We commissioned a van from this company. Despite many emails and contact with then agreeing and confirming the spec, when we came to collect it in august it was wrong
Eg manual instead of automatic, barn doors instead of tailgate, no grill, wrong awning.
It took a long time to get deposit refunded, and so far Big Wave have not reimbursed us for expenses incurred directly with this purchase which we feel they should pay as the mistakes were theirs!
They have never even said sorry or apologised.

If you are thinking of buying a camper please do your research and approach this company with caution. I am commenting here on their customer service , not on the quality of their conversions. We have ordered a van from them which has yet to materialise , despite numerous phone calls and promises of a delivery date . Their attitude to customer service is ' if you don't like it don't buy the van then' , No attempt to address our complaints and a total lack of customer engagement and communication. I only wish that I had done my research beforehand. Very disappointed in this company

We bought our van from Bude in May 2017 and have been VERY happy with it. Yes Blue Wave do have a more "casual" approach than a brand dealer but then this is campers we are talking about now and a lifestyle option. All their vans come with the manufacturers warranty and their own "promise" of after service. We had a few niggly problems which were sorted with a smile and efficiency. Even when last year one of the gas struts on the pop-top went they replaced it without any issues with a stronger model. Also without prompting, after customer feedback, fitted an elastic round the pop top to stop the cover getting caught when it is pulled down.
Yes you may be able to get a different and higher quality conversion BUT what do you really need and what is practical has to be your final consideration. These are great conversions and we love our van!

No problems with these guys... Fantastic vans cheaper than anyone else is doing them!
I went along to the Studley site with the intension of buying a van id seen on there web site but unfortunately the van I wanted had just sold!
The salesman asked what I wanted and they would build it for me but I would need to pay a £500 deposit, I said but given the fact I hadn't seen the van what if I didn't like it. Don't worry if you don't like it we can build you another or refund the deposit he said.
I was given a build date but put a bit of pressure on to get it earlier for my daughters birthday.
Long story short, I picked up the Van on Friday 17th may which was her birthday and it was far better than I could ever imaging!!!
Don't know why these guys get a hard deal, they produce fantastic vans at a better price than the competition and are so easy going and good to work with.
Give them a go you wont regret it...

Managed to get my Finance from Autofinance online and found that to be so straight forward. I was then told to go and find a van and within 1 day of looking I found BIGWAVE CAMPERS,
I fell in love with an ex RAC van and made my decision straight away.
I found Dealing with Reece and then Jason to be very chilled and relaxed and couldn’t fault a thing, my van was driven up to Coventry for my convenience and since cruising about in My new van I am talk of the town with envy. My friends and family are now considering following the dream of getting their first camper.
Just do it everyone you only live once, you will get reassurance with warranty on the vehicle so what’s to worry about!

My mum doesn’t have an account but wanted to sing the praises of Big Wave Campers of Bude.

She recently purchased a VW camper van from Big Wave Campers at Bude. As a disabled person with a limiting illness, her requirements were specific and unusual.

Having spoken to several dealers along the south coast and beyond without success, she was truly fortunate to find Rees at Bude. He was absolutely amazing! He listened, showed great understanding and could think outside the box to make the very adaptions she needed. In so doing he has made the impossible possible.

All the modifications were made quickly and professionally. Nothing was too much trouble. She can’t speak highly enough of Rees and all at Big Wave Campers. The after sales service has been second to none. The van itself runs beautifully and has already become part of the family. It is all she could hope for and will make a significant different to her life.

I cannot fault Big Wave Campers. They product looks excellent. Despite some delays Peter has kept me up to date and Jason was always happy to assist with any queries. Looking forward to using the van.
After reading some of the reviews I was a little apprehensive but I have to say the negative reviews do not reflect the experience and service I have had. This is a company who refused to let me order a van without seeing the products first, as a company they are very open with its factory and do not hide anything showing all aspects of the conversion. If you want a van built or converted to a high standard and excellently priced than I would suggest Big Wave is the first place you look

So I purchased a camper van from bwc after a long search, comparing vans like for like or as close as I could get to like for like. I have listed below my reasons for buying from bwc.
1. VW for a starters, mileage and condition matched my budget.

2. Extensive choice of interior cabinetry to choose from.

3. Twelve month warrantee on interior.

4. Extensive choice on seat covers.

5. Option of two captains seats at the front, allowing step through into rear for driver and passenger.

6. Pop top roof and top bunk easy to raise and lower with the aid hydraulic lift arms, other vans I tried from other suppliers seemed to hard to close the pop top roof and the top bunk did not lower gradually it felt like the bunk was to heavy for the hydraulic arms.

