In attempting to unfreeze my credit…
In attempting to unfreeze my credit report temporarily, the website says they aren't currently able to show the status of my credit freeze. Every time I've tried to do this over the last five years, I've gotten the same thing. Yesterday the chat agent said they unfroze my credit but the store says it's still frozen. Back on with a new agent today. Same issue with their webpage. Seems it would be cheaper for them to have a webpage that worked rather than make me go through a real person every time.
Shoot me now!
I spent 6 hours today trying to set up my account. And it will take another 30 days, at least. We were given a free 2 year subscription due to a data breach. When I tried to sign up, I coildn’t use my email address as I had had an account in the past. They discovered my home address was also wrong - after living here for 30 years and previously having an account with them. I now have to open a dispute to rectify the home address, which takes 30 days, and then will still have to deal with the email issue! Meanwhile, my identity might be compromised. Yet, my husband called, had the same issue, and they resolved it over the phone - no idea why they could change his home address last week, but no one can do it this week.
Customer service NIGHTMARE - TRANSUNION
Customer service NIGHTMARE! When trying to set up an account with TransUnion, I was on hold for 3 hours and 45 minutes the first time, and 1 hour 45 minutes the second time. These people barely speak English, have no management, and the company is severely understaffed. Quite frankly, nobody gives a damn at this company. I was trying to help my elderly parents register for myTrueIdentity, and was only able to register one account in a single call, so, I'll have to go through hours more for their static-laden hold music before I get through to an inhumane and rigid staff member. Stay away from this horrible organization!
What a joke this company is
What a joke this company is. You cannot create an account to dispute anything because AS "they" say your information "does not" match theirs. Ha-ha!
So where did you "steal" my information from because I never gave it to you and now you say my (REAL) information doesn't match your "FABRICATED"information !
Transunion you really suck at what you are suppose to do......."help customers access and correct misinformation on their credit report".
Instead "YOU BLOCK CUSTOMERS OUT BASED ON INFORMATION YOU GATHERED and/or "STOLE" FROM SOMEONE ELSE" and then you expect us "to know what the "source" is that your using for comparison purposes and "what" information is actually "different".
If I could...I would wish for this company to cease to exist! What an absolute waste of time, space and energy to have to deal with such a monstrously self serving organization as yours!

I bought a truck from a well known dealership. I paid on it a year and a half. On time every month! My credit went up to 690. I decided to refinance the truck for a lower interest rate. The company paid off my 1st loan and started me new on less interest. Transunion dropped my credit score 42 points. For paying of 1 loan and starting a new loan. At this rate I wont live long enough to see my credit score up enough to get a good interest rate or buy anything new. Transunion will destroy you for paying off a loan and starting a new loan.
TU Makes It As Hard As Possible
I recently tried to get my free annual TransUnion credit report online (the easy way), but was not able to do so. Instead, I had to fill out and mail a form.
A couple weeks later, I got my credit report, and noticed that it said that if I wanted to permanently opt out of promotional lists (i.e., they sell your data), I had to get the "Notice of Election" form. Said form is not available online, you have to call or write to get it. After three phone calls, I wasn't able to get by their automated system, so I had to make the request via snail mail.
My experience tell me that TransUnion is making it as difficult as possible to do things that benefit the individual.
Out of the blue they contacted me and…
Out of the blue they contacted me and offered me continuous credit monitoring for free. I thought why? There's no way to reach out to them to ask. I watched their one minute 44 second video. Sounds great but why are they giving me free credit monitoring when I didn't ask for it? I thought already had free monitoring Services because of fraud perpetrated by the loss of my phone number through T-Mobile in the beginning of the year. TransUnion supposedly was contacted then. I'm glad I decided to stop here first before I gave them any information. So thank you all for your reviews I'm going to just ignore the email.
Flatly Refuse To Fix Reporting Errors
I recently paid off a consumer proposal. My credit report was full of errors that were killing my credit score. TransUnion also had the wrong mailing address on file. I've now been going through two months of Hell to get TransUnion to correct these errors.
