COMIC CON MANCHESTER is one of the UK’s largest pop culture conventions, attracting over ten thousand fans annually to our home venue, Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester. The main attraction every year is of course the star guests, and we always endeavour to bring you a variety of exciting names from movies, tv, streaming, gaming, anime and sports entertainment. In previous years Comic Con Manchester has been proud to host the likes of Tyler Hoechlin, Zachary Quinto, Seth Green, Zachary Levi and Elizabeth Berkeley. We’re all a fan of something, and Comic Con Manchester is the best place to celebrate all things pop culture. As well as having the chance to meet your heroes, get an item signed or a photo, many guests will also appear live on stage so you’ll get to hear directly about their new projects and previous roles. Outside of the celebs you can get your picture taken with some of our unique props and set builds; watch the fabulous cosplayers strut their stuff on stage (or join them); test yours skills in our retro and modern gaming areas; or browse through the unique gifts in our trader and artist areas with a large show floor for the perfect shopping experience for everyone in our community. The shared fandoms and sense of community is central to everything we do. Fans from all over the UK come together every year to share their love of comics, fantasy, sci-fi, gaming, horror and cosplay. To find and bond with like-minded individuals who share their interests. We’ll continue to grow and evolve this event as a place you can celebrate your community fandoms, discover new ones and most of all have fun! Loved this comic con
Loved this comic con. Yes it was a nightmare that guests that I wanted to see dropped out last minute but I’ve never gone for just the guests, as this can always happen. I went to see the props, amazing cos players and the stalls. I can really get my geek on.

Living in Manchester it’s great to have a convention on the doorstep.
Staff were lovely and friendly and the guests were amazing, they did all they could to keep the venue nice and cool despite the 30 degree weather outside and went above and beyond for all involved.

