BAD BAD BAD VERY BAD
Company is so bad that they stared giving contracts to other security companies under the table to their friends who own security companies.. they had a company on the project for over 7 years another company called black onyx concepts got the contract and they started playing games by making accusations on guards from other companies to get rid of them… Balfour doesn’t care about health and safety it’s just a protocol for them so no one can claim off them… Eddie Laxton security manager is a fool… the management above them is bigger fools… hard working individuals who have been on contract have been removed and stopped from joining the new company on orders from BBV… sounds like fools running this company. The government really needs to look into this company and how they handle their business… running out of yearly budgets few months into a new year and then asking for government for more funds.. the biggest scam they have worked on is the hs2 project. Stay well clear of this company… this company only there to take funds and not even complete project on time… managers have been caught being involved in thefts on sites but they would blame the mobile drivers and guards for their own faults on sites….

Avoid Engaging with Balfour Beatty for Worker Accommodation Rentals
If Balfour Beatty approach you to rent your property for accommodation during one of their large projects – do not engage.
We spent 12 months in negotiations, during which we turned away other offers and committed significant time and resources. Terms were agreed, solicitors instructed, and numerous surveys carried out.
After a full year, they pulled out with a one-line email, without any explanation or consideration for the time and income lost.
Save yourself the headache, wasted time, and significant financial loss. Based on our experience, they are not reliable partners in property rental agreements.
Rude driver
I recommend you teach the driver of BX25 THG not to swear at people for no reason.
Dreadful company
The road works feel like they have been going on forever now and the traffic jams they have be causing is ridiculous to the point the local retail park has become a main road

This company must be the slowest in the world for roadworks absolutely useless.

