Brilliant experience all round with the purchase of my new Balfour Beatty home in Newton Meadows. Everybody involved in the process has been great from start to finish. Special mentions go to Debbie (she’s been very patient and supportive throughout!), Mandy and Darren who have all been excellent. I’m very impressed with the quality of my home and the speed at which minor issues have been addressed by the team. If you’re thinking about buying a home at Newton Meadows, I would highly recommend you do so!

Very happy with the overall quality and build. We moved in to our property in April 2025 and had a seamless move, we are very pleased with the quality of fittings throughout, we’ve had a few snag issues and some have taken a little longer than others but believe some of this is down to contractors. The site manager Rob needs a special mention as he has been brilliant and very knowledgable at answering any build questions and nothing seems too much trouble. The only negative point really is the quality of the rear lawn which was weedy and clearly no dig out and top soil applied, I believe this is a shortcut that most builders apply and we would have taken it further if we were not going to dig it up and put fake lawn down. Having said that we love our new home and the service that we have received. Colin & Vikkii.

The housing estate was lovely and properties are well built with decent size gardens. Deborah Brown the sales agent was very knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. Cant wait to purchase our home.

Met the Site Manager and Deborah the sales lady both have been very helpful and understanding.

I have a previous review that I’ve actually run out of words so here is another about what I’m currently going through.

The last time I raised an issue with our bathroom fan it took 5 months to replace it. Balfour Beatty customer care Scotland regularly ignored my emails.

13th May - email sent about a pretty simple door issue. They replied back advising a job would be raised. Now, look at my previous review and the above comment about the fan. They like to say things are happening but they aren’t.

19th May - asking for confirmation when the joiner will attend - ignored.
21st May - another email asking for a reply please - ignored.
22nd May - you guessed it another email and ignored.
23rd May - ignored
26th May - ignored
27th May - they ruined the game by replying back.

Only took the 12 days to reply

Let’s play a game and see how long it takes to get this issue resolved.

If you buy one of theirs houses you will experience this and look at my previous review. We have an estate full of unhappy folk, 2 years on they’re still trying to sell the final property.

Avoid buying from Balfour Beatty Homes, at all costs
We are experiencing maximum disruption even after 26 months, senior management resort to bullying tactics and refuse to engage

The process of buying our house through Balfour Beatty has been very pleasant so far. We initially started conversations with one sales rep and then got passed to Vikki when she took over the office. She has been nothing but helpful and accommodating to us and giving us helpful advice and guidance when asked. The sale is just go through now and so far we have been very happy buying our new build property.

The first time visiting the development at Colsterworth, Newton Meadows we were greeted by Vicky with a warm and friendly approach. Welcomed to look around the show home and take as much time as we needed. After several visits we have now reserved a plot and our experience with Vicki so far has been brilliant, she has a very warm but professional manner and has always been open and honest with us from day one! Best new build development we have seen so far, finished to a high standard with care taken to every little detail.Fingers crossed we get our dream home!

If you don't want maximum disruption, road closures, in convenience and houses that are an eyesore in your area if you see Balfour Beatty trying to build, oppose it with all your heart. We are having to a huge detour whilst the road is closed through our village due to the builders. It has been an absolute nightmare. We end up having road crossings we don't need and life has changed completely due to the dreadful builders.

We are in the process of purchasing our home with Balfour Beatty and with Aimee's help we are about to purchase our dream home. So far Aimee has been so helpful, making this experience as smooth as possible. All questions answered promptly and helpful. Hopefully, we would move in soon - looking forward for our new home.

The experience of buying a house was so enjoyable and easy due to the staff working at Balfour Beatty.Aimee James in particular has been very helpful since day 1 and has always been there when we needed her.Thank you Aimee for all your help and support!

We are at the reservation stage of the housing journey . So far I feel Aimee has been great with answering out questions . No questions is too small or big . It seems to understand that it’s a big decision for a family to make .
I also like how upfront and transparent as a developer they have been . .

Purchased a house at the Penston Landing site in July 2023, apart from a slight hiccup on the moving day everything else has been amazing.

The quality of the build and spec of interior is much better than other houses that I looked at in the area.
The location of the site is perfect for me, having moved from Edinburgh city it has the balance of being within easy range of accessing Edinburgh with the quietness of East Lothian.

Very few issues post moving in, all of which have been promptly sorted by the builder.

Avoid buying a Balfour Beatty Home at all cost! The build quality, site representation, company leadership and customer service are the poorest I have ever experienced in a new build. At least they are consistent in their poor quality as they are just as incompetent at building houses as they have been at building children's hospitals and PPP schools for the people of Scotland. We were delayed for months moving in last year due to them 'inadvertently' forgetting to install a moisture/vapour barrier between the garage and the main structure of the house that, surprise surprise, failed to meet the building regulations and was not granted a habitation certificate. We finally moved in October 2022 and continue to fight them on major defects and snagging with the house, most notably the lack of any insulation in the front of the house between the timber kit and the brickwork - resulting in a house that has been haemorrhaging heat throughout the winter, just perfect timing in the midst of a cost living crisis and spiralling energy costs! More alarming though is that Balfour Beatty are claiming the home as an Energy Rating of B when it clearly is not but I will leave this in the hands of my solicitor to rectify. Two of their senior directors visited me in mid-Feb and committed to rectifying all of the agreed defaults in quick order, 10 weeks later and the only work to be done is 3 attempts to replace a damaged bath panel (fair to say this is by far the simplest task on the long list of things to do so this should give you an idea of the gross incompetence we are dealing with!).
They still have half of the development to sell so please please please do your homework and speak to current residents as I wish I had done more research before buying. All this being said, I'll end on a positive as its a lovely location for a development of just 60 houses and I'm sure it will be a great community once completed, for no other reason than the people galvanising around a common denominator in Balfour Beatty Homes.
