A collection that was inspired by a Monastery and a Temple, on an island off the coast of Naples - Ischia. Joel and Molly, visited in August 2024 for a long weekend and were so moved by the space, by the quiet and creativity that came from rest that our studio has created not only a new seasonal collection, but a new chapter and calling card for D&D: “and on the seventh day there was rest”. The collection pays ode to the heavenly parts of rest. The freedom it allows our minds. It’s also an homage to the summer days that we pray last forever but eventually become a dream. 2 different pairs of pyjama trousers tore along back seam
Linen pyjama bottoms x2 split/tore alongside the back seam after 1 month and 3 months respectively. Both were a gift from my partner. Bought another pair of bottoms in one colour in a larger size to replace in case that was the issue (despite the original fit seeming fine), but the same thing happened to the new pair. I always washed on a cold cycle and we don’t own a tumble dryer. It seems like the fabric fibres are very weak as it’s not the seam itself that split but the fabric beside the seam.
If you look on eBay etc you see lots of linen pyjama shirts from D&D for resale but never the trousers - so my guess is that it is a common issue.
The aesthetic design of D&D stuff is lovely but there’s not any point in great aesthetics if the items do not last a reasonable length of time.
I wrote a review on the D&D site at the time but it was never published.

Impeccable
The service, packaging and product are impeccable. I love the designs and styling. The price is a little hard to swallow so I tend to only buy gifts for my wife. I wouldn’t buy for myself at this price point. As a fancy gift to soften the spouse is a no brainer

Love love love! Absolutely stunning PJ. The print, the quality of the fabric. Something about the print makes you feels like you’re on some Hawaïen island. The only downside is the price. I will buy more 💯 but only ~ ONLY ~ when on sale. Full price is unaffordable.

Disappointed and never again
Having purchased several items from Desmond & Dempsey over the years, my most recent experience has unfortunately put me off buying from them again.
I bought a nightdress, and the strap broke after one use. While I was offered a replacement voucher, it came with restrictions - it could only be used on another nightdress and was valid for 12 months. When I tried to use the voucher on multiple occasions, I encountered repeated error messages. The voucher expires September 2026.
Attempts to contact customer service were equally frustrating. My emails bounced for weeks, and it was only after reaching out via Instagram that I was given an alternative email address.
What stands out most is the lack of flexibility and support, with the continual "sorry". The company offered to “reinstate” a voucher that hadn’t even expired, yet still restricted its use to the same product category. I had hoped to purchase a pyjama set instead, but this wasn’t permitted. Given my concerns about quality after the initial nightdress issue, I had little confidence in buying another nightdress.
I shared my disappointment - including with senior management- and the response fell short of expectations. In the end, I chose not to pursue the voucher at all, as the process has become unnecessarily difficult.
Overall, the experience did not reflect the level of service one would expect from a premium brand.
UPDATE: From the reply, it’s clear that the core issue- making the voucher usable for a nighty purchase - still hasn’t been addressed. Standard practice among other vendors is to ensure vouchers are available for use at any time within their validity period, in my case 12months expiring September 2026; D&D have not met this expectation. The suggestion that the voucher would be “reinstated” goes beyond what is considered necessary under basic principles of fair and ethical customer service. A voucher should simply be issued and fully usable, at any time I choose, for its stated validity period, or not issued at all.
