Bad..AND AVOID ! LAST LENDER TO OFFER CORONAVIRUS ADVICE ON THEIR WEBSITE !!
Bad... bad .... bad and AVOID AVOID AVOID ... rubbish customer service . XERO compassion . FCA Needs to investigate Birmingham Midshires their practices are wholly unfair and unjust to vulnerable customers . THEY ARE THE ONLY LENDER NOT GIVING ANY ADVICE ON CORONAVIRUS ON THEIR WEBSITE ALSO DELIBERATELY GETTING CUSTOMERS TO CALL AND WAIT IN TWO HOUR PLUS QUEUES . All other lenders let you request payment holidays online or have simple processes. TERRIBLE.
Very bad company like to pick on people…
Very bad company like to pick on people and use dead people names to get there own way. thay even send out letters with the dead people name on them even after thay have been informed about death even after 4 years. this is a very bad company and making hell for my family there is no compassion from the company they just like to take advantage of the older people even when they are at there trying to sort it out. U get no we're with this company even if u want to pay thay just say no then take the property away and stick it in resvership even if its a low amount please please don't use this company u will regret it. thay even ignore the solicitor's when u get them involved to help sort thing out thay just do not respond at all. thay are a absolutely dreadful company to deal with
shockingly bad customer services
shockingly bad customer services, you have a choice of Mortgage companies, under no circumstances would i recommend that you choose these. Rude, unprofessional and unhelpful see the many other comments to show 'its not just me'
Literally the worst customer service I…
Literally the worst customer service I have ever had. Avoid Avoid Avoid!!! Better lenders out there. Also you have to have a financial advisor negotiate their products for you.... Without a choice! Who does BM think they are. W*nkers!
Avoid this lender if you want a BTL…
Avoid this lender if you want a BTL mortgage, there initial rates are competitive but when your fixed rate expires they will screw you, either you will have to move to another lender or pay nearly double to stay with them,1.47% for new customers 2.79% for existing customers. In my experience all the other mainstream lenders allow you to choose there best available rate, but not this lot !!
Absolute catastrophe of a company
I don't know where to start.. to increasing my borrowing rate by 8% once I moved home, to the letters (sometimes monthly) to apologise for calculating interest incorrectly, to taking direct debits for hundreds of pounds they shouldn't, then to issue cheques (why can't you just pay someone back directly when you have their details!) that bounce, absolute nightmare. I can't wait to be done with them - which should have been over a month ago, once I actually get my money back.
My worst banking experience ever
I have had a mortgage with BM for 10 years and paid every instalment bang on time.
I recently switched bank accounts and used the direct debit switch guarantee. Every other DD went ok but I received a letter from BM to say my account was in arrears.
I called them think that it would be a simple matter to explain about the switch and to pay the arrears (1 week late ) and that would be the end of the matter. I have been on the phone for over an hour.
They categorically refused to acknowledge it is their problem. I spoke to my new bank and they have put in writing that the direct debit instruction was given to BM.
BM have kept me hanging on the phone and keep saying parrot fashion that that they need 14 days to do a DD (in this day and age why do you need 14 days to set up a DD)
So if you want really poor service and no proper customer care then I can highly recommend Birmingham Midshires. If you want to be treated with respect and valued as a customer I suggest you look elsewhere because service is not included.
They Refuse to let you Withdraw Money or Close Your Account
Yes, very happy for you to have a postal account and pay in money to it. But woe betide you want to withdraw money or close your account!
Sjhould you decide to do that, they require a copy of my passport, a notarised statement from a solicitor, along with proff of the solicotors ID and qualifications, a pint of blood from your left arm, the fossilised poop of a small terrier named Bobby, permission from the Queen (and proof that she is the Queen), and all of that has to be supervised by a member of LLoyds Bank staff.
They have a massive building right next to where my family lives, but can I just pop in there and get my ID verified? OF COURSE NOT!!
Maybe they should be considering their own ID issues - they are called Birmingham Midshires but apparently to actually speak to anyone in person, you have to go to Manchester??????
It matters not to them that they have been sending me statements to my address for 20 years - they won't send me a cheque to that address. It matters not that I have asked them to directly transfer the money to a Lloyds account in the same name. No, I cannot have my money.
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOU MONEY, YOU WILL NEVER GET IT BACK.
I did not like..
Do not get a mortgate from BM
If you are thinking of getting a b2l mortgage with these people look elsewhere. Their rates are not too bad,but when your deal expires they offer different rates to existing borrowers i.e much higher. You then have to go the tedious process of getting new mortgage. Go to Godiva the Mortgage Works(Nationwide) and many others who don't treat their loyal customers like the dirt on their shoes and offer existing customers the same rate when doing product transfers!
Would be zero stars
Would be zero stars but that isn’t possible. Avoid at all costs. Fraudsters, liars incompetent, inefficient. Due to mortgage arrears - I got caught in the no way out end of fixed rate doubling payments fiasco too - they sent an agent to my tenanted property. Even though I called and they said they’d cancel the visit. The agent told my tenant I wasn’t paying the mortgage, that B&M were repossessing the property etc. How can they do that!! Upshot is the tenant stopped paying rent and B&M are repossessing. Even though the property is now sold. They’ll continue to tick boxes until contracts are exchanged. No leeway, no discussion, total jerks!!
