If you could rate lower, I would. They do a bait and switch. Give you a nice estimate and promise lots of service then show up on the day of the move demanding more than twice the money, in cash, before they start. Not just that, but things were broken, smashed, filthy and they were not careful of our newly cleaned home at all. Even laughed about messes they made.

1 STAR — DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

My move from Fairbanks, Alaska to Raleigh, North Carolina has been one of the most frustrating moving experiences I have ever dealt with.

When I booked the move, I paid roughly a $3,000 deposit based on an estimated volume. Before pickup, AmeriSafe had me complete an updated inventory/survey of what was actually being moved. After I submitted it, I was told I needed to pay thousands more because they now estimated my shipment would take up significantly more cubic feet. I was specifically told that once the shipment was actually loaded and measured, I would only be charged based on the actual cubic footage.

That should have been straightforward. It has not been.

Since my belongings were picked up, communication has been absolutely unacceptable. I have repeatedly had to chase AmeriSafe for basic information about where my household goods are, what the actual shipment volume was, what I actually owe, and when my belongings will be delivered.

AmeriSafe subcontracted the move to Rapid Relocations/Rapid Relo, and instead of taking ownership of the situation, I have repeatedly been told they will contact the carrier and get back to me. Then I hear nothing.

Most recently, I was told my shipment would be delivered this week. I specifically coordinated delivery for Wednesday or Thursday and TOOK TWO DAYS OFF WORK based on those representations. Wednesday came and went with no movers. Thursday morning I was still trying to get someone to tell me where my belongings were and whether they were even coming.

I emailed AmeriSafe again explaining that their contractor had failed to show up and that I had lost two workdays waiting for a delivery that never happened. I was told they would look into it and get back to me. Again, no meaningful update.

This is an interstate household move involving thousands of dollars and essentially everything I own. A customer should not have to repeatedly chase a moving broker for basic shipment information after trusting them with their household goods.

My experience has been:

- Price increases before pickup
- No clear final accounting of the actual cubic footage
- Extremely poor communication after pickup
- Repeated promises to “check with the carrier” without meaningful follow-up
- Delivery dates communicated and then missed
- Two days of work missed waiting for movers who never arrived
- Constantly having to initiate contact myself just to find out what is happening with my own belongings

At this point, I would absolutely not recommend AmeriSafe Van Lines. If you are considering using them, understand that the company you book with may not be the company physically moving your belongings, and based on my experience, getting AmeriSafe to manage problems with their subcontractor has been extraordinarily difficult.

I will update this review if and when my household goods are finally delivered and the billing/cubic-footage issue is resolved.

My experience was an absolute nightmare. They gave me a low quote, took my deposit, and then basically vanished. After that, getting anyone to answer calls or emails was like pulling teeth. I was left hanging during my move when I needed support the most.

The customer service was rude, unhelpful, and completely unacceptable. If you’re dealing with Shannon or Kimberly, do yourself a favor: don’t fall for the sales pitch and don’t hand over your money without doing serious research.

A cheap quote means nothing when the company disappears after getting paid.

Save yourself the headache. Book literally anyone else. 1 star is generous.

My biggest issue with AmeriSafe is not simply that moving is expensive or that plans can change. It is that I do not feel the moving process was transparently explained to me before I signed and paid.

I did not understand when booking that AmeriSafe was acting as a broker and that another moving company would actually be handling my belongings. While certain information may have been included somewhere in the contract I signed, there is a major difference between putting something in paperwork and clearly explaining material information to a customer during the sales process.

I was moving from Massachusetts to New York. When I contacted AmeriSafe, I specifically requested a morning move. Despite repeatedly trying to determine when the movers would arrive, I was never given a meaningful ETA. The drivers ultimately did not arrive until around midday.

More importantly, I was never clearly told during the booking process that my belongings might not be delivered the same day—or that delivery could potentially take several days. Had that been clearly explained to me, it absolutely would have affected my decision to book with this company.

