Great customer service

Caledonian Windows provided great customer service. Took the time to discuss my requirements in detail. When I raised concerns about the light in the hall when choosing a new front door, they came with cardboard and mocked up the options to help choose the ideal door. Excellent result! The workmen were equally as helpful when it came to the installation. Friendly, professional, cleaned up each day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Cannot recommend Caledonian Windows &…

Cannot recommend Caledonian Windows & Doors highly enough. From the initial contact right through to Leeann’s call to see if we were happy were second to none. Their products are fantastic and the fitting is terrific, first class workmen as their finish is amazing. Feel as though we’ve got a new home as it’s so quiet as we’re on a main road. Would give them 20 out of 10

Great service

Absolutely delighted with our front door fitted yesterday by Ellis. All staff from start to finish were excellent with a personal touch. Delighted with the product and service. Would highly recommend Caledonian Windows and Doors.

Were do I start firstly i have no complaints about my windows or the fitters the fitters were excellent very pleasant and treated my home with respect,,my complaint is 1 of the female directors she needs a course in customer service ,I have been harassed and threatened by her to have my house sale stopped also to send debt collectors to me ,it started in March my door was leaking so I contacted Caledonian windows and send pictures in as my hall was flooded a fitter was sent out to look at my door it was discovered that it was the wrong seal on it about a week later which would have been early April I get a call saying the supply company had sent the wrong gasket and it would be another week till the correct 1 came this since then till the 4th of August I never heard anything from anyone at Caledonian windows ,on the 4th August I received an email from the female director to say the supply company had finally sent the correct gasket nearly 4+ months later and could she arrange a day to come fit it .
On the 4th August I was at the hospital most of the day I received not very good news about my health so I emailed back that it wasn't convenient and I would get back to her when it was as a gasket for the door was the last thing on my mind .
On the 4th 5th and 6th August it was constant emails basically demanding I give her a date to fit the gasket again I told her my health wasn't good and id get back to her when it was convenient but no that wasn't good enough she told me if I didn't give her a date within 4 weeks to get the gasket fitted she would get the sale of my house stopped and get debt collectors onto me I still owe £1000 as I kept it back due to the door but at no point did I ever say I wasn't paying or I didn't want the gasket fitted I just wanted to some time to get my head around the news that I'd been given about my health but that wasn't good enough she still emailed me wanting a date to get gasket fitted ,
I waited 4+ months for the new gasket but we've had it verified by a few suppliers and theve all told us no way does it take that amount of time to get a gasket ordered and delivered,
This all seemed strange to me then I realised she'd seen my house up for sale and probably remembered they hadn't ordered the new gasket and i still owed them money but what she didn't know was my house came off the market because of my health issues ,
I felt she harassed and threatened me with telling me she'd get my house sale stopped and if I didn't give her a date within the next 4 weeks she would take it to the debt collectors to get her £1000 baring in mind i had already paid £10,000 to her ,I told her the owner of the company was welcometo come see me she told me she was a director and the owner and other directors new about this and had told her to get debt collectors involved and I have all this in emails which I will be sending to my solicitor, all this because I told her I would get back to her when it was convenient for me to have someone come and fit the gasket.
There was other things that happened at the beginning of ordering my windows.in the beginning I asked if I could delay fitting my windows from the 2nd February till the 10th February due to having my building painted and was told it was company policy that i would have to pay 50% of the balance which i did pay only to be told by 1 of the other directors who came to my home that that wasn't the case hed never heard of that policy,
I am happy with my windows the only good thing in that company are the fitters who came to fit my windows .
All Caledonian windows are interested in is getting your money and it seems theyl go to any lengths to get it .since getting my windows fitted I have heard others complain about is this female director her attitude is shocking to treat customers with basically threats and harassment is shocking especially when the customer is ill, I have been asked to take said female's name from the review which I have done but I dont know why as everything i have stated is the truth with the emails as proof, its ok to mention names if its a good review as said person's name has been used in other reviews very strange indeed ,said emails and female have left me very distressed with everything I have been going through when all I was asking was for a little time to when it was convenient for me that I didn't have healtcare coming in to my home

From quick home appointment to fitting, superb

From quick home appointment, with lovely advisor. To a reasonable price for what I was looking for. Quote for fit was quite accurate, and fit day was fairly quickly after that. Fitters turned up on time, they left my house clean and I am delighted with the work done. Love my new doors. Definitely recommend these guys 100%.

An exceptional company..

From the initial quotation to completion Caledonian have been faultless in all aspects of the extensive works undertaken.
We have had a new dormer in order to create a larger bathroom, french windows to the rear lounge, a velux in our kitchen, new roofing over the decking and a wooden floor to one downstairs room (one still to be completed due to ongoing decoration).
All works have been completed to an exceptionally high standard.
Our house is old (1870s) and as such there were the inevitable unforseen challenges. Caledonian maintained close contact at all times ensuring that such issues were discussed in detail and suitable solutions found.
We cannot emphasise enough how welcome this exceptional level of communication was. Julian phoned regularly, even if there was nothing significant to report, just to maintain contact and strengthen our confidence and trust.
Julian, Ian, Alec, Davey and many other colleagues were all friendly, hard working and skilled craftsmen.
We recommend Caledonian unreservedly.

Avoid this company.

