Avoid Beauty and Melody Marble Arch

Avoid Beauty and Melody Marble Arch
Unless you find a therapist who knows what they are doing, then just avoid this place. I can only recommend Mihaela who does my Caci treatment. Every other service I had at Marble Arch was very, very bad. They constantly mess up appointments, run late with appointments , get people who are not qualified to do certain services to do them as they don't have enough people available. The management is non-existent. They try to make things better after things go wrong but it is all really, really frustrating. They charge more than what the price list says as for example the price for Gel Spa manicure does not state that they will charge you £10 extra for removal of old one. Absolutely outrageous prices, horrible service and anything but relaxing place to be. Avoid at all costs. I would not have given it 1 star if there was 0 star.

Waste of money

Unfortunately I paid for 6 sessions of laser hair removal which were completely ineffective - not even the tiniest bit of hair reduction. And I have thick dark hair which is supposedly the best hair type for laser. The staff were nice and friendly and provide drinks/chocolate etc., but my sessions were incredibly hurried (sometimes less than 10 mins for a large and a small area).

I'd mention each session that the laser wasn't really working, and each time the therapist would ask if I was on the pill as apparently that was reducing the effectiveness. I've now switched laser hair removal company to Mayfair Aesthetics and the first thing I did was ask if being on the pill would affect the results - to which they were baffled and said of course not. I can confirm they're correct as the hair removal is finally working!

All in all - staff are nice but go somewhere else for a more effective laser.

Faulty goods, poor customer service

I ordered and paid for GHD straighteners but they arrived faulty. I emailed to report the fault and request a replacement. I received a reply saying that someone would be in touch within 24 hours. Two days later, having heard nothing I emailed again to be told by Gregory that I should contact GHD directly as the straighteners have a manufacturers guarantee. Had the straighteners malfunctioned after I had owned and used them for a period of time I would have accepted this, however, to supply faulty goods and make me responsible for managing the problem is unacceptable. After several unsatisfactory responses, I gave up and sent my straighteners back directly to GHD. I am currently out of pocket and without the straighteners which I paid for 4 weeks ago. I would not recommend Beauty and Melody to anyone.

The managment at the Marble Arch …

The managment at the Marble Arch Branch, are the most unprofessional and rudest staff I have ever encountered. And they also have the worst after sales customer service. Do not expect any customer service after you’ve paid for any treatment.

Do not order from them

Ordered Ghd straightener from their online shop on the Tuesday and received the shipment confirmation the next day. However the tracking code doesn’t work. It’s been 4 days since order (supposed to be next day delivery) but still not arrived. No customer service phone number. Contacted them via website twice and also emailed them but no reply. Absolutely diabolical. Do not order from them.

The most non-relaxing experience ever.

I simply MUST leave a review about this spa as my experience was so shockingly negative, especially after you read the wonderful description of this "spa" on it's website. It's hard to know where to begin...

I visited the spa with my daughter. We were both very much in need of some relaxation and pampering following some very stressful recent life events. First challenge was to find the place as there were no signs to the spa on the street. We weren't the first people to ask in the actual shop number 65, which was not a spa. The lady in there said she had many visitors all asking the same thing and she didn't know where it was.

We called the spa and they told us that they were in the hotel. And so we at last relaxed and arrived in good time, eager for our pampering experience.

Well, this is a VERY small "spa". It's basically a little area in the basement of the hotel so don't expect to be wowed by it's size or facilities. In fact, on arrival you will be asked to wait for the changing room to be free. This will involve either being sat by the door on one of three stools or, as we were, squeezed into a corner, behind a privacy screen, squashed between the changing room wall and the nail bar.

Next came the four A4 sides of paperwork that we each had to complete. They need to know ALL your medical history from medications, conditions to past hospital visits. And your email and personal details. Well, I'm sorry but we skipped that and put fake emails. It was none of their business, we don't want spam mails forever after and as I am far more medically qualified and aware than any of them will ever be it was totally laughable.

Anyway,we were then told to relax whilst waiting for the changing room. After waiting for about 20 minutes in this most uncomfortable and not at all relaxing little corner with our plastic cups of water, we were finally allowed in to the changing room. Hurrah thought I! At last our relaxation session shall begin!