Doing road construction works with loud power tools on early sunday morning at 8am which is illegal in uk.
Poor beyond belief
Not in the slightest surprised about all the negative reviews here. In my case I'm commenting on the interminable delays in a local major road project (known in Parliament as the "Road to nowhere!") which are beyond a joke. From a programme perspective, my impression is that there is a complete and utter lack of effective project management; no foresight of potential issues/challenges, no pragmatic prioritisation of work to get the main traffic flow working ASAP, nor even any evidence of a sense of urgency. They seem happy to amble on at whatever pace suits them. But I've heard they are incredibly sensitive to any public frustration as noted in other reviews! It appears to be the norm that they have to erect signs at sites warning against verbal abuse, but are oblious to the root cause! The worst part is that their dysfunctionality is usually financed out of public funds. Truly dreadful. They really are the epitome of someone who couldn't organise a party in a brewery. The most baffling aspect is that their senior management clearly don't care about rectifying their operation or some improvement would surely be evident by now.
The management of the emergency works…
The management of the emergency works on Old London Road has been extremely disappointing. While it’s understandable that urgent repairs — such as a burst sewer — need to be addressed swiftly, the complete lack of communication, planning, and consideration for residents has made the situation far worse than it needed to be.
No advance notice was given to the 10+ households who rely on access to the shared slip road. Vehicles were blocked in without warning, with no signage or instructions. I am on call for work and was forced to walk 10 minutes in the dark just to access my car. Others with children or health conditions were similarly affected — it has been highly disruptive.
After raising a formal complaint, we were told one side of the barrier would be left open so residents could pass through. Yet this has not been reliably followed. On multiple occasions, cones and barriers have again been placed across the entrance with no staff on site, forcing residents to get out of their cars to remove them just to reach their own homes. This is unacceptable.
To add to this, the area already struggles with antisocial behaviour and drug-related activity. Forcing residents to park far away and walk alone at night puts people at risk and understandably makes some feel unsafe — especially more vulnerable neighbours. This risk seems to have been entirely overlooked.
The situation could have been handled so much better with a simple “Residents Access Only” sign and more reliable communication. Instead, we’ve experienced confusion, inconsistent messages from workers, and a total lack of courtesy.
The community deserves more respect than this. I sincerely hope lessons are learned and better planning is put in place going forward.
Incompetent Balfour Beatty?
I wrote to National Highways, who winged my complaint to Balfour Beatty. It was about the enormous foul up of a road closure that they were involved in during which employees were sending traffic back and forth the wrong way. Their answer was pretty much along the lines of 'computer says' -though it was a road sign standards book rather than a computer. But what made me laugh was the following line "We will not correspond further if you continue to use phrases such as incompetent."! As far as I am aware, the word incompetent is in the OED, used in common parlance, and not offensive in anyway- unless you are incompetent and you don't like attention being brought to the fact. (PS, the Trustpilot bot didn't like the word that I have now replaced with another type of chicken namely foul- beware AI folks!
Bad Management
Balfour Beatty is an overstretched company and a bit of. Circus because of it. They care more about repeatedly filling in irrelevant paperwork to save their arse in cases of a claim than they do actually doing the work to a competent standard. That's management though, the lads are great and know what they're doing.Today is the beginning of the second week I've been working with them on sites that they haven't even surveyed.
They have no consideration for the process of completing jobs in a timely manner, there is minimal prior planning, and poor management. Just folder after folder of paperwork to protect them from being liable for anything.
We have our own processes and paperwork all completed well in advance for each job we undertake for our clients. Today they had the cheek to request we complete their own paperwork that should've been done by them. Apparently they started planning this job nine months ago.
This is my first time working with them and I'm not impressed with their planning. The sad thing is that most of their lads are overworked. Imagine only getting six hours sleep over an entire weekend after also working a full working week!
Noise nuisance
Why are you sending your workers to cut the road/pavement up at 7am on a Sunday morning, waking us all up. There is no emergency, your just taking piss. Clearly nobody likes your company with ya 2 star rating 😂. Hope you go bust.
Tyre Insurance claim joke
Diverted by their road works and hit a dark country road pothole. Tyre took two days to sort out at a high cost. I went through their compensation application and was offered just over half of what a brand new tyre cost. Wrote back asking why. No response.
Two more emails.
Nothing.
Genocide…
Wouldn’t give them any stars but you have to to write this I’ve know a company to treat there works like crap and when you speak out about it you get removed from site and lose your job, what has gone Wong with this country that company’s think it’s ok to treat workers like slaves really would never recommend this company for anything
The dumbest company ever.
Digging up road outside house early Sunday morning. Covering up number plate and when I phoned the company they know nothing about it. Try to fob me off by telling me it’s Anglian water which it isn’t as I called them. Joke of a company. No wonder our roads are so bad when companies like this dig up the road using cowboys and don’t know where they are working or why. Also seen several of these dirty vehicles driving dangerously with drivers on phones, no seatbelts, smoking in work trucks etc. What a joke of a company with zero standards Balfour Beatty are. Graham on customer services about as useful as a wet wipe in a flood.
Balfour Beatty north bridge Edinburgh
First of all I worked under Balfour Beatty for a agency, that so I've worked on numerous sites for different companies Kent Sussex and here in Scotland, with Balfour I was on the north bridge project in Edinburgh, what sticks out more than anything is there managements attention to detail regarding safety, chalk and cheese compared to outher sites I've been on , project manager rory is friendly and approachable and James and John who are also management, are top blokes to work for,who have a understanding of the men,and will go out there way to help ,over all a professional outfit, and good blokes
Blocked access to my home and threw a cone at my car
Blocked access to my home (both ends) for a small hole in the road. I asked if I could move the cone to access my home and was told to “leave it”. I then moved it about a metre to fit round. By the time I had got to my car he had put it in front of my car. I asked him to move it and he refused and told me to “f off”. I ended up driving and pushing the cone out the way, in which he picked up a different one and threw it at my car.
Violent staff
Road has been closed so had to remove cones to get home, a guy got out of his vehicle and became very abusive and physically hit me with his helmet so I had to go to a&e. Police were called and there were witnesses. Black guy in groombridge and he only attacked me as I was a women.
Damaged my property and lied about it
Damaged my property and lied about it
Balfour Beatty broke my fence when affixing a sign to it. They neither asked permission to attach the sign, nor told me about the damage they caused when doing so. After I'd returned the sign the site agent lied about having put the sign up at all as well as having caused the damage.
Slower than snail pace.
Balfour are absolutely screwing Southampton council by taking 500% longer or more to complete works across the city in comparison to private sector companies on private works.
Even with road closures the timescales are ridiculous & they know it, sites are covered in signage warning not to abuse staff as the public know they are dragging jobs out but Balfour don't want to admit to it.
Delighted with our new Balfour Beatty home
Delighted with our new Balfour Beatty house ar Westfield, West Calder We cannot fault Balfour Beatty and the service we have received from them from the day we paid our deposit right through to the after sales. We have been fortunate not to have any major issues although like all new houses we have had several minor snagging issues. In the first 2 weeks since moving in any issues were promptly resolved by the onsite team and since then we have come across a few other minor faults which have been inspected and resolved to our satisfaction by the after care team.
We looked at several builders before settling on Balfour Beatty and are more than happy with our choice. The room sizes are generous and things like downlights, which are extra with many builders, are included as standard.
Thanks to everyone at Balfour Beatty.