TransUnion operates in the stone age because they are too cheap to allow online or email submission of disputes. Everything has to be sent by snail mail. This is a problem when they have the wrong mailing address on file so their letters aren't received by the customer. I sent the first dispute package to them in June containing their completed dispute form, cover letter, proof of my identity, address, and the status of the closed and paid off accounts they were reporting as open and delinquent.
Two weeks later I found a letter from them lying on the floor of the mailroom of my building. It had the old incorrect address which they didn't correct as I asked, so it was delivered to the wrong apartment. The letter claimed they had fixed all of the errors but there was no copy of my updated credit report and no list of what they "fixed".
Not only did they NOT correct any of the errors I disputed, they added new ones, like listing long closed credit card accounts included in the consumer proposal as open and delinquent with missed payments. I called them and got a rude individual with a heavy foreign accent I could barely understand. They wouldn't even correct my mailing address over the phone and told me to mail another dispute, which I did.
Now it's almost a month later and I have received no response to the second package I sent on Aug 5. My credit report still shows the incorrect mailing address, which explains why I received no reply. A "closed in good standing" secured credit card account which was closed four years ago now shows as open and delinquent.
The same card shows the correct information in Equifax, so it's not the fault of the creditor. My TransUnion score has actually dropped again due to their refusal to correct their errors and their additional errors. By contrast, Equifax corrected almost all errors the first time I filed a dispute, and my score with them went up by 60 points.
I've reached the end of my patience with these incompetents. I can't apply for credit or do anything else to boost my credit score because of them. Two months and they can't even correct a mailing address?? Ignoring disputed information, lying that they fixed it when they didn't, and adding more screwups??
And what's worse is that two current accounts I'm paying off which used to report the payments each month are now only being updated by TransUnion several months at a time, which means my monthly payments aren't visible to creditors and my balances and credit utilization are being displayed as a lot higher than they should be. Equifax continues to display the payments correctly each month.
I've mailed a third and final dispute package to TransUnion. They will have two weeks to fix these problems before I file a formal written complaint with Consumer Protection Ontario under the Consumer Reporting Act. Too bad I can't afford to sue them in civil court for defamation, wasted time, postage fees and mental distress.
This company is now heading to Court
This company is now heading to Court
They are holding misleading information regarding my credit file despite my providing Court information to the contrary
Frankly companies like Transunion should not be allowed to operate
I will be asking the Court to suspend their business
The only way to deal with such “ criminal “ companies is to sue for substantial redress
A Shame We Haven't Got A "Negative Stars" Option
I'm copying my review of Experian because it applies to Transunion as well. Please forgive the repetition.
This week I had the misfortune of needing to contact the "3 Major" agencies: Experian, Equifax and Transunion, because something on their records prohibited me from opening a regular bank account. Come to find out, the source of my trouble was out-dated information on their records.
Let me say that Equifax had amazing information history and through that, the gentleman there up-dated the information immediately, professionally, and courteously. And yes, in a most secure manner. In mere moments, all was done.
Not so with Experian. (Nor with Trasnsunion, but that's a separate review.) At Experian, the "representative" barely spoke English, I felt I couldn't communicate sufficiently, and the general tone from the other end of the line was apathetic at best. Experian too has out-dated information and instead of having the capabilities (or the desire, so it sounded) to confirm my identify and rectify their records as expeditiously as Equifax, I was given a list of all sorts and variations of documentation that had to be sent to them. Worse, I was told it could take "approximately 5 business days" to up-date my records.
Seriously, these people literally steal our information and then demand that WE prove to them, our identity and correct data. It is, in my opinion, a repulsive situation that any business actually gives them any credibility at all, especially considering the now-known fact that they can't (or won't) keep their files current.
I've no patience for this nonsense and would rather continue my financial situation as it is rather than be subjected to the likes of the experience with Experian. I should think a direct apology to me is in order, and an immediate rectification of the situation with-out further delay, though I don't expect either.