7. Layout of van interior with a full storage cupboard under the rock and rollout bed, with front and rear access .

8. Storage cupboard to the rear at low level is useful for storing wheel brace kit and other equipment, also the wheel brace kit came in a bag that matched the interior carpeting nice touch also labelled bwc.

9. All the high level cupboards three in total help increase storage capacity.

10. Cupboard under the sink holds a fair amount of gear with careful packing, the bottle store holds two good sized water tanks, and still leaves enough room for LPG bottle.

11. Combo sink and hob seams to be good quality with the cold water pumped via an electric pump 12volt I assume.

Fridge with small freezer works well and can hold a surprising amount of beers, the fridge is connected via the leisure battery, and I have found that with the fridge set to its coldest setting will run for about 4.5 hours, before the leisure goes flat, if I don't run the engine or I have not connected to the mains hook up. Which is fine by me now I have got used to it.

13. Not sure what size the leisure battery is but it seams to have a large storage capacity if I am not running the fridge but using the led lights in the rear they seam to work for days without a problem.

14. I had a choice of a set wheels brand new with matching brand new tyres all round.

15. The van had air con as well although it did not chill as good as I thought it should bwc had it tested and it needed to have the system flushed and re gassed? which was done under the warranty bwc gave me on the van so no extra cost to me.

16. Every thing was coloured coded to match the exterior paint, I asked for the mirror caps to be done in a contrasting colour of my choice bwc agreed again this was done at no extra cost.

17. The van had side bars fitted which was a bonus.

18. The trade in price that bwc gave me was £275 more than we buy any car and £175 on average more than other van suppliers.

19. I was told at the time of purchase the re sale value would be good and this prove to be the case, I had to sell the van owing to a problem I have developed with balance which is a severe condition and prevents from driving.

20. My experience when dealing with bwc was I think great overall .

So why not 5 star rating? yes there was one or two issues that needed attending to which took time to get put right but bwc did put them right.

I never give a five star rating on any thing I purchased or for any service I have received, coz I am very hard to please.

Overall my dealings with bwc was great the van was great value for money it was within my budget and the purchase even with VAT was £5.75k less than other suppliers.

I had read some pretty bad reviews about Big Wave before going to see them but decided to give them a chance anyway. We went to Bude fully intending to buy a camper within the month and took a list of sensible questions to ask when spending that amount of money, i.e. who manufactures their pop top roofs, are the seats crash tested, are there safety certificates for the gas and electric, would the advisories from the last MOT have been sorted etc.

They were really unhappy that we were asking any specific questions and kept laughing saying to just trust them, and wouldn't answer who made the pop tops etc., they just said they 'didn't know'!

We were also told that you wouldn't be able to mechanically inspect a van before it was converted, however they do say they refund the £500 deposit if you don't want it (they weren't willing to put that in writing though).

Regardless, we went away and decided that we would risk putting a deposit down and would check the van over once it arrived.

When I called back to see what vans they had in stock, I was told they would call me back in 15-20 mins. They didn't call back, so the next day I called again and they said the same. 5 weeks later they still hadn't called so I called up once more and surprisingly, they said exactly the same thing. I have never heard from them since and definitely won't be calling them again.

They clearly don't want to sell vans to anyone who will check on the quality of the van and conversion which should ring major, major alarm bells for anyone looking to buy from them! They obviously expect people to be naive and buy a dodgy van without querying it.

We have spoken to many VW owners and conversion companies who are all aware of their bad reputation or have had issues in dealing with them too, and I wish I'd just trusted the reviews instead of wasting any time on them! There are lots of negative comments on the Facebook forums to the same effect.

We now have a lovely van that we bought elsewhere and I am much more confident that it is safe and of high quality.

I bought a VW T6, coverted camper van, from Big Wave Campers in June 2017. The van was a 2016, 24000 miles, T28. At first I was delighted, the sale and px went through ok. The promise of warranties of 12 months on the coversion. VW, would still honour the warranty on the engine.
Then the problems started, first the gas struts for the pop top went wrong twice, involving 2 trips to get then repaired total mileage 250. The owner was partilcularly rude on the second visit, complaining how much it cost him to replace the struts! Telling his staff, that because I knew so much, I should replace them! Very very rude. The next problem was serious. A leak in the tailgate developed, Having spoken to big wave campers, they cancelled a home visit twice to repair. Then said the rear window would need to be smashed out and replaced. Not happy with this I visit a windscreen company, who tested the rear screen, and found there was no sealant for the window, they effectively lifted it out. They said the quality of the work done was very very poor. Total cost £72 to replace. Big wave campers refused to pay. Therefore so much for 12 mth warranty.
This made me look further at the quality of the conversion. I would recommend spending the extra and ensuring great aftercare. Big wave campers have let themselves down here. This is without mentioning the 10 weeks for the log book to arrive
