Poor quality Daves doors. Poor customer service.
The door was poor quality. One of the beads on the door wasn't straight. The adhesive was all over the glass, there was some plastic stuck inside the glazed panel. Also black marks on some areas and poorly finished joints. Having contacted Daves doors on the day it arrived to complain it took 10 days before they even responded. Never again.

Hard to get a door wrong but customer service is very poor
We ordered a special-sized door which was subsequently affected by a nationwide supplier shortage. I completely accept that the shortage itself was outside of Daves Doors' control, and the door has now finally been delivered as ordered.
The frustration was how the situation was handled. We received conflicting information about availability and expected delivery, repeatedly had to chase for updates, and generally felt communication was reactive rather than proactive. When I raised these concerns, I was surprised to be told that Daves Doors did not believe there had been any issue with their communication and that we had always been free to cancel and source the door elsewhere.
Despite acknowledging the inconvenience, the only goodwill offered was 5% off a future order. I asked several times whether they would instead consider a discount on the order that had actually been affected, but this was declined due to the margin they make on the product.
Ultimately, supplier problems happen and I don't judge Daves Doors for something outside of their control. For me, the disappointment was how the customer experience was managed when things went wrong. Better communication and a little more willingness to recognise the inconvenience would have made a significant difference.

Hi James, thanks for your update, we are both back now and in the office. Sorry to hear that you feel this way, I can see from my thread alone that there have been over 20 emails from yourself and the customer/end user. I also know that the majority of discussion was also via email with my wife of which i do not have the total. I appreciate that you have 'repeatedly chased for updates' however this doesn’t change the information in the updates I'm afraid. Unfortunately delays and stock issues can happen although very rare considering the volume of doors we supply nationwide over the last 20 years. All the best with your installation and glad that this was resolved asap!

EDIT Sept 26: Customer has withdrawn payment whilst withholding goods. A County Court Judgement has been filed.
Hi again Alan. Having looked into to your contact history I can see that you are not a qualified Carpenter or Joiner but are looking to 'have a go' at the installation yourself. We would always recommend using a fully qualified Carpenter for the reasons discussed previously. The Universal Oak frame is a very popular product amongst our Trade customers for it's flexibility and high quality finish that can be achieved however is not something we would recommend the DIYer (or 'Truck mechanic') to attempt. You are, as offered, entitled to return your items if they are not suitable, however as also mentioned there is nothing 'not correct' or 'mis-sold' about the product, it does however requires a level of competent carpentry and joinery skills to install. These are professional trade products which require professional installation...

speedy service, kept informed. However... I only had a few hours notice of delivery. The e-mail came through on a tuesday afternoon, about a 7.30 - 10.30 am delivery slot the next day and I didn't have time to change work plans and work from home. They still delivered and popped it in my garage but it felt a bit risky to leave an expensive door exposed. \

See refunds policy before ordering
I ordered a single door and cancelled my order within 15 minutes because of lack of information on door sizes. I Emailed text and chat box cancellations within the 24 hour period but they class a full refund minus £6.46 transaction fee which isn’t clear on their ordering process.
I feel I’ve been duped!!!

The basic door has been good, but.....
The basic door has been good. Unfortunately, the items I bought from the firm for installing the door: >large storm board for the outside – split in 2 days. Remedied it myself by using hardwood dowels.
>sash lock – seized up in 5 days and the replacement sent by the company was too small for the opening created by the joiner, so I bought my own branded quality lock
>rubber gaskets lining the frame were far too small and the rubber gasket at the bottom of the frame to stop water coming in fell out within a few days of installation. I had to remedy it myself with an oak bar.

They have no way of contacting them. They do not reply to emails, phone calls or the love chat on website.
I tried to cancel my order via email, after not being able to contact them regarding delivery and a query I had not being answered. I then received a notification from a courier company a few days later saying that they had just received information to deliver. I've managed to cancel the delivery to not waste anyone's time. Not heard anything from Dave's doors and have had to seek out chargebacks from credit card on the transaction due to no contact availability. If for any reason they had delivered and there was an issue with the product I would imagine you'd be lost for any kind of replacement or refund. Avoid at all costs

Simon. We can see from your order time stamp that this order was placed on Easter bank holiday and confirmation sent to simongunnpp@gmail.com of which you can reply to with any queries etc. Although bank holiday, you can still contact us in regular working hours via Live Chat (9am-11pm, where you can also create a ticket for email response), alternatively you can contact via Email direct, via our contact form on the website, and via your customer login/account hub. You can also request a call back via Live Chat if preffered. We can see that you got in touch via calling dispatch on the contact number provided in your delivery text message over the bank hoilday (this is exactly the reason these text messages are sent, thanks) We also see that you received a call from our MD on day 2 of your lead time (48 hours in..) but had already filed a Chargeback with your credit card. As explained once a chargeback is filed the transaction is 'under investigation' with the bank. This can take up to 90 days to complete during which time the bank 'holds' the transaction meaning we are unable to action or refund the amount until the investigation is completed and funds released by the bank. Although your order was Processed during the Easter bank holiday within 48 hours, and your order was due to be delivered on day 4 of your 14 day lead time, unfortunately your actions over the bank holiday before contacting us directly have resulted in this freeze by the bank who's rules we can only abided by we're afraid... All the best!
