I was looking primarily for AIS then came across the Onwa KP39A. It looked perfect as it would provide a back up plotter as well as the AIS I wanted. I exchanged messages with Alan who explained perfectly what the equipment could do and was capable of. I decided to go ahead and purchase and Alan entered all details in for me before the system arrived. Great communication throughout, great service and decent piece of kit at a reasonable price. It's now my main plotter and my Lowrance is back up.

After a lot of emails and advice, I obtained the KP-39 for the small sailing yacht that I am refurbishing. Alan really is a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to this type of equipment, unlike me, so I greatly appreciated all his advice and input. Because I am refurbishing the boat, I haven't tried the plotter at sea yet, but I've been 'sailing my desk' at home, and I am very pleased with all aspects of the plotter. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alan to anyone looking for the right help and equipment for their boat. Thanks Alan ;-)

I contacted Alan as a result of a forum recommendation. Spoke with him and he provided the sanity check on what I required and whether it would do the job. KP39 ordered and arrived within 3 days. I wired it to the 12v on board my Beneteau 361 and all worked fine. Next day I connected to the B&G network and it fed the radio, repeaters, autohelm.
I use Navionics charts and ordered from Alan. Arrived 2 days later. Downloaded charts and upgraded to all Uk version. Called Alan when on board and he advised on which way round micro SD fits and then talked me through settings. Alan has a very helpful calm manner. He then gave me some options re my Ait 200 and wifi server.
Next day identified the nmea feed and turned on the AIS and wind screens. The KP39 now overlays the chart with AIS vessels. I have a wind repeater screen down below. Depth is displayed below. Tide charts. Sun and moon rise/set data,
I spent a hour with the manual downloaded from ONWA site and now have all the basics cracked. KP39 is in the navigation desk but I have a tablet available on deck by wifi supplying info. This chartplotter does far more than the Furuno 1850 it replaced at a significantly more cost effective price whilst keeping everything nmea 0183 kept the network working exactly as before.
The plotter is more plastic feel than the 20 year old furuno, however thats progress. The buttons are positive and the screen sharp and adjustable.
Alan is somone I would go straight back to. The ONWA product is excellent, I would say no frills, but it does have frills !!! Thanks Alan

Alan has been very helpful, as a newbie to the AIS system I had lots of questions, Alan guided me through the process with patience and sage advice. Top company.

Alan is extremely helpful and the purchasing experience is a cut above the chandlers. His thorough understanding of the product gives one great confidence. Mine initially had a problem but seems to be fine at the moment and if I have any further issues I'm confident they will be resolved. Onwa seems to be outstanding value and I hope I will be able to find it a useful tool to compliment charts.

Good service. Very good chart plotter AIS transponder. The screen is a bit too reflective in bright sunlight. Needed to use external aerial. The software is a bit clunky at times. Great value for money.
