I have been on the photography course for 3 months and its going really well. The lessons are easy to follow and the tutor always responds to any questions really quickly.

This course is not only perfectly planned out ( which makes it straightforward to follow), but it allows one to connect with their inner artist even more than before! The support of the tutors is incredibly helpful and they aim in pushing you out of your comfort zone in order to propel you forward into the next stage in your journey as an artist. I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering it! I am extremely grateful for the value this course has brought to my life and education.

I started my course a few weeks ago, and it’s been great so far! The tutors are really helpful and supportive. There are lots of resources, lectures, tutorials, and recordings, which make it easy to learn. My first project on photography is super interesting, and I’m learning so many new things about this art form.

Ive found the course to be refreshing. I have the freedom to be as creative as I wish, with the back up of my tutor if I’m feeling unsure about my next project. I’m not restricted to following the same path as other students which makes my art so much more expansive than before. OCAD gives you flexibility and support to achieve the best possible results in a stress free environment at your own pace.

This college is so supportive and engaging. As someone with additional needs, my tutor gives me achievable goals, flexible timelines, and support when I need it. I was unsure when i started whether I'd be able to finish, but i am much more confident in my art and myself now.
There's a very friendly atmosphere and ways to interact with other students.

Just started using this college it's amazing I get so much help and my tutor is really friendly and let's me work at my own pace .

I have recently joined this art course (level 2 art and design) and am really enjoying it so far. It took me a bit of time to get my head around at first, but once I got the hang of it it seems like a really good course that allows you to discover lots of new techniques and use different media. The teacher seems very helpful and friendly. I have given it four stars as I haven't been doing it long enough to experience the full course yet.

My son is in his second year with OCAD he is doing the level 2 art course and is enjoying the experience. my son is autistic so he does like the structured modules he’s worked with in the past and his tutor mrs Rees has been fantastic with him, very patient, understanding and always there to lend a helping hand to him. He has struggled with the amount of work and timing with having other school commitments too but again mrs Rees has always supported Connor through this. So thank you!

Who said you can't study Art & Design online?

I've been amazed by the extent of the support of the teachers, the wide range of resources available, and the way in which the course has genuinely allowed me to progress my art skills.

I found the structure of the course (broken into building-block 'tasks') was perfect for me - plenty of guidance through the lessons in the first half of the course, which creates the ideal foundation to really explore whatever you'd like to in the Final Themed Project. I thought the Skills Builders were a really interesting idea which massively helped me with my confidence in art and exploring which areas I particularly liked. Equally, though, I discovered the course offered maximum flexibility, whether you wanted to attend the live lessons and follow along, or use the digital resources and work in your own time.

The biggest struggle I faced was with timing, due to exams and other commitments. As there was so much content on the course, I sometimes found it difficult to get the work done. However, my tutor was incredibly understanding and we found a great solution, allowing me to complete the course to the standard that I had hoped.

As an autistic student, the online format, the support given and the 'task' structure that makes up the course has been just what I needed to develop my skills and confidence.

There are elements that may not be present in a face-to-face art course, such as the Additional Tasks, which ensures that the students can meet all the requirements of the exam board.

I appreciate this is becoming quite a long review, so well done if you've made it this far, but I wanted to say a massive thank you to OCAD because this course has really given me back my confidence and I have enjoyed art again for the first time in several years.

If you're considering an online art course I cannot recommend OCAD enough - they are organised, supporting and experienced and I have thoroughly enjoyed the last two years!

I am now on my second year at OCAD and I must say that I am very much enjoying what I am learning. It is a very flexible course but well set out and organised.
My teacher is Mrs Rees, she is a very good at replying despite the many students she has to get around to. She gives you her full attention when you need help with an assignment/ idea you may have. I have also noticed that us as students are constantly being updated with the latest news, and when big assignments may be due/coming up.
Despite my ups and downs with my Art journey, Mrs Rees has always done her best to encourage and get me back onto a steady art path, making sure that the work I am doing is being enjoyed and not made a stress, yes it can be stressful at times if you allow it to be.
Overall my experience at OCAD has been a great way to start my art journey, and hopefully the many other students thinking of learning with OCAD. :)

Great learning experience. The staff were very helpful and answered any questions and feedback at a timely manner at all times. The only draw back was receiving a limit overview of the final project that was rectified when a more detailed set of instructions was released on the system later, which I was informed. It didn't cause a huge problem but it would have been nice to received it slightly earlier. I would highly recommend this online course due to the excellent tutorials and constructive feedback.

the level 3 art & design foundation diploma gives lots of creative freedom and encourages individuality & self expression which i really enjoyed. the biggest challenge was the independence you are given, but it ultimately builds character and experience working solo, so i am grateful for this. 100% recommend 👍 the tutors are friendly and genuinely love art and design which is always nice!

The course structure was accommodating to my learning style, providing the flexibility that many other courses can lack. It was very detailed and provides you with all the information you need to get the best grade possible.

With a well-balanced mix of independent study, collaborative learning and tutorials, with both technical and theoretical components, this course has been the perfect preparation for university, bridging the gap between the more structured approach to studying art and the self-directed, individualistic learning style required for university.

The tutors I interacted with were consistently supportive and encouraging, being a massive motivation and help with the course.

The only minor downside was the occasional challenge in communicating ideas clearly with tutors, especially by chat. However, I feel this is to be somewhat expected with online communication, and it could have been easily combated with a video call, which was always an available option (I just decided not to when possible as it’s not my preferred method). If you’re a visual communicator like me and struggle with finding the right words or dislike video calls and meetings—just be mindful that you might not fully benefit from the tutors without embracing all the communication tools available.

Overall, this course has been amazing and much better for me than traditional schooling has been, I would definitely recommend it.

I’ve just completed my first year of this course, and I’m very happy with the course content and tutors. I have learnt so much, and feel that my drawing and painting skills have really progressed and improved. The course has given me opportunity to try out different mediums and create different genres of art.

I love the flexibility of this course, and it allows me to work at my own pace. There are weekly lessons, which are well structured and informative, and the perfect length. You can attend these lessons or watch the recordings when convenient for you.

My tutor (Mrs Rees) always responds quickly with feedback and guidance. Once I’ve completed the course I aim to study the next level with OCAD.

There are always people available to help and guide you. You are allocated a tutor who will check in with you regularly, and whom you can reach out to anytime. Aside from that, there are also group meetings for a variety of purposes: teaching you a new technique, sharing work for feedback, etc. Students can also reach out to each other communally, for example for feedback. Many examples exist to guide your work, too, if you’re confused.

This course has been extremely in-depth and thorough, the lessons are excellent and Mrs Rees (the tutor) makes things understandable and very step by step, she is very supportive and always offers private help and advise if needed. The recorded lessons were perfect for us to fit in around other commitments and can be taken at the learners pace. The skills built in the first year of the course equip the learner for the second year. Huge confidence builder. The course allows the learner to follow their own strengths but also builds on any weaknesses in a safe, supportive way. As a parent I have supported my son on the course as he has additional learning needs, but it has been excellent. As a parent I have also felt very supported with any worries or questions, the tutors respond and support super fast and nothing seems like too much trouble. Any difficulties that have arisen they have always had suggestions and alternative options to help! Highly recommend!!!