Avoid this company.
I had my windows and doors fitted in 2019. I have spent the last 4years chasing them up to rectify their shoddy workmanship. Despite 27 calls most of the issues have not been resolved. The locks and door handles are not what I chose, but basically whatever the fitters had in the van. All 3 doors have completely different handles. They fitted a temporary lock on a door that cost over £2000 and It took them over 3 years and numerous calls before they replaced it. The locks on my French doors have always been difficult to open and I was repeatedly advised to use WD40 to rectify this. They now want to charge me £150 to fit and supply new door locks. Disgraceful workmanship and appalling customer service

Poor quality build

I spoke to Holly at Caledonian Windows who said Mr Middleton would call me, that was in September, its now two months nearly later and no call. This company really don't care about the standard of my build and that something is wrong with it. They also never cared about the leaking roof which has been constant every time it rains. I wish I had never contracted this company because they were not fit to build my conservatory. They have had plenty of time.

Update and reply to Caledonian's reply received 24/09/2024. It is an unsatisfactory response. You say to contact you but you are nameless it seems. Thanks though for actually replying at last. This type of problem with a build cannot be seen until some time after the build, and it needs addressing, as I am assured that the issue can only occur if a mistake was made with the build and I was hoping you might actually be concerned about this. Yes you came back repeatedly to deal with the leaks but you never resolved them and we get flooding on the conservatory floor regularly when it rains and just visiting to fix the issue which has been there since the build was finished does not mean its ok for you to leave the the conservatory leaking, and in fact Mr Middleton refused on more than one occasion to sort out the problem because we had withheld part of the balance as we are legally entitled to do if the results are unsatisfactory, he wanted that first and there was no doubt in my mind that he would not have fixed the leak after being paid the balance which is why i refused to pay it until I had a satisfactory outcome and there has never been one. The other problem that has revealed itself is something which is caused by an error in the construction and you should be seriously concerned about it, and come out to see it instead of being so unconcerned. What does a customer have to do to get you to come out? Also you withheld the guarantees which I believe was illegal possibly.

Conservatory build far from satisfactory, built in 2015. Leaks constantly. Now a window is buckling and we have been told that the weight of the roof has been placed over the window and not on a support and that the build is faulty. This is probably the cause of the leaks as the roof is slowly shifting. We didn't realise the window was buckling until a professional came here on another project in the house and pointed it out. We held back part of the balance because of the leaks, as entitled to do by law, but they have never fixed them and we never got our guarantee. I am going to contact them if I can but getting any response proved very difficult in the past. I know that the owner will probably rubbish me the customer as I have seen him do on other reviews, Tom I suggest you do something about this, rather than misrepresent us. I will see if they are going to do anything to remediate what is a now a dangerous result of a poor build. If I get a satisfactory result I will update my review. If I don't I will be pursuing it further.

I will give you further details if you agree not to ignore me as I have already contacted you about this and been ignored. So look through your emails for a complaint and you will find it. If you can't let me know here. Why has it taken you a year to respond to this review and a year of ignoring what is a dangerous situation which you were told about in my email. You have all my details in that email but as usual you just ignored it. I will resend the email and I hope you will take the problem seriously and do something to rectify it because this problem was caused by a faulty construction.

Dear Mr Tom Middleton

Further to the building of our conservatory by Caledonian windows. We have experienced consistent leaks in one place after another since the build and we now know the cause, it is serious and possibly dangerous and is due to a faulty installation or an issue with the architectural design. This needs to be looked at with urgency by yourselves and immediate work carried out to rectify the problem. Yes we held back 10% of the balance as is our legal right to do when the results are not satisfactory, and with so many leaks, the result could not possibly fit the term of 'satisfactory outcome' and this would have been paid if you had given us a satisfactory outcome and had not done work against our express wishes. None of that absolves you of the responsibility to provide a sound and safe leak proof conservatory and sadly it is also now dangerous according to three experts in this field of work with the fault being with the installation or design.

Please arrange to visit within 14 working days of this email so they you can see for yourself what is happening. Please treat this with the utmost and urgent concern.

Thanks for getting back to me, I now know who you are and I have checked your file.
We have been to your property to carry-out guarantee work, so your review saying that we have 'ignored' you is simply not true.
We also have achieved your completion certificate for your installation, this is signed off by Building Control and they would not have signed this off if there had been an issue with your build, therefore, your conservatory has been built correctly as per Building Standards Regulations.

Avoid at all costs

I’m not really one for posting negative reviews of companies but I would hate for anyone to have to experience what we have over the past 9 months.
2 years ago, we were looking to have an extension built and decided to go with Caledonian Windows in Ayr…worst mistake ever. They were far from the cheapest quote but decided to go with a local company. In September 2022 when they started, we were told 6-8 weeks to complete. It took almost 9 months to complete, and it was only done in that time as we had to get the help of a dispute resolution scheme who acted as mediator between us and the company. This was the only way to get work done by them.
They went for weeks at a time with no-one on the job, no communication, nothing. We had to phone and email them continuously to chase them up and even then, they regularly didn’t answer their phone or emails. They lie and tell you it will be finished by a certain date knowing fine they have no intention of it. We had to take time off work as we never knew when builders would need access. It has been the most stressful experience for all of us. They left materials and tools in our garden for weeks at a time and our neighbours garden has been left in a complete mess.
To top it off, there have been some defects already with the work and they told us they couldn’t come to fix it as we hadn’t paid the final balance! So a word of advice, if you’re looking to have any renovations done, avoid this company at all costs unless you’re prepared for a long battle!