Because my belongings did not arrive that evening, I ended up sleeping in my car with my cats because I had no access to my household items. I received everything the following morning only because the actual moving company AmeriSafe contracted with went out of its way to accommodate me and rearranged/cancelled other work so that they could deliver my belongings sooner. I genuinely appreciate the carrier for making that effort. My complaint is primarily with the expectations and information provided by AmeriSafe during the booking process.

Then there is the pricing.

My original estimate was approximately $3,000. I provided AmeriSafe with a substantial inventory of what I was moving from the beginning. Was my inventory absolutely perfect down to every single item? No. But it was detailed enough that I cannot understand how a move initially estimated around $3,000 ultimately became more than $7,000.

That is not a minor adjustment. That is more than double the amount I was initially led to expect.

After my experience, I looked into other customer complaints and realized that I am far from the only person describing issues involving significantly increased pricing, confusion regarding AmeriSafe’s role as a broker, third-party carriers, and delivery expectations.

I understand that I signed a contract, and I take responsibility for that. But consumers should not have to discover the most consequential parts of a moving transaction by carefully interpreting contract language after they have already been sold on the service. Important information—especially who is actually moving your belongings, how pricing can realistically change, when the carrier will arrive, and whether your belongings will arrive the same day—should be explained clearly before a customer commits thousands of dollars.

The actual movers did their best to help me. AmeriSafe’s sales and communication process is what I would caution people about.

If you are considering using AmeriSafe, I strongly recommend asking IN WRITING before paying anything:

• Is AmeriSafe physically transporting my belongings, or are you brokering my move to another carrier?
• What is the name of the actual carrier?
• What is the realistic maximum amount my estimate could increase?
• Is pickup guaranteed for the requested time?
• Will my belongings be delivered the same day?
• If not, what is the actual delivery window?

I wish I had asked every one of those questions before signing.

Based on my experience, I would not use AmeriSafe again.

spoke with Thomas, after he gave me a HIGH quote, he said "is that what I do is waste peoples time calling for quotes at 6:30 in the morning?" The RUDIST employee I have EVER spoken with!! I gat a text from 508 # Called back to the 877# I was given by Consumer Affairs. Thomas answered. Even if his quote was lower I would not choose him, he was so rude!

Do your due diligence before using a broker as a mover. These people are deceitful and very dishonest. I would never use American Van lines slash safe Van lines Inc to move anything. They prey on the elderly and that to me is is the worst kind of company.

Things got damaged and stolen. Unreliable.

Considering the reviews of others who were trapped and forced to work through Amerisafe, I believe I'm one of the lucky ones.
BECAUSE I GOT OUT OF THE DEAL AND GOT MY REFUND.

The thing is, while the rep was talking about locking in the price now to keep it cheap, I asked clearly "How does the refund process work".
He talked about how there would be a $1,000 deposit. And when requesting for a refund you'll receive 96% of the deposit. ($960 due to a 4% charge).
So I signed.

What he didn't tell me is that AFTER 72 HRS OF SIGNING THE BILL OF LADING, YOUR REFUND CAN ONLY BE PROCESSED AS A CREDIT FOR FUTURE MOVES WITH AMERISAFE!!

He said a refund can be done anytime and the "locked in" move can be canceled or rescheduled if it wasn't within 72 hrs of the move date.

Not that you don't get a refund in cash if it isn't within 72 hrs of signing the document.
Even the refund process wasn't straight forward. I had to call & text the rep. Email the cancellation department 3 times. And call the customer service rep twice to get some confirmation that the refund was in process.

Don't use this company ever.
Just find other reviews of people who didn't notice and ended up being tied to this company for their move.