Customer Services vary so much, Chris amazing!
Although I do not rate the way Birmingham Midshires, now owned by Lloyds? run their affairs, for example receiving ,a normal mortgage statement in January 2019 just stating arrears 'for information only' and no online facility to make a payment then receiving a repossession order on my home for arrears of £1025 until I paid them today to avoid the eviction later this month March 2019!.
I feel I need to make it known that Chris in collections who took my call today displayed excellent customer service skills, he showed empathy, was non judgmental, very understanding and definitely the best person to take my call and payment. He was very reassuring, friendly and it was a pleasure to discuss all my concerns with him. I felt so much relief after speaking with him he was amazingly helpful.
My experience prior to this was very different just a couple of weeks ago when I felt intimidated and very concerned that I would lose my home even if I paid arrears. I considered myself told off and I was dreading calling them today. Glad I did thanks Chris for an A* customer service experience!
Worst nightmare come true
Worst nightmare come true. A mortgage company only has one thing to do and that is pay the money on the day of purchase. Unfortunately BMS are incapable of performing even such basic tasks as this. Mortgage agreed in principle, but then when it came to actually getting the mortgage they reneged. Many months of stress and when we finally managed to sort it out (costing us another £60K), they failed to transfer the funds on the completion day. How they continue to operate is beyond me.
BUYER BEWARE...fraudsters!!!
BUYER BEWARE...
If I could give zero they would get it.
My fixed mortgage comes to an end and they gave me very short notice. I tried to talk to them but they will only talk to a broker (FEES)!!!!
They will not change my rate and I’m going on standard rate, my mortgage is going to double...
Fraudsters keep clear at all costs.
Let’s send them the same way as Northern Rock!!!
They are causing me to sell and go to rented. It’s disgusting they are the worst I’ve ever known in 25 years of mortgage lenders!!!
PATHETIC and INCOMPETENT
What a pathetic antiquated bank this is. With any modern bank I can open a Savings Account online in minutes or even seconds but not with Birmingham Midshires. I applied online to open a Savings Account with B M on 8th November 2017, but was told that within the next few days I would receive a letter with instructions on how to complete the application . A letter duly arrived asking for a cheque from my linked account and Proof of Identification in the form of an original bank statement not more than 3 months old, or a letter from my bank. Like a lot of people I operate paperless banking, so I had to go to my bank and ask for a certified copy of a recent statement. This was all done and sent back by return...........SEVEN WEEKS later I finally received a letter dated 28th December “Welcoming me to my New Savings Account”. When I did try and telephone I was put through to an adviser who sounded like a robot with no communication skills whatsoever. BM are truly fresh out of the ark.
Having finally connected to my account online, I was presented with pages that gave the appearance of being designed by a child. But on reflection perhaps a modern child would have done a better job!! I gave one star as there isn't a lower option. Perhaps the Directors of BM should finally start taking notice of all the negative feedback that they are receiving. As part of the Lloyds Banking Group they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
Stole my money!!!
Bad. Avoid if possible.
Received a letter from BM saying please find enclosed a cheque for £11.67 due to miscalculation of interest rates on my mortgage account.
But my partner and joint mortgage account holder got no cheque. When I call to querry they informed me the amount due did not meet the threshold so nothing would be paid. In our words...they kept my money!!
Amount owed £9.62
Theshold £10
So they kept my money!!!!
Nothing I can do really. Is this stealing?
I thinks so...keep clear of this bank.
Be warned.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. Trying to withdraw my money took more than 10 days. I changed my current account more than 6 months ago and completed the change to linked account online however when i went to try and move money I got a message saying I was locked out and had to contact by phone. When I phoned told that I needed to send a cheque as I had changed my current account. No mention of this 6 months previously when I change the details. I explained I didn't have a cheque book but was told I would need to get one. They then said did I have another current account as i could change to that one and use it which was what I did. Two days later still no access to my money. When i called they said I again I would need to send a cheque. I went back online changed it back to the previous current account and asked for a cheque book for current account. I then received an email saying that as I had changed my current account I would have to wait for a letter from BM before using the account and that i would only have to send a cheque if it was a new account. A week later never received a letter but went online just to try and it allowed me to move the money. I will now be closing this account. Customer services don't know the procedure and it took 10 days to get my money out of an easy access account.
Honest and transparent
My experience with Birmingham Midshires has always been excellent. Even three years after the account was closed, they were honest and transparent enough to send me a cheque for £95 for an overpayment refund. Well done BM!!
Truly awful, avoid if you possibly can
Birmingham Midshires is probably the most dysfunctional organisation it has ever been my misfortune to deal with. Opening an Internet Savings Account was an uphill battle, closing it is proving to be just as exasperating. Letters are routinely ignored, as are complaints. Avoid.
WARNING
WARNING - when your Fixed Rate ends, they will only offer you much higher product transfer rates, compared to new business.
This is NOT standard practice. Other banks, are happy to renew fixed rates at the end with the same deals as for new business.
Be very careful.
