It was an ok experience. I can't say it was very pleasant but at least they were professional. There was a bit of friction about a 4 x 4 car we wanted. After a bit of friction they found a solution but the first day of our vacation was a full of anxiety until the issue was settled.

We rented a car at Rhodes international airport and was greeted by Rafeal who spoke very good English and made the collection very easy we were given an upgrade and were delighted that we had been given a BMW! As we wanted to travel around the island.
Unfortunately after the second day of travel a warning light came up on dash board so we decided to return the vehicle to Rafeal . He couldn’t of been more helpful he quickly arranged a replacement vehicle so we could continue our holiday and assured us that if the bmw was fixed he would arrange to have it delivered to our hotel.
He telephoned later in the week to say they had another car a Volkswagen Passat if we would prefer it to the one we had been given and would deliver to the hotel, we were very happy with the car he had sourced when we returned the BMW so decided to keep it for the remainder of the holiday. We all felt that Rafeal gave us all exceptional service and is an asset to the Avis company big thank you Rafeal x

I rented a car from the AVIS branch in Athens city centre on Saturday the 12th of August and I returned it on the 14th of August in Athens airport at 6am.
To cover myself for any eventuality I had taken the full insurance pack as recommended by AVIS
To my surprise, when I returned to the UK I was informed by my bank that AVIS blocked the amount of £10792,38 from my bank account, almost my entire savings!!
Needless to say, this caused me huge inconvenience, embarrassment and financial lose as I could not honour my commitments and I was charged with penalties for every direct debit that couldn't be paid.
I called AVIS and, to add to my frustration, the very polite lady that answered the call asked me to send my complaint by email to their customer service department.
I did send the email and received a standard reply saying that they will look into my problem and come back to me. As I didn’t receive anything a couple of days later I called again and I was passed from pillar to post. Several very expensive phone calls later I was informed that their bank (that was located abroad?) blocked my money by mistake and they will sort out the mistake ASAP.
Their ASAP was 4 days later when my money was freed however, by that time I obtained even more financial penalties totalling over £500 without counting for the cost of the calls to Greece from the UK.
Naturally I emailed them asking how will they cover the damage they caused to me and they didn’t even have the decency to send even a reply to me.
I will never rent a car from them again.

I HAD MADE A RESERVATION FOR MYKONOS ISLAND IN AUGUST 2016 FOR A CAR FOR 4 PERSONS AND WHEN I ARIVED THERE WAS NO CAR!!!.
THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL BRING MY CAR TO MY HOTEL AFTER 4 HOURS...

Per vacanza sono stato a Corfù dal 9 al 16 luglio: tramite RyanAir ho prenotato un'auto a noleggio per il periodo.
L'auto non era quella prenotata, da una Renault Megane mi sono ritrovato un Opel Meriva (comunque della stessa categoria), vecchiotta e rigata in più punti.
Le condizioni dell'auto non erano certo le migliori, sporca e con un odore sgradevole.
Avendo l'aereo di ritorno molto presto al mattino ho fatto il pieno il giorno prima e percorso circa una cinquantina di km. non lasciando quindi il serbatoio pieno.
Avendo chiesto informazioni in aeroporto, all'arrivo, l'addetta alla consegna mi aveva tranquillizzato sul fatto che il pieno mi sarebbe stato addebitato per l'importo della benzina mancante ed anzi incoraggiato a lasciarla con il pieno da fare: mi sono trovato un addebito di oltre 86€ (previsto contrattualmente ..... ovvio che leggi il contratto con la fila alle spalle).
In Italia, quando ho visto l'addebito sulla carta, ho chiamato il call center per chiarimenti: sono stato trattato malissimo e l'operatrice, che purtroppo non si è qualificata, mi ha sbattuto il telefono in faccia.