WARNING: Terrible Value, Hidden Fees, and "Lowball" Scams (Job # 5470123)
Do not use Amerisafe Moving. If you are looking for good value and reliable service quality, you will absolutely not find it here. I have since learned that moving brokers operating like this often change their names to outrun bad reviews, so beware of their exact tactics!
They intentionally lowball your initial estimate to get you hooked, even throwing in a fake "senior discount" to get you to sign. During the sales process, they refused to do an on-site or virtual walkthrough, and they deliberately didn't take down the exact dimensions of my boxes, crates, or furniture. This was a complete setup.
Here is exactly how their bait-and-switch works:
▪ **The Under $10k Hook: The initial sales rep deliberately lowballed the volume of the storage units just to keep the my quote under the original $10,000 (for that senior discount).
▪ **The $16k Reality Check: During their "Quality Assurance" review right before the move, my quote magically skyrocketed to $16,000 "because the storage unit wasn't calculated correctly".
▪ **The $20k+ Moving Day Trap: because Amerisafe completely ignored the actual dimensions of my items, their volume estimate was physically impossible. Had I kept the storage unit on the contract, they wouldn't have been able to fit everything, and the final cost would have easily exceeded $20,000 on moving day. (Ironically, the actual third-party movers who showed up were accurate in their walk-through volume - proving Amerisafe deliberately lied on the front end to trap me).
▪ The Rate Trick: To bring the cost back down prior to moving day, I removed the storage unit from my move. Because they lost that portion of the sale, they secretly raised my rate per cubic foot—leaving me stuck with a massive bill anyway.
▪ Endless Hidden Fees: Once booked, they hit you with undisclosed charges for packing materials, long-carry fees, and hidden insurance costs that wipe out any "discount."
The actual quality of their service does not justify this predatory pricing. Save your money, protect your belongings, and only hire an honest, local movers who actually does a visual walkthrough before giving you a binding estimate!

We unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with this service. From the beginning, we feel that we were given incomplete or misleading information while setting up our services, which ultimately influenced our decision to move forward with them.

We were initially given a specific delivery date. When our items had still not arrived a full week after that date, we reached out to the delivery/dispatch contact for an update. We were given very little information and were then told that there was a two-week delivery window. We were also told that there was suddenly a shortage of delivery trucks.

After the two weeks had passed, we reached out again and were then told that the delivery window was actually 21 days. When we asked for a more specific estimate of when we could expect our belongings, especially because we had upcoming travel plans, the response we received was unnecessarily rude and unhelpful.

When our delivery finally did arrive, it was at approximately 8 PM, despite being given a 12–4 PM delivery window. To make matters worse, we were also missing an entire box of our belongings and also multiple boxes were opened when delivered.

We understand that delays and unforeseen circumstances can happen, but the lack of clear communication, changing information, poor customer service, and the missing items made this an extremely frustrating experience. We would not use this service again and would encourage others to make sure they fully understand the delivery terms and timelines before committing.

IWhen we made our first call to this company, we were assured that this was the moving company, not a broker. We told the guy a rough idea of how much furniture and boxes we would need moved from Birmingham, AL, to New Braunfels, TX. He gave us a quote of around $14000, which we thought was rather high. He put us on hold and came back and offered the move of just over 11,000. We happily agreed to that. On-line forms were signed to hire this company. We counted the number of boxes and the amount was higher, and we knew the cost would be higher than 11 grand and reported this to a fellow named Stephen in QA with Amerisafe. He then sent us a contract with all the items and boxes listed, and the total was over 25000. We were pissed, especially when Stephen told us Anerisafe was a broker, not the actual moving company. However, due to the shortage of time for the move, we had to ok that. We needed to be out of our house on 7/23/26, so we requested the moving date be 7/21/26. After some back and forth with them, they said they could send one truck the afternoon of the 21st and the 2nd on the 22nd. We waited all day the 21st but by late afternoon, we had to call to see if one was coming. We were told that truck had some mechanical issues so they would be sending 2 trucks on the 22nd, but were assured the trucks would arrive at 7 AM sharp. They did not arrive until around 9:30 that morning. The movers arrived in U-Haul trucks. This is when we found out the actual name of the movers, which was All Seasons Logistics, located in Aurora, Co. After they arrived, the lead person had to do a personal walk-through of the house to assess the number of items, which took over an hour. He then told us the amount we would have to pay would be right at $30000. By then, they had us by the balls. He asked us when we wanted the furniture deluvered to our new home and we requested 7/25/26. He then told us it would be 2 to 9 days before our furniture would arrive at the new destination. We are now in our new home having to sleep on air mattresses and folding chairs to sit on. I would rather go swimming in a pirhanna-infested pool than ever use these people again.
Today, 7/29/26, we found out that our furniture and other items are still in Birmingham, Alabama, and won't be picked up until Friday, 8/01/26. Since federal guidelines state moving vans cannot exceed 500 miles a day, we are probably looking at Monday, 8/03, or Tuesday, 8/04, before we get our belongings here in Texas.

