Diabolical chemist full of incompetence…
Diabolical chemist full of incompetent and unhelpful staff.
A few years ago (before the pandemic),my local Boots chemist was reliable and had a good group of dedicated pharmacy staf!
Not nowadays.😔
They've gone from brilliant to truly awful 😔
I used to get regular updates via my mobile when prescriptions were received and ready for collection.
Nowadays it's so hit and miss.
Often they've got my prescriptions, but take weeks to get them ready for collection.
Or I'll go to the chemist having been informed via the phone and text messages that my prescriptions are ready .... only to find out only part of my prescription is!!!!
Just really frustrating and shocking the way Boots are run nowadays.
Staff just say...oh you'll have to come back tomorrow and they should (should) be ready!
Ignoring the fact me or my partner have had to make a round trip of 10 miles and use public transport to get into town at our financial cost.
This morning...I was informed all prescriptions were ready.
This afternoon...a staff member there says I was either misinformed or I didn't understand what was said to me!!!
Are they real?
Unfortunately there are certain staff members at Boots who are deliberately obstructive and awkward to customers and totally unhelpful.
Boots used to be a good pharmacy.
Nowadays they are truly awful.
I had to change my reading glasses as…
I had to change my reading glasses as the pair I had had broken even though I have looked after them. I was greated with" I'm not changing" them in a aggressive attitude and this was from the manager. I had the receipt.
The manager then proceeded to call half of Boots to find a way not to change the glasses this took 15 mins. She then called a second store manager and finally changed them. What a unpleasant place to shop, you can tell the quality of a company when things go wrong. This was a bad experience.
Prescription sent by doctor on the 19th…
Prescription sent by doctor on the 19th December for high blood pressure. went to collect on 27th December, told they didn't have it and to come back later that day. went back late afternoon still didn't have it, told it might be in on Monday or I could phone 111. Why couldn't they phone to say they didn't have them earlier, so I could have contacted the doctor for a different medication or try an independent pharmacy.
Diss branch. Poor customer service
Waiting at till, no staff on shop floor. Moved into pharmacy queue and abruptly told by a member of staff she would serve the 6 waiting customers (non-dispensary) as soon as she could. No need for such rudeness or to raise her voice, suspect she was trying to prove a point to other dispensary staff. I returned my items to the shop floor as did the others.
This one member of staff was exactly why I moved over to Pharmacy2U, unhelpful and basically rude.
Diss branch know there are issues with this one member of staff. With many stores closing surely they should be grateful for any footfall.
Most unhelpful
Most unhelpful, unprofessional chemist EVER. High Barnet branch of this NHS scamming chain has to be the worst I've had the misfortune of visiting. 1 star is one star too many.
Frustration when trying to pay.
Shopping in Meadowhall, Wakefield and Barnsley all experience shocking payment systems. Barnsley and Wakefield often have very limited payment desks, long queues resulting in returning items to shelves and leaving to shop elsewhere. This is all year round not just Christmas. Meadowhall self check outs often need staff assistance, leading to frustrating delays.
Hearing centre appointment
Visited the hearing centre today at Boots Eastgate St Gloucester. Hearing test conducted by Samantha. An A1 test conducted, fully proffesional and curtious with full and understandable information. Thank you Samantha i will be assessing all info to move foreward.
Do not get a dentist prescription made up here
I had cause to get a dentist prescription made up at Boots today as I could not find an independent who stocked the medication I required.
As I am over 60 I haven’t had to pay for any prescriptions, those from my dentist and otherwise for some time. Boots however charged me immediately and when I questioned that the person serving me immediately became defence and wanted to get their manager.
My advice, do not go to Boots for anything other than routine prescriptions.
Additionally they made me wait 15 minutes even though there was no one else there. Poor service and meanness.
My daughter’s repeat prescription was…
My daughter’s repeat prescription was sent directly to our local Boots and I received confirmation on 22nd November that it had been received by them. I received no further communication, so visited the pharmacy on 1st December only to be told that the item was out of stock. I asked what the process was in this case - do they not let the customer know? The staff member said I would have received a phone call. I assured him I hadn’t and furthermore this has happened several times and nobody has ever rang to let us know - very frustrating. We have experienced so many errors at this same branch including being given the incorrect epilepsy medication for my daughter. Shoddy service and I intend to subscribe to a delivery service after losing all faith in my local branch.

