I had my balloon fitted a few weeks ago…

I had my balloon fitted a few weeks ago and am seeing next to no results. My hunger has not been curbed. After a few days of terrible sickness I feel the same as I did before and am now £4k down. I got lots of support before the procedure, and since having it done have had 1 phone call. It’s a scam.

2 years on l recall this as a horrible experience. Vomiting blood and hospitalised. Weight loss injections are by far the best route to pursue.

I almost died! Don’t do it!!

After receiving an Allurion gastric balloon at a private clinic in Vancouver on June 5, 2025, I began experiencing severe and persistent vomiting the very same day. The symptoms worsened over time, ultimately leading to profound dehydration and dangerously low potassium levels (hypokalemia).

Despite ongoing illness, I attempted to manage at home with medications prescribed by the clinic. However, my condition continued to deteriorate. On July 4, I was admitted to the hospital with a critically low potassium level of 2.5 mmol/L. I received intravenous fluids and potassium and was discharged later that day with a slight improvement to 2.9 mmol/L. Unfortunately, my symptoms persisted. On July 9, I was informed that my potassium had dropped further to a life-threatening level of 2.2 mmol/L. I was advised to go to the emergency department immediately, where I was re-admitted and remained hospitalized for a full week. I received continuous IV fluids, electrolyte replacement, and monitoring to prevent serious complications.

Throughout that month, I remained in contact with the clinic that had placed the balloon. They continued to prescribe various medications in an effort to control the nausea and vomiting, but none were effective. I later learned the balloon had caused a gastric outlet obstruction, physically blocking food from entering my stomach. As a result, food and liquids remained trapped in my esophagus and were repeatedly vomited up. I lost 16.5 pounds in less than a month and that was due to starvation and dehydration. Once I was released from the hospital and had fluids back in my body, I was back up by 10 pounds.

On July 13, 2025, the Allurion balloon was removed by a general surgeon using a gastroscopy (a scope passed through the mouth into the stomach). Although imaging like x-rays and CT scans had failed to clearly show the obstruction, the blockage was confirmed during the procedure. Almost immediately after removal, I experienced relief—I was finally able to eat and drink without vomiting, and my hydration and potassium levels began to stabilize.

I also want to highlight that the placement experience at the clinic was unprofessional and concerning. The procedure was carried out by what appeared to be a husband-and-wife team. During the placement, the husband repeatedly raised his voice at the wife while I sat in a chair. They ran out of water mid-procedure and substituted carbonated water. After placement, the wife briefly connected my scale to the app and sent me out with no explanation of the program, no aftercare instructions, and no guidance on what to expect. The “pop-up” clinic setting felt chaotic, disorganized, and far below the standard of professional medical care.

Since the removal, I’ve felt significantly better. I’ve been able to eat and drink normally, and my health has been steadily improving. I’ve also contacted the hospital where I was treated to obtain all related medical records, including any available documentation and images of the gastric obstruction, to support my case and ensure this adverse event is properly reported.

This was a horrible experience that…

This was a horrible experience that ended me up in emergency and needed immediate removal.
I was at the 1 month mark and from then on all it seemed i did was throw up. Allurion through drugs and suggested back to liquid diet but nothing helped. The last week nothing!! was staying down or going through. I was so weak. At the hospital they pumped my stomach for a really long time. Images showed total blockage of the stomach passing on food and fluids. I was put priority surgery and the balloon was extracted. My stomach had been stretched using the balloon and my throat was damaged from all the throwing up.
Allurion offered to give me a free one.. obviously I declined.
I am Not alone . Am in conversation with people right now who are in emergency to have their balloon removed. There are a lot of us!!

Absolute geld dieven

Absolute geld dieven! Ga niet met ze in zee.
Gestart met een maagballon á €4500! dat geen effect heeft gehad. Hier hebben ze geen oren naar, zolang je maar betaald! Toen een mounjaro ‘traject’ gestart. Je krijgt eerst een dosis om het te proberen. Als het positieve effecten heeft en het werkt goed mag je hiermee doorgaan. Máár eerst betalen!! Dus naast het medicijn mag je nog eens €750 aan trajectkosten betalen?! Het slaat werkelijk nergens op. Zeer onprettig en onprofessioneel te woord gestaan. Ze hebben lak aan jou als persoon maar denken alleen aan hun eigen portemonnee. Heel erg jammer voor zo’n kliniek waarvan je denkt dat het vakkundige en eerlijke mensen zijn. Helaas is niets minder waar! Ik raad het iedereen af bij de Allurion kliniek aan te melden!

Sono andata questa mattina ad informarmi. 02.07.25. Il minimo del trattamento per avere il palloncino gastrico allurion con assistenza obbligatoria è di ben 7.000€ in su! Sappiatelo! (Intorno ai 3.500€ un piffero!) E minimo 216€ al mese con la rateizzazione meno no! Sappiatelo prima che andate a perdere tempo per fare una consulenza come ho fatto io!!

Zeer slechte ervaring met maagballon – levensgevaarlijk!

Mijn ervaring met de Allurion maagballon is ronduit slecht geweest. Er werd mij verteld dat de ballon vanzelf zou verteren en via de ontlasting het lichaam zou verlaten. Bij mij is de ballon er echter uitgekomen door extreem heftig overgeven. Ik dacht echt dat ik doodging – het was traumatisch.

