I had a fabulous Tutor on my Level 2 Photography course, really supportive and knowledgable. I found there weren't many places I could pursue the creatives arts as a home ed student doing GCSEs. OCAD had a good range and I was able to choose an option that suited me best. I hope to be able to study more with OCAD in future.

I learnt so much during my time at OCAD studying for a Level 3 in Art and Design. The course is clearly structured and can be studied over 1 or 2 years, allowing flexibility to study alongside work and other commitments. Communication between students and OCAD is excellent and you are given a study plan when you begin the course, allowing you keep on track. What I think makes OCAD stand out is that everyone is assigned a tutor who you can meet over Teams. I found this invaluable: as a part time student I met my tutor every two weeks, received feedback on my work and discussed what I needed to do next. My tutor, Jo, continually challenged me and was a great source of inspiration and encouragement. The course itself gives you the flexibility to choose from a wide range of artistic disciplines in the first stage of the course, then you can specialise in the second and final stages of the course. All the tutors work in their chosen creative field alongside their OCAD work Students are also given plenty of support with UCAS applications and building a strong portfolio, either for university applications or working in the creative industry. I would highly recommend OCAD to anyone considering studying there.

As a mature student with family responsibilities this course gave me the opportunity to study level 3 foundation in art and design and gain the UCAS points I will need for university. The tutors at OCAD were excellent at gently pushing me to stretch myself - you get out of it what you put in and that’s exactly as it should be at level 3. Working through the course I’ve been encouraged to experiment and take risks and ultimately have produced work I wouldn’t have attempted prior to starting. I’m really proud of all that I’ve achieved during the course and very grateful for the support I received to help me achieve my goals.

My Daughter completed this art course this year. It was a very well organised and comprehensive course. The teacher, Mrs Rees, was very prompt at giving great constructive feedback for work. Live and recorded lessons for the first year were excellent, and personalised feed-back during the second year was also excellent. My daughter is now set to start an art course at further education college. Thank you Mrs Rees!

Jemma Lewis helps allow students to achieve beyond the level they are working at the moment, she is encouraging, reliable and most importantly, kind.

The Level 2 RSL Certificate for Music Practitioners course with Jemma Lewis has been a fabulous experience for my daughter.
Jemma is such an encouraging teacher who leads the students to stretch both their performance and practical skills.
It's been a delight to watch my daughter grow in all areas musically, but most particularly in her confidence. I would highly recommend this course.
Great for homeschoolers and for those whose gifts are practical and not just academic.

My experience at OCAD was great in terms of the processes I have learned around creative projects. I think the online format they offer gives many advantages, such as the flexibility to adapt the path to your life rhythm.

This has been such a fantastic course (Level 3 Art foundation), my daughter also did the Level 2 Art course. The particular course the tutor has been amazing and has understood my daughter and her needs. She is autistic and finds it hard to work if it's not in her special interest. The tutor has helped to adapt so that the work can be tailored to this. For anyone looking for a further education online this is great.

The level 3 diploma course in photography has been very beneficial in my studies to be a professional photographer. When I first enrolled in this course, I was eager to find a place where I truly belonged—somewhere that encouraged me to think creatively and explore art beyond traditional boundaries. Before joining, I struggled to find environments that inspired me to think outside the box in the world of art. At the beginning, I felt quite scared and uncertain because I wasn’t very experienced in this field, although I had some basic skills. Over the years, however, my abilities have improved significantly, and I have thoroughly enjoyed this learning journey.

Art and Design Level 2 Course -
This review is being written as a parent of a learner. The quality and depth of this course is excellent. The amount of resources, recorded or live lessons and support via the online site far exceeded my expectation. The support from the tutors for the learner or for a person supporting a learner is excellent. The more effort and commitment the learner gives the better. My main tips for anyone thinking about completing this course would be: Be committed, communicate with the tutors, keep up to date with all deadlines, the more time and effort you put in the more you will achieve and get from the course.
This has been an excellent learning experience.

I’ve just finished the Course and it suited my needs to a tee.

I was introduced to a huge number of different art mediums and skills. I was a beginner at the start of the course, and Mrs Rees was great. She’s so encouraging and it’s a wonderful low pressure way to learn, as you can attend the live online sessions or simply watch them when you want to.

I found the course very accessible and flexible, with a lot of managing my own time and deadlines, and no group work or presentations. It was very open, with heaps of opportunities to direct your modules so you could study a particular artist, style or medium you are interested in. This all worked very well for me.

I communicated with Mrs Rees via online chat once a week to show her my work and she would respond with helpful and thoughtful feedback and comments.

I wasn’t sure how this course would go for me but I’m so glad I gave it a go, as I loved it.

Thanks OCAD, I recommend this course to people I know, especially people who like to work at their own pace and like to work independently.

I hope to go on to become an illustrator, as I’ve found I love to tell stories through images.

I was doing a 2 year Art course with OCAD and my experience was horrific!
Every topic I was doing was hard and confusing. The tutor Mrs Rees, was awful at explaining what to do in the live lessons and when I would ask for help and advice she wouldn’t see it for about a week and would see my message when live lessons would start. The feedback was the worst its like they can’t be bothered to look and read the PowerPoint and art; when the tutor would say to include this in your PowerPoint and art I would have already have done it, it’s a massive headache that never ends. I have additional needs and had a massive burn out even to this day. I used to love doing art but now when I think about doing art I end up crying and hyperventilating on the spot because of it. The course was so pressuring I couldn’t get my tasks in on time because there was so much to do. Don’t even get me started on the stupid risk assessment, it was a nightmare to do I couldn’t even fit in on 1 page of a PowerPoint it would be sticking out of the page.
Don’t do the course!