AVIS ? PLUS JAMAIS !!!
Arrivés à l'aéroport d'Héraklion en Crète, nous nous sommes rendus au comptoir d'Avis afin de finaliser notre location de voiture (réservée sur internet la veille). L'employé qui nous reçut comprenait plutôt bien le français et le parlait un peu. Il inspirait confiance. Il nous expliqua que nous avions le choix soit de refaire le plein nous mêmes ou alors de laisser Avis s'en charger (ce qui d'après lui était financièrement plus intéressant car quelques centimes gagnés par litre) On lui répondit que nous verrions ça le moment venu, et il nous fit signer le contrat (tout en anglais)
PREMIER PROBLEME :
La voiture qu'on nous avait attribuée n'était pas celle réservée : on nous répondit que nous étions "surclassés" ... (il s'est en fait avéré par la suite que le véhicule en question avait un embrayage plus que fatigué ! donc aucune reprise aux changements de vitesse, une accélération molle et laborieuse ... bref un enfer !)
DEUXIEME PROBLEME :
Il nous fut demandé de signer le constat d'état du véhicule sans vérification préalable possible ! car, ceci nous amène au problème suivant :
TROISIEME PROBLEME donc :
Le véhicule n'était pas sur place, contrairement aux indications mentionnées sur le site. Il nous fallut donc attendre leur navette
(ne pouvant de surcroit contenir que dix personnes : on a donc dû faire la queue pour prendre la suivante) afin de nous rendre sur un parking distant de quelques kilomètres afin de récupérer ladite voiture.
Nous qui avions pensé qu'en réservant via interne nous allions gagné un temps précieux, il n'en fut rien puisqu'il nous fallut deux bonnes heures entre notre arrivée au comptoir et notre départ en voiture ! (en effet tous les renseignements que nous avions fournis nous furent redemandés, de même que les imprimés que nous avions remplis en ligne furent refaits !)
BOUQUET FINAL : A la fin de notre séjour (4 jours), craignant d'être en retard pour rendre la voiture, nous avons décidé de ne pas refaire le plein comme on nous l'avait proposé. Il nous restait alors un bon tiers du réservoir. Et comme on nous avait facturé d'avance le plein d'essence, on devait donc logiquement nous recréditer le prix du carburant restant dans le réservoir ;
Et bien pas du tout ! l'employé (le même qu'au départ) nous fit comprendre (car subitement il ne parlait ni ne comprenait plus du tout notre langue) qu'on avait opté pour un forfait et que dès lors on devait payer le plein quelle que soit la quantité utilisée !!! et là il nous indiqua une petite case qu'il avait pris soin de cocher à notre insu. Heureusement que nous n'avions pas eu le temps de refaire le plein avant de restituer la voiture car même dans ce cas, on ne nous aurait pas remboursé un seul centime !!
Nous avons maintenant une idée précise de l'enseigne AVIS : C'EST UNE ENTREPRISE QUI N'A AUCUN SCRUPULE ET NE RECULE DEVANT AUCUNE RUSE POUR ESCROQUER SES CLIENTS !

Habe im September 18 Tage Kategorie Opel Astra ab Chania Flughafen gebucht.
Schalter in Flughafenhalle, Angebot Full to Full und Kasko ohne Selbstbehalt (über CardelMar). Personal freundlich, Wartezeit noch in Ordnung. Organisatorisch hat alles gut und plangemäß funktioniert.

Aber: Der Opel Astra war technisch und optisch schon sehr gebraucht. Auf der Fahrt stellte sich heraus, dass das elektronische Motormanagement defekt war und der Wagen ruckte und hatte bergauf überhaupt keine Kraft (1. oder 2. Gang erforderlich). Fatal auf einer Gebirgsinsel wie Kreta. Nach 3 Tagen fuhr ich zur Verleihstelle und das Auto wurde problemlos getauscht. Wehe, man ist in so einem Fall bereits unterwegs in den Südosten!
Der Ersatzwagen, ein Renault Laguna funktionierte einwandfrei, war aber ebenfalls technisch (klappernde Gelenke und Lager, Kaputtes Radio und Uhrdisplay) und optisch sehr gebraucht.

Réservé une voiture à l'aéroport d'Arhènes pour 23h00 chez AVIS (via carrentalrepublic) car vu sur AVIS.GR que leur agence à l'aéroport était ouverte 24h/24 (Mon avion arrivait à 22h45)
Location prépayée par internet.

Contrat signé à 23h27, avec 2 lignes notées SERVICES OPTIONNELS
Livraison/reprise 28,29 €
Option plein de carburant 70,07 €

J'ai bien rendu la voiture au même endroit, avec le plein d'essence, mais j'ai eu 28,29 € de prélevé sur ma carte bancaire au retour !

Cette ligne livraison/reprise semble correspondre à la rencontre avec le guichetier après 23h00 !!!

Ce sera ma dernière expérience avec AVIS en Grèce (et ailleurs !)