Terrible...do not use them. They lied and provided a written guaranteed delivery date service as an inducement to secure my business. The delivery was 3 weeks late....they then denied ever offering the guarantee. Their brokered carrier lost 10% of the shipment, and then denied there was a shortage...Amerisafe refused to get involved. Fraudulent company.

They lied about everything. Don't trust them. They are a broker and they sub everything out to companies that are not reputable. The crew they sent to my house broke everything and also stole my jewelry. I have contacted them directly about my experience and they simply don't care.

I want to share my experience with Amerisafe so nobody else ends up going through what I did. The sales representative was extremely friendly and reassuring during the quote process — the kind of person who tells you everything you want to hear just to secure a deposit. I trusted him, and that was my mistake.
Twenty‑four hours before the truck was supposed to arrive, they suddenly tried to charge me an extra $1,500. Said that I was over my space allowed, I refused, because I knew exactly how much space my move required. I just moved in a 500 square foot Uhaul truck, and everything fit. But this time half the stuff fit.
They left half of my belongings behind in the apartment. They went through everything and only took what looked easiest to load. Then they held my items for 45 days before delivering them. Looking back, the red flags were there from the start.

When I asked for an on‑the‑spot quote for my desk, because they wouldn't take unless I paid extra, they calculated the cubic footage based on the furniture fully assembled, then would break it down to half the size and charge me for the whole space, It was misleading from the beginning, and I didn’t realize it until it was too late.
Now I’m stuck with my belongings split between two different states, and I wouldn’t wish this situation on anyone. I truly hope nobody else ends up dealing with a company that operates like this. They don’t even have a real Google Maps location — clearly to avoid negative reviews.

If you’re planning a move, the best thing you can do is pack everything yourself and hire help through the U‑Haul app. You can pay for exactly the amount of time you need, and you stay in control of your own belongings. After what I went through, I can say with confidence: doing it yourself is the safest option.

DO NOT use this company. The representative we spoke with, Brian James, was extremely pushy during the quoting process and repeatedly pressured us to “lock in” the lowest possible rate before prices supposedly increased. When I explained that I wanted time to do research before making a deposit, he reassured me multiple times that the deposit would be 100% refundable and that Amerisafe would meet or beat any competitor pricing.

A few days later, after researching the company and seeing the overwhelming number of negative customer experiences, I decided to cancel. That’s when I was suddenly informed that the deposit was only fully refundable within 72 hours — something that was never clearly explained upfront. The supervisor I spoke with refused to make any exception, stating that “everyone wants a one-time exception.”

The most frustrating part is that this deposit was for THOUSANDS of dollars, and our move wasn’t even scheduled for another 45 days. Keeping that much money so far in advance, while refusing to work with customers who were misled during the sales process, is incredibly concerning. If a company is that desperate for money, it’s not a company I would ever recommend doing business with.

