to have several D&B bags. I love them and for the past several years they are the only bags buy. Lately on the DB website they are misrepresenting the actual size of their bags and despite customer complaints and reviews they don’t seem to correct the online sizes. The bags are reported to be much larger than they actually are. Even when calling customer service in advance of my purchase about the actual size, they reported yet a different size to what is listed on the website and what actually ultimately arrived. This has happened to me twice and they never fix the website despite numerous negative reviews regarding the mistaken information. But, my bigger current issue is their EXCHANGE policy - they don’t have one. I bought a florentine saddle bag on sale - in my opinion it is damaged and i told them i wanted to do an even exchange They told me that is not their policy and they don’t offer that. They said I had to return the bag; be charged $10 shipping and once they review the bag if they feel it is defective they will reimburse the $10. This has happened to me before so although I don’t agree I was fine with it. THEN I asked if I could lock in the same price that I bought the bag for (kinda what happens when you do an even exchange anyplace else) and they said no. They would charge whatever the current price is for the handbag. So, i buy a bag, they ship a defective one, I initially have to be charged for return shipping pending their review, then I have to rebuy the same exact bag at a higher price - all because they shipped a defective bag from the beginning. Customer Service representatives answer emails in a timely fashion but are not helpful at all and their policies are anything but customer friendly.

Awful Customer Service
Awful Customer Service. Seems like CS representative are at minimum wage. Very rude, don't want to help and just keep saying I should wait 45 more days for the package to be delivered. Better buy Coach or any other brand and stay away from Dooney & Bourke and look for better options.

Poor customer service
Poor customer service! My daughter purchased a wallet for me for my birthday. This was purchased in April 2023. By July, it was coming unstitched so I started a repair ticket. I received a response saying ‘ Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your repair request. Unfortunately, based on the photos you have submitted, we are unable to provide repair services. ‘ so I replied ‘ Based on the photos? Can you not see where it has pulled out of that stitching?’. Then I received a 2nd response’ Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we are unable to repair your wallet.‘.
So,$100+ on a Florentine wallet! And absolutely no way to get them to fix it! Won’t be purchasing dooney and bourke ever again.
I have been a Dooney & Bourke customer…
I have been a Dooney & Bourke customer for decades. I have have never had a complaint, until now. First, it is important to understand that I am a disabled grandmother. My lovely Dooney & Bourke purse arrived on June 23. Today is August 11. For the entire month of July, my disability became an urgent situation, and I was hospitalized for that entire time, in ICU for a good bit of it. I was so excited when I was released from the hospital to get back home, but really more excited because I knew my Dooney & Bourke purse was waiting for me. You can imagine my shock and disappointment when I opened my beautiful Dooney & Bourke purse today and saw that above the zipper, on that beautiful red lining, is a cut in the fabric that is as straight as the zipper itself. It runs parallel to the zipper. I called customer service, and sadly, but not surprisingly, was connected to a customer service representative in a Third World country. I don't mind working with customer service reps around the world, as long as I can understand them. I could not understand this guy at all. He was finally able to communicate well enough to tell me that basically, it sucks to be me and that Dooney & Bourke is not going to do anything about this purse and that the company couldn't care less that I've been a valuable customer whom, in the last 12 years – at least – has carried no purse but a Dooney & Bourke. They have lost a loyal customer over a $205 purse. I will never purchase another Dooney & Bourke item as long as I live, and will tell anyone who expresses an interest that Dooney & Bourke is a terrible company. They do not support their products so beware.
They do not care about customers
Bought a light colored handbag. The first time I used it, color transferred onto the leather. After trying to clean off the leather, I contacted customer support. They didnt care whatsoever, on a 200.00 bag. I would have even paid for them to clean it. Never buying from them again.
This is unbelievable
This is unbelievable. I placed an order a week before Mother’s Day, so my package could be here on time for Mother’s Day. Supposedly the order was delivered to my house. I tracked the package. The package was delivered to the post office not to my house and it was coming by UPS SurePost. So I called customer service to tell them that I never received my package. This was on Thursday when the package was supposed to be delivered. They told me that it was delivered to me and they can’t do anything about it but start an investigation so I told him it was never delivered to me. It was delivered to the post office. Why can’t you send an order replacement because this is for Mother’s Day. Meanwhile, he’s confident that it was delivered to my house and not to the post office. When I told him it was UPS SurePost and it was delivered the post office, he changed his tune. Then he tells me to wait another day to see if it comes on Friday. Meanwhile, when you track the package, UPS delivers it to the USPS and there’s two different tracking numbers. When you track the tracking number for USPS it says, “USPS Currently Awaiting Package.” Which most likely means someone from UPS or USPS stole the package. I told him, “It’s not going to come. Can you just do the re-order so at least I could have something for Mother’s Day.” He said, “No I’m sorry I can’t do that. We need to do an investigation for the return and it’s going to take 2 to 3 weeks.”So I told him I’ll wait until Friday and I will prove you wrong that it’s not going to come in. He assured me it was coming on Friday. So now it’s Friday, my package is not here and I called back. They can’t do anything for me. They cannot send a replacement package by the next day because they have to do an investigation for the first order and they rush that investigation. I won’t hear back from them for weeks until their “investigation” is done and I can’t get a replacement package so now I don’t have anything to give for Mother’s Day.
I own several Dooney handbags and love…
I own several Dooney handbags and love them. I recently purchased a handbag on line and I put faith in the description that is stated. I received the bag yesterday and not as described. The description was as follows: 9 3/4” high X 6” deep x 10” wide. These measurements are wrong. The bag is only 7” high X 4” deep. The width at 10” is correct. Loosing almost 3” in height and another 2” in depth makes a big difference when it pertains to a small bag. I called customer service and was told I could return it however they would not refund the $15 in shipping charges I originally paid. I haven’t returned it yet as I’m hoping to reach a supervisor this Monday, 5/15. Horrible company.
Husband bought me the pebble hobo purse…
Husband bought me the pebble hobo purse for Christmas, 2 months in I noticed the stitching coming out of the right side handle and then a month ago it lost a rivet on the top of the strap, so now just have a sharp bottom of river sticking out. Have tried contacting customer service and support several times and have had little response. This is the poorest run company I've ever dealt with and a promise to never return, this is not my first dooney product but the promise it will be my last.

Have many DB purses, but the latest has stitching falling out after a month. The company says I have to complete a form for them to consider doing a repair.
