Amazon Business couldn't care less
After weeks of waiting, an extremely expensive item that our company needs to build a new production workflow went on a rare sale. We immediately purchased it and received confirmation of the purchase. Since the item is so expensive, it requires someone to be available to sign for it on the delivery date. So upon receiving Email confirmation of the purchase, I rearrange my schedule and clear that entire day since deliveries from Amazon almost never come in the time window the carrier estimates. Note that we used a payment method, address, and name we have used for years on both consumer Amazon as well as Amazon Business.
The following day I check my email and Amazon Business has locked my account and cancelled my order. After 4 painful calls with their "support" - They tell me they flagged my account because of "unusual activity” and their standard practice is then to cancel all purchases blindly. Not put them on hold, and certainly not to bother and leverage any of the numerous methods of contact they have for us to simply ask if we approved the purchase.
Long story short, I lost a day on my schedule, hours more on phone calls to their support center, and well over a thousand dollars due to the item no longer being on sale now.
I cannot say enough about staying away from Amazon if you are a small business. What they cost me with this one idiotic failure is a major blow to us and they couldn't care less. We would never treat a new customer like this, let alone one we had done business with for years.
A long-term goal of for us was to analyze cutting out middlemen in our supply chain. This project will now move to the top of the list, as we clearly cannot rely on Amazon Business.