No matter what they quote you expect to pay double. Quoted $8,300 originally and they show up and In my opinion extorted an additional $10,000. This is a round estimates and include a requested tip on top of the cost so they wouldnt charge extra for additional packing beyond what they as already charged. I feel they purposely under quote the job to get a signature and deposit. Then they show up and walk around the house and tell you this is going to cost more. What do you do when you have flights booked? Have to turn over the property after closing? They have you bent over. My mother is 80 years old and they took her for over $17,000. Took 22ft of a 26ft box truck and not even stacked to the ceiling. Make you pay cash on pickup and delivery. You don't actually get any of the packing you pay for. They charge you for certain amount of boxes, packing and blankets, but show up with nothing matching what they charged you for. They keep all the blankets you paid for after delivery. Whole thing was sketchy. Amerisafe also is just a broker. They have nothing to do with the actual pickup and delivery. Don't really have any complaints about the actual packing and delivery guys other than the guy that adds all the extra cost when he shows up. Just use a company that will come in person and give a binding quote. Don't get taken advantage of by these moving scammers out there. Do your research and read reviews everywhere. Don't let your elderly parent get taken advantage of. I failed, don't you.

TERRIBLE LYING COMPANY, it was the worst experience of my life. Unwrapped bedding, left furniture without ANY COVERING PILED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. I COULDN'T Believe how awful this company is to job out to people who have no idea what they are doing.

When a salesperson says this price is only good for two hours, one should walk away. I did not. I paid a deposit for a move that had wildly different quotes. Amerisafe was at the lower end. When I decided i didn't want to hire them- I was within the 72 hour window to cancel. Which i did. When I called to confirm the cancellation- which i was told to do via email. -- I got yelled at, challenged and treated about as rudely as i have ever been treated. When I asked to speak to his supervisor i was told he was the supervisor. I told him to cancel my contract and refund the money now, or i would go through the credit card company. He demanded to know why I was canceling - I told him it was not his business. Best to walk away from this company

Do not even think about using Amerisafe. They are the worst and should be shut down. They increased the estimate 3x from 19K to 36K for our move from Washington to California. They are extremely unprofessional. They send folks who clearly have no moving experience. It could not have been a worse experience. Run as fas as you can.

DO NOT EVER use AmeriSafe Moving and Storage, or Ocean Moving and Storage.
My salesman at the broker, AmeriSafe, Mark Edwards, was very pleasant and persuasive. He convinced me that AmeriSafe would be the best option for my move from Florida to Colorado, but the experience turned out to be a nightmare.
I will admit that I should have insisted on a signed estimate for delivery, and I did not. But Mark knew how important a fairly accurate delivery date was because I never missed a chance to remind him that I had special needs... a medical condition required me to have all plastic boxes and furniture cleaned before they were taken into the house on arrival. A team of people had to be ready to do that, not only for my needs, but to help keep the delivery team on time. He led me to believe it could possibly arrive on my preferred date (Aug. 2), or the day after. But when his colleague called 3 days before pick-up, she almost laughed when I told her that. She said there was No WAY it would be there that soon. I let Mark know she’d said that, and he told me he’d call them and get back to me. He never did.
Two days AFTER the pick-up by Ocean movers, I got an email from Ocean who said they were sending me a previously agreed on schedule (which I had NEVER seen before), saying it was possible that my things could arrive as much as 16 business days from the first available date for drop-off that I had given them (Aug. 2). They gave me a portal where I could check on the status, which I used, but never received a reply from. On Aug. 5 I got a phone call saying they would probably be loading the truck at the warehouse back in Florida (where my things were) within 24 hours. But in 24 hours I got a call saying the truck was actually in Colorado and would be arriving the next day. So, I had 24 hours to try to find the team of people to do the cleaning of the boxes. Fortunately I was able to do that, but the damages were rampant: A broken TV, glass covering a large painting broken into bits, an 18-inch cement Buddha statue in 3 PIECES, (how does THAT happen?), a bent metal leg on a bar stool, and a bent metal base of a lamp. I’m also missing an item or two.
So, I would never use a broker again. Not sure, but I probably overpaid for doing that. Mark was deceitful, not overtly but by omission. Ocean’s right hand doesn’t know what its left hand is doing. And great care was DEFINITELY not taken.
If you insist on using them BUY INSURANCE. I didn’t. To add insult to injury, I had to pay a notary $15, which was about 40% of the reimbursement I finally received for all the damaged items.