Manchester Comic-con
What an absolute amazing weekend!
Shout out to Andy for putting on another great show.
Save your money and book Liverpool instead
Manchester comic con had been on a steady decline for the last few years, but 2024 was honestly a new standard of disappointment. Karen Gillan and Catherine Tate had been booked only for them to drop out less than a month before the event, the latter a mere 3 days prior. While scheduling conflicts are not a fault on the organisers, it’s wrong on customers who purchased so far in advance, especially in correspondence to frequent advertising of their appearances. Regarding the event itself, it was overcrowded in a confined space with limited seating, with people either standing or having to sit on the floor. There was also no air conditioning, which made being in the event unpleasantly uncomfortable. The queuing system also needs a serious revamp, with attendees often standing in the wrong line of a photoshoot due to a lack of clarification from staff and poor time management of the photo schedules. The one positive was the guests I met were incredibly friendly, especially Maggie Grace. However, I will be unlikely to attend future events at Bowlers and will consider MegaCon instead.
Mediocre at best.
The comic convention was cramped, small, and had no easy access to water. The canteen was overpriced and filled with people who were sitting but not dining - there was no staff presence so we had to stand up and eat. The traders haul was filled with dropshippers and there was little to no small businesses and artists. Many people crowded the entrance to the convention hall because there was no seating areas and because they had booked a mass amount of people for such a small convention area. There was some props, but everything event wise had been catered towards The Walking Dead and there was little sense of community overall within the convention. The pricing was ridiculous for something that you could not make a full day out of - I bought the early bird tickets and arrived at 10, but stayed until 12. Save your money.
Disappointed
I wish I could give this recent event 0 or even half a star, but it wouldn’t let me.
After my recent experience, I will not attend another Manchester Comic Con again.
I understand that guests’ schedules are subject to change, but having multiple guests dropping out at least a week before the event is supposed to start is shocking.
I was left without any guests I was interested in seeing after Catherine Tate pulled out of the event, and I was completely disappointed after having spent over £100 towards this event and planning to travel with my friend.
I was left with no other choice but to sell my entry ticket because I would’ve wasted my own time and money attending otherwise, because there were guests I wasn’t interested in meeting.
This is extremely unfair. Please do better.
Good but improvements needed
I wanted to share the experience as a carer of a wheelchair user both the good and the bad.
The disabled parking was very good, the assistance provided on where to go and where to park was very useful and the map you used helped us a lot. Shout out to the guy in the car park he was lovely.
The first problem we incurred was on the way to the entrance, large cables prevented the wheelchair from going over smoothly and although they had plastic fittings, they did not help. Lots of kind guests assisted with this and helped us get the wheelchair over them. I am not sure what else you could have done but I wanted to advise you.
There was no queue which was good but we were told by staff that we couldn’t have the silver wristbands as they were only for diamond pass holders. We disputed this as previous comic cons gave them to people with the disability access tickets too, as we had that, we asked them to check with another staff member. He wanted to check tickets and nimbus card which was good, but only gave one wristband to my husband. This was fine as we were always together but did make me nervous that I would be refused from pushing him in the queues. Two wristbands would have been better to allay my fears. The staff on the doors were unaware of the disability ticket.
We then encountered problems with the marquee, going through the entrance and exits throughout the day was difficult as the concrete and wooden planks were very difficult to manoeuvre. The ramps were knocked and moved all day by other guests and they were too steep or had to much of a lip to get the wheelchair on. I had to leave my husband to go into the marquee which was not ideal. Could these be fixed, and not be as thick next time? There maybe a good reason why they were like this as not a permanent feature but it would help to be better next time.
We were abit confused in the main arena how to get up the steps to the central part, a staff member told us about a ramp further up but I couldn’t find it as there was a stand in front of it. I went up the stairs to have a wonder and found both the ramp and a lift. A sign or it being marked on a venue map would help people not familiar with the arena. Plus the food queue and merchandise stand did block the top part of the ramp opening. I couldn’t find a disabled toilet either so my husband, who can make short walks, was able to go into the men’s. Again, a mark on a map or sign would help.
The main issue for us that day was the food court, the ramps, again not sturdy or fixed meant we couldn’t join the queue as we had to go with the flow of the lines which did not coincide with the ramps. I spent time trying to manoeuvre round but gave up as I couldn’t get to where I needed to be in the queue with the ramps. Luckily there was an indoor place which we used, which again was fine but some thought needs to be given to how wheelchair users know that it’s not suitable out in the food court. I would suggest that maybe a wheelchair user explores the venue the day before to find out what bits work and what doesn’t, as we found these things very quickly and they could have been rectified.
The other thing we noticed was the silver wristbands not being checked in the queues. A group of 4 women were constantly going in the priority queue with only one of them having a wristband. They would laugh every time they ‘got away with it’ showing just the first person with a wristband who held all the tickets. It wasn’t a major thing but if everyone did this, that queue would be longer than the normal.
The whole day was very well managed and the staff were very helpful in the photo queues, a shout out to the lady in the photo queue who had to deal with two medical incidents. These were handled very well with the right balance of concern and sensitivity for the ladies but also keeping the queues moving. We had to manoeuvre around the normal queue as the priority queue was blocked with the incident, and the staff were lovely and helpful moving the barriers as they were not wide enough for a wheelchair. The opening of the doors around the venue helped with the heat, and the breeze was nice to sit in for a while.
Overall as a first time to Manchester, it was a great day and I make these comments to help you make it even better for next time and not to have a moan about things, hence why I have tried to make suggestions
Save your money and go to another
Went in 2023 and a week before it started, main actors such as Antony Starr (Homelander - The Boys), Chase Starr (The Deep - The Boys) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie - The Walking Dead) all dropped out. The majority of actors leftover weren't worth the cost of travelling and hotels. No refunds available on tickets. When we got there it was a half assed convention in a large warehouse, but fairplay to the people selling their merchandise as they put 100% effort in and a lot of great stuff was for sale. And to top it off the food was awful (£14 for a small hotdog). with no running water, and the drinks were disgusting. Seen the line up for 2024 and I already know they're going to drop out last minute.
Comic con Manchester is the best!
Comic con Manchester was my very first convention and to say it didn’t disappoint is an understatement! The stalls they have on are absolutely amazing and I look forward every year to spending half the weekend looking around them and supporting them. They always have top notch guests at very reasonable prices. Staff are always very helpful and polite and the events are always well organised. I always feel safe there regardless of how busy it can get which is always the main thing, it’s also very child friendly and accommodating to all ages. Couldn’t recommend enough!
The walking dead characters
The best thing for me is Being able to see my favourite characters from the walking dead keep them coming and also love the amount of stalls

Monopoly really do know how to do comic cons, I went to 3 last year and going to 3 this year. Super fun weekend with amazing guests and stalls. Staff are really helpful, we couldnt finish getting all out photo/autos on a Saturday so they give us tickets for the sunday to finish. Highly recommended 👌
Comic con manchester is amazing!
Comic Con Manchester is an amazing experience with great guests, especially for walking dead fans. Went last year and it was amazing, the atmosphere was incredible and the energy and passion people put into cosplays is just amazing. Overall amazing event would 100% recommend!
Living in Manchester it’s great to have…
Living in Manchester it’s great to have this on my door step! I travel all over the country to comic cons so it’s great to have it close. The new traders hall was brilliant made so much more space for more customers. I had the pleasure to meet the only fools and horses cast this year.
