I was with diamond for a year I had no problems but my renewal quote was £1100 with them and £400 else where, spoke to a lovely man on the phone was very sorry I decided not to renew because of price, never had a problem with them!
very helpful colleague with car renewal
I phoned Diamond this morning to talk about my policy renewal for the end of this month. The man I spoke was very helpful and was able to match and then lower a quoted price from another insurance company. Within 10minutues being on the phone I managed to sort out my next policy with diamond and was able to talk about all the add ons. The Diamond colleague couldn't have been any more helpful, would highly recommend.

beware fines for not providing unrequested information
Took out policy easily enough then had to pay an extra thirty pounds a few weeks later because I had not supplied proof of NCD within the stated period even though it had notbeen requested nor a period given. Not happy about that or I would have given 5 stars.
care assistant
I'm a care assistant I book a taxi to get me to work at the latest 10 minutes before I start, on numerous occasions now they have been more than 5 minutes late and on one occasion 10 minutes late. I do put a note to say what my job is. I've been very disappointed in the service, a driver will pick the job up then some minutes later it'll change to another driver.

If I could give 0 starts. I would. I've been with this company for a few years. Broke down last night, and waited over 3 hours to be recovered. Then I told them where the car was being recovered too didn't allow me a hire car because basically, I wasn't going to a local garage but one I use all the time. Baring in mind I was in London it was nearly 9pm wouldn't be able to leave my car at a closed garage and then be able to get back there the next morning to explain the problem. Due to covid the recovery van couldn't take me home and they would see if I could get a taxi but was unsure! To which I was about to be left in the dark in a place I hardly knew I had to walk over a mile to the train station to then get a bus and walk over a mile home in the dark this all happened at 6pm and I didn't get home until nearly half 11 that night. What sort of company allows a woman to be left in a vulnerable situation ! Avoid at all costs.
They do not care about their customers!!
I was a loyal customer for 8 years.I have had 3 cars previously and consecutively under their insurance. I just got a new car and I asked them for a quote for insurance. They were too high and I found cheaper. I then went to cancel my insurance and they had the cheek to charge me a cancellation fee! AFTER 8 YEARS!?!? They said if I would have done a new policy rather than just changing the vehicle details on my current one it would have been cheaper with no cancellation fee, but they didn't offer me that. They then said I don't need to pay a cancellation fee if I cancel my new insurance. If thats they way they treat loyal customers it's not a company I want to be associated with. Honestly, just try someone else.

Spoke to a girl called Elle who was absolutely amazing. She was so helpful and cheerful, and managed to sort my car insurance for me with zero problems! She was very professional and made me feel completely at ease, explaining everything so patiently to me. Thanks again !!

Fabulous insurance the customer service man bent over backwards to match and lower my renewal after having 3 hit and run incidents all had to be claimed through Diamond as they drove off after hitting the car I’m super thrilled with all their help for the last few years

I wasn’t planning to leave diamond. I needed to insure a named driver for a couple of weeks so filled out your online form. I got emails telling me that I would get confirmation soon but soon doesn’t mean anything. I spoke to someone on chat yesterday who couldn’t help me. I tried 3 different phone numbers (1 of which was provided by one of your agents during chat) and all three disconnected me telling me to go online. The agent on chat yesterday told me to get in touch again from 8am this morning. The agent this morning tried to get me to leave the chat and come back hours later. This was needed urgently and instead it took about 15 hours, 2 hours of which I was chatting to you incompetent agents. And therefore I have now after this terrible experience decided that I do not want any dealings with diamond again and will actively encourage friends and family to avoid you.

Brilliant customer service
Been with Diamond 10 years, and can honestly say it's the best customer service from any company I have dealt with recently (and I deal with a lot!). As other reviewers have noted, they do increase the premium, year on year, and hope you will ignore it, but each time I call, I get through within 30 seconds and a lovely staff member is able to help with reducing the policy down by a considerable amount. Worth that little bit of hassle to have a low insurance premium each year and delightful customer service.
Money grabbing and dishonest
My partner had an accident (review found below) and Diamond offered him almost £1000 less than his car was worth and after 3 months of back and forth and the Financial ombudsman getting involved they finally managed to up their offer to a point that was acceptable but only after 3 months (if they had have just offered this figure in the first place we would have accepted)
We were fortunate that we were in a position to share my car for 3 months and I took my partner to work and picked him up - the COVID 19 situation also then helped as we were working from home and could hang on and decline their abysmal offers but it is disappointing that Diamond uses the low offer tactic knowing a lot of people aren’t in a position to fight it because they need to get back on the road quickly.
We are due for renewal now and despite myself being a loyal customer for 4 years I have always been quoted ridiculously high and every year end up ringing to negociate a better deal. I rang up to cancel my aurorenewal and was offered a price of £800+ to stay insured with Diamond. (Can’t remember the exact figure but it was 860 or somewhere around that area)
When I told them this was high the lady on the phone who knew I was trying to leave told me she could immediately knock off £250 because im a ‘loyal customer’ (funny you can instantly knock off so much hmmm?) then proceeded to tell me my final quote would be around £770 - not sure if she forgot she offered to take £250 from the original approx £860 quoted or just thought I wouldn’t work out the maths...? At this point I think diamond just pull figures out of thin air and they don’t care so much about their customers, more about making as much money as they can and hoping customers don’t query or notice.
Needless to say I told them no and will be leaving when my policy runs out end of the month.
Best part? Have just accepted and taken out a policy with another reputable company to start when my diamond policy ends. The price from the new company is £257 for the year with protected no claims bonus and more features and add ons than diamond ever gave me.
Im actually disgusted that diamond have been charging me almost quadruple that. On what basis?!?
Avoid them like the plague unless you want to be part of a daylight robbery. Thought they were okay and have learnt very quickly that when you need them they let you down (as was the case with my partner explained in his own review) and when you’re a loyal customer they think nothing of overcharging you by extortionate amounts and making you fight for a not even a half reasonable price.