Paid £100.43 for an epilepsy…
Paid £100.43 for an epilepsy prescription for my cat today. Previously, from a different local pharmacist in Bloomsbury the same 100ml of Levetiracetam cost £15. Protested several times, but to no avail.Check any prescription price before picking it up (I tried to but the assistant said she couldn’t give me that information - nonsense, because what shops charge is available online).
Good staff at Boots Canterbury
Helpful and friendly staff at Boots Whitefriars Canterbury, who looked for what I needed and asked colleagues if they weren’t sure, good training and good staff. Same helpful service at the checkout and last Christmas looking for presents and now and then through the year and today, 23rd November, same good service.
I had a flu jab booked for Boots…
I had a flu jab booked for Boots pharmacy in Cardiff Central Square. Texted me 3 times to confirm the appointment, and emailed me twice yesterday also to confirm. I arrive this morning to find there is not jabs left. Pharmacist claims he left a message, he didn’t. Incompetent.
Staff more interested in filling shelves

Snooty Customer Service
I visited my local Boots at Copper Beech Road Nuneaton to collect a prescription my GP had sent over more than four hours earlier. The sales assistant I spoke to was noticeably unfriendly and ‘snooty’ implying I might need to return the next day despite it being a simple pre-packaged antibiotic. When I explained it was urgent, she offered no understanding or reassurance. A disappointing level of customer service.
Shame on Boots for cheating their customers
I repeatedly, tried to book a flu vaccination online, but after many failed attempts, the online booking system wouldn't allow me to book any appointments. I called the telephone number on the booking system to ask for assistance and the customer service adviser very kindly booked the appointment for me. He then continued the conversation to tell me about other services Boots offer, such as the free hearing test. All was well until I received my mobile phone bill and found I had an additional charge of £13.73 for calling a premium number. On further investigation I was outraged to find it was the Boots vaccination help line. How disgusting of Boots to take advantage of their loyal customers by ripping them off and especially considering most of their customers booking a flu vaccination will be elderly or vulnerable.
Update 24/11/25. Boots have cancelled my appointment two days prior to my vaccination with no explanation. Unbelievable!!
What has happened to Boots online?
What has happened to ordering from Boots online? I have used the online service for years as we live rurally and have a trip of over an hour to visit our local store. None of my details or payment cards have changed, and I have a monthly direct debit with Boots for contact lenses that is always paid as it should be and has been active for a few years. We also pay for all our family's eye tests and prescription glasses in Boots. Yet I get a message on trying to place orders to say I've failed internal checks. I then get an email to say Boots is unable to supply what I've ordered, even though the products still show as in stock days later. Spoke to customer services who weren't interested in helping and told me to go to a store or wait 72 hours and try again online. I waited 72 hours and tried to order online again and the same thing happened. What a terrible service to offer loyal customers of Boots.
The winter flu jab service is…
The winter flu jab service is appalling. Last year I booked a number of appointments, all of which ended up being cancelled at short notice. I ended up going elsewhere and paying, despite having a corporate voucher through work which meant I didn’t have to pay.
Today I turned up for my flu jab service appointment, booked online, confirmation, no emails or texts to say it had been cancelled, I got there and they had no record of my booking, said there was nothing they could do, no apology, nothing, so I was sent away.
The service is absolutely appalling, I am so angry.
Paid for flu vaccine - no one to run the service on the day.
I had a private flu vaccination booked today for 12.20pm at Barnet.
When I arrived, I was told that no one is competent to administer vaccinations today, and all customers booked should’ve received a cancellation email. I hadn’t, only an appointment reminder yesterday.
There’s no manager on site until after 4pm to close the store. Nobody knew her surname. Surely everyone should know their manager’s name?!
I will definitely now try to get refunded and seek a reliable independent high street pharmacy to provide my vaccination - poor show Boots.
No help/guidance from Pharmacists -even though the new TV add says they can and will! No Chance Joke!
Over the last 6 months I have asked for help/guidance from the pharmacy in Boots Quedgeley Gloucester 3 times for minor ailments ie dry eyes, eczema and a mild UTI
On all 3 occasions they have said before I've even finished explaining `"You'll need to make an appointment to see your GP"
And when I eventually get through to get an appointment the GP's have all said your Pharmacists could have helped you with this!
I've seen lots of different TV adverts lately saying Boots Pharmacists can help you!! Not at Boots Quedgeley they won't!!