Now comes the worst part of the whole spa. The female changing room. The room is barely big enough for two people. It's about a quarter of the size of their toilets actually. Inside this little hot, stuffy and totally enclosed room, there are about 12 very small lockers. You will be given a magic key to one of the lockers and the staff will keep popping in and out whilst you change in order to put towels and gowns/slippers in the lockers, one by one.

Then you have to do the changing room dance, trying to get to your locker whilst avoiding touching anyone else who is trying to get changed in the room. I am not exaggerating, there is NO space to move. Even if you are with someone it is cosy, if you are in there with strangers it's very uncomfortable for you and them. When we went in there was one other lady (equally flustered) and we we were all getting in each other's way. You also have to negotiate the laundry basket and rubbish bin. Both of which had someone's things on top, because there was no where else to put them. The floor also had people's things on so it was a nightmare. This little room was extremely hot, stuffy, cramped and just AWFUL! Plus the staff kept coming in and out too! What a ridiculous system. When we came back later to get dressed, there were actually 4 other ladies in there and with small suitcases! So six of us!!! And they were all complaining about the same thing prior to their spa experience. I hope it got better for them!

Anyway, moving out of the locker room. Well, actually before that, the massage therapist poked her head around the door and asked for my daughter. She seemed a little stressed and impatientas she was now waiting for us but as we hadn't been let into the room on time, AND had to negotiate all the obstacles in the room whilst trying to get changed, we just ignored that and politely explained that we had had to wait for the room and that we were just coming.

Once out of the pre-sauna, the therapist was standing looking very uptight, whilst my daughter had to nip to the loo. At this point I HAD to say something so I calmly explained to all four miserable looking staff present that we were there for a restful and relaxing experience and that it wasn't actually our fault that we were late as we hadn't been allowed into the changing room. I was actually feeling really angry at this point because I knew that if my daughter had one inkling of the pressure she was under she would have fallen apart. This was NOT what she needed at that time. At this point all the staff just looked away in silence, and the therapist just looked like a spoilt child as she waited for my daughter.

Moving on... My daughter had a reasonable treatment. OK, but not fantastic as the website would lead you to believe. But OK. Then it was my turn. (They can only see one client at a time.) The therapist did apologise to me at this point saying that she was very stressed and it was an exceptionally busy day.

My massage was a head and foot massage. Again, it was OK. I did ask for a very firm touch and she was extremely gentle, but at this point I was actually just looking forward to the whole experience being over! The room itself is OK with music etc but you can also hear the noise from the jacuzzi through the door.

I should point out at this point that we were both "shown around" separately. We had a member of staff do this for us. It took at least 30 seconds. The whole room is tiny and there is a very clear sauna, steam room, shower, jacuzzi and toilet. So that was quite unnecessary. I was also offered water by the gentleman at the desk to refill my plastic cup.

There are about four hanging chairs in the room so that you can sit when not in the sauna etc. You can also help yourself to water and there is a bowl of fruit on the desk.

The sauna is a small and simple sauna. Nice when I was in there as it was empty, but a bit cosy if another person joins. The steam room is quite nice with refreshing scents or menthol. The jacuzzi seats 8 but I would say that 4 is the maximum unless you want to play footsies. It's got good bubble power but is VERY noisy in this small space.

There is quite a nice little shower with a rain shower and side sprays. Then there is also a toilet with a private shower. Obviously this is in constant demand so expect to queue for either the toilet or the shower. There are dispensers in the shower for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. But they were all broken. The pumps were just floating on top of the dispenser and you couldn't get them to screw into the bases in order for them to work properly. Good job I bought my own then.

Overall, the place is small, noisy, and has a sad and depressing atmosphere. It's probably OK for hotel guests to pop down to but really this is not a "spa" as we know it. We were allowed three hours but we couldn't wait to leave so we left very early after negotiating the very hot, stuffy, sweaty and uncomfortable changing room once again. We then went for ice cream round the corner to cool off and cheer ourselves up! A much better experience.

This whole debacle cost us 60 pounds each with a Wowcher voucher.

I have had more pampering and relaxation in a garden shed.

Sorry, but this was astonishingly bad :-(