Ik heb meerdere keren contact gehad met dr. Edo van Allurion. Zijn houding was allesbehalve professioneel. Hij zei dat de ballon opgestuurd zou worden naar Amerika voor onderzoek, maar vier jaar later heb ik – ondanks herhaaldelijk vragen – nog steeds niets vernomen. Het lijkt alsof ze het gewoon negeren.

Ondertussen zijn alle verloren kilo’s weer terug, dus het heeft op de lange termijn ook niks geholpen. Het voelt als geldklopperij, zonder echte zorg voor de gezondheid van mensen. Ik heb alle WhatsApp-gesprekken als bewijs bewaard.

Mijn advies: Doe het niet! Het is gevaarlijk voor je lichaam. Je kunt letterlijk stikken, zoals ik bijna deed. Bescherm jezelf – kies voor iets veiligers en duurzaams.

Do not have one of these!

Please, please do not have an Allurion balloon. I wish I never had. Awful procedure, basic aftercare and the only thing I lost was my savings.
Allurion do not care if it does not work, they just take your money and don’t give a damn. Just came up with ridiculous excuses as to why I could not have any money back.

My Honest Review of the Allurion Balloon
I had a very disappointing experience with the Allurion Balloon. For me, this solution had zero impact on my weight loss goals. Despite following the guidelines, the balloon was expelled from my stomach within just 2 months, far short of the expected duration. I consider it a complete waste of money and time. I strongly urge others to do thorough research and consult multiple professionals before opting for this procedure.

Posso solo ringraziare tutto il team CPN medical della clinica GapClinic, Rigenera, Manzoni, CoMedical Lentate, Torino, CeDiMe Villaricca, Fernicola Marano.
Mi hanno seguita da inizio dicembre e mi stanno tutt'ora seguendo, motivandomi nei momenti difficili.
Ho inserito il palloncino ALLURION nel mese di dicembre, ad oggi ho perso 15,5 kg. Ho ancora un po di strada da fare, ma grazie al loro supporto sono sicura di raggiungere il mio obiettivo 💪.

Waste of money

Fitting etc was fine. Dietitian said pretty much the same thing each time I spoke to them, pushing protien shakes and drink rather than real dietary advice. I am now having bariatric surgery on the nhs and my first 30 minute consultation with the dieting was far more helpful than 4 hours or so via Alurion. Alurion gave no psychological support either. I did loose about 2 stone but have been left with reflux, which I never had before. I have also gained back my initial loss plus an extra stone. I talked to the nhs team doing my surgery and they said statically long term failure is common. Save your money!

L esperienza più deludente della mia vita😞…

Ho posizionato il palloncino gastrico ad aprile 2024 sono partita da 75 kg sono stata malissimo con dolori forti allo stomaco e aveva sempre nausea m sentivo debole per quel poco che mangiavo vomitavo anke di notte mi svegliavo di soprassalto per andare a vomitare ho perso solo sette chili inoltre mi è durato solo 3 mesi invece di 4 e ad agosto in vacanza soffrivo ancora di nausea quando il mare era agitato mai sofferto prima di mal di mare adesso ho ripreso tutti i kili ed ho speso la bellezza di 3800€ solo per soffrire.

Ciao, mi chiamo Alessandro. A novembre sono andato dal dietologo di mia madre (perché lei stava seguendo il percorso Allurion con l’aiuto del dottor Langella). Sono partito da 87,7 kg e da allora ne ho persi 11,5. Sono molto soddisfatto dei miei risultati e consiglio questo percorso a molte persone.

Il programma Allurion è di per sé vincente perché il palloncino che si voglia o meno fa il suo lavoro , ciò che è straordinario è il team che lo accompagna, Ciro Claudia e Laura non mi hanno mai abbandonata , quando tutto era facile e soprattutto quando e’ stato difficile . Very poor aftercare

Not sure where to start,
I had an initial consultation where I decided on the spot to have the balloon fitted. Feeling really positive about the whole thing.
On the day of the fitting the doctor was over an hour and half late, when I asked what was happening the receptionist didn’t know, I was on the verge of walking out, when he eventually arrived with no explanation and no apology.
The balloon was fitted which isn’t a nice experience but that was not the problem. The aftercare is virtually non existence. I had emails and messages ignored. It was only after weeks of messages and emails that someone contacted me. Then yet again the same thing happened and I am getting emails ignored. Completely fed up with the whole situation now have had to find a dietitian myself. The balloon itself was a complete success and I lost over 3 stone, just be prepared to chase for any aftercare

Don't do it

I went through eight days of excruciating pain and lost 7 kg in the first week. However, after that, I began to regain weight quite quickly. The practitioners I consulted were only average at best, and I received just two or three follow-up calls from the dietitian—that was it. Overall, the experience was expensive and did not meet my expectations. I am really disappointed, especially after paying +7k and waiting for two months. In the end, I ended up weighing even more than before.

I don’t believe the balloon lasted more than two weeks in my stomach. I would recommend that others avoid this procedure. I was told I wouldn’t be able to eat the same portions, but that turned out to be untrue; after the third week, I was eating the same amount as I did before.

I feel sad, upset, and angry—not only because I couldn't see any results, but also due to all the money I spent on this endeavor.
