This company should not be operating

This company should not be operating. I would not even it give it a star if I didn't have to. It has two names, Enterprise and Alamo.
It is an absolute shonk company. We pre book and rented a car late on a Sunday evening at Zurich airport. We were not given a copy of damage. When we located the car, it was clear, even under poor light late at night in airport carpark that the car has been in at least one extensive collision and possibly more, given the number of dents, significant scratches and a 10cm long scratch with indent to the metal. Back door had big dent and crunched upon opening or closing. Undercarriage squeaked when brakes applied (as we found out later). We told staff and they said, its ok, its ok. We took photos of the damage. When we returned the car 2 weeks later, we refused to sign a return until the staff member agreed there was no additional damage the car. Six weeks later, the company advised us that had found there were scratches on front passenger side mirror. How any scratches could have been found given the amount of damage on this car is beyond belief. I am vigorously fighting these fraudulent charges. I can only suggest, nobody ever rent through this disreputable company. We rented a car for our final two weeks with Budget. The experience couldnt be more different, transparent, easy to deal with, near new car and cost 20% less than the Alamo/Enterprise sharks.

VORSICHT! 1300€ Kaution wurden nicht zurückerstattet!

Ich habe über eine Vermittlungsagentur einen Mietwagen bei Alamo/Enterprise Tallinn in der Zeit 19.06.-24.06. gemietet und es wurde eine Kaution von 1.300,00 Euro über meine Debit Mastercard geblockt (gg. Extragebühr für die Debit Karte). Bis heute (06.07.2024) wurde die Kaution nicht zurückgezahlt.
Es gab am 20.06. ein Problem mit dem linken vorderen Reifen, in den sich ein Nagel/Schraube gebohrt hatte. Bin sofort zum Alamo/Enterprise-Büro am Flughafen Tallinn gefahren und ich sollte selbst zu einer Werkstatt fahren, die den Schaden sofort behoben hat. Der Alamo/Enterprise-Mitarbeiter teilte mir mit, dass die Kosten von meiner Kaution abgezogen werden. Bis heute, 06.07.24 habe ich weder eine Rechnung der Reparatur erhalten, noch wurde mir die Kaution zurückerstattet.
Mehrfache Anfragen per Mail blieben unbeantwortet. Eine Antwort von der Vermittlungsagentur steht noch aus. Ich befürchte, dass Alamo mittlerweile betrügerisch unterwegs ist und meine Kaution einbehält. Ich werde alles versuchen, meine Kaution minus der Schadenzahlung (max. 200,00 EUR) einzufordern. Es ist übel, dass eine solche international agierende Autovermietung dieses wunderbare Land mit ihren scheinbar betrügerischen Maschen schlecht macht und es scheint so, dass ich abgezockt wurde. Ich hoffe nicht, dass ich auf den eigentlich nur geblockten und dann von Alamo einbehaltenen 1.300,00 EUR sitzen bleibe. Ich werde in der kommenden Woche Strafanzeige gegen Alamo/Enterprise stellen!

Beware mis-selling fuel-policy when collecting car

Beware mis-selling when collecting vehicles from the Geneva branch of Alamo. The desk agent was quite insistent that I use the pre-paid full-tank option, explaining that as I was returning the car early on a Sunday it was more convenient as most petrol stations are closed at that hour (this turned out to be untrue). I explained it was unlikely I would use a full tank, but he reassured me to take the option by explaining unused fuel was refunded. On receipt of final invoice after returning the car, there was no refund for the unused petrol (in excess of half a tank). I raised this with customer services and was told that they do not refund unused fuel and this should have been explained to me when I collected the vehicle. I stated that I was not presented with any clear written guidance about the fuel policy at the time of collection, that the guidance was all verbal from their agent - who stated they did refund unused fuel - he clearly had not been trained properly, or was intentionally mis-selling. I explained I had a witness with me who heard this conversation. The customer service agent still refused to accept I had been mis-sold, or the desk agent had not been trained properly.

In a subsequent email Customer Services made it clear that they do not refund unused pre-paid fuel so that they could maximise profits on hires.

I offered to meet Alamo half way in order to close the matter in a way that would be acceptable to us both, by accepting a 50% refund for the unused fuel - allowing Alamo to profit from the mis-selling, and for me to get at least a part refund. This suggestion was refused.

Very disappointed and won't be using Alamo again - this is clearly theft under a different name.

false damage claim

Alamo claimed we had damaged the wheel when we hadn't and haven't responded to my emails. They sent a blurry photo in which the damage wasn't visible. This seems to be a common practice for them.

Never ALAMO from Zurich Airport

I rented a Car in Zurich Airport / with ALAMO airport for 6 days
Car was fine but, a month after return I got charged for fuel.
I was charged as well for AIRPORT TAX FEE

after charged again ..for a fine..and they charged directly my credit card without any notice and without any copy of the fine.

Be very careful when you handled the credit card to this company !

1. Dishonest fuel charge
2. Dishonest traffic violation FEE without any confirmation copy of the fine
3. Dishonest AIRPORT FEE (which was not MENTIONED ANYWHERE)
4. communication with Enterprise | Alamo is NOT EXISTENT

NOT RECOMMEND.... Avoid these....

Dishonest fuel charges

Hired a car from Alamo Geneva Swiss side. Car was fine but a month after return I got charged for fuel. I had brimmed the tank less than 5km from the airport so it would not have been possible to put any fuel in the car but still, a whole month after return, they have raised a fuel charge. I'll get the money back as I have the proof but you can bet it will take months. Avoid these crooks.

Apalling service and aftercare.

Apalling service and aftercare.
1. Having checked in online as suggested, we had to queue for an hour to see the one attendant that was present when we arrived at the franchise desk
2. Only an automatic vehicle was available
3. The vehicle collection inspection process was not explained at all, probably due to the very large queue
4. The courtesy bus to vehicle collection was unable to complete its route so we were forced to walk, close to midnight, in January, in Geneva!
5. The vehicle was not in the bay number given and only located with using the remote central locking
6. The vehicle was parked so poorly it was not possible to access it from the drivers side
7. Upon returning the vehicle no parking available prompting the employee to tell us to leave the vehicle double parked and he would move it for us and check it in
8 Then received a very very vague photo description following check in of damage that is not clear and subsequently received a claim for damages for a lost parcel shelf, that wasnt in the car to start with
Am currently writing my fourth email to them with no response at all from them so far.
Would never recommend Alamo

I rented a car from Alamo at Zurich…

I rented a car from Alamo at Zurich airport for 4 days, in the parking lot I took many pictures of all sides of the car, both when I picked up the car and when I delivered it, but still they charged me 575 CHF because there was damage to one of the tires. And since I live in Norway, I had to send the pictures I took both before and after of the car by e-mail, which showed that it was not me who damaged the tire, and wrote that I delivered the car in good condition, and then tried to call 50 times and I was hoping they would respond, but they don't respond to email or phone!! this happened on the 8th of August and until today I have not heard from them, so weird if you ask me!! and strangerly enough, an international airport allows such companies to operate.

If zero stars was an option.....

If zero stars was an option then Alamo (Enterprise group) would surely earn it. If you are unlucky enough to encounter the customer service assistant Patricia Ferradas, then hold on to your patience as it will run out very quickly... They bill you for things they couldn't provide, then fail to properly refund you. When you ask to help breakdown the payments you have made, in order to demonstrate you are right, she stops replying. It took more than 4 weeks to get any reply, then a sudden flurry when threatened with contacting the credit card company, then vanished again. Sadly not for training. Truly horrific. All car hire companies can be tricky, that's the issue with making all your money on extras, add ons and fines, versus the actual hire, but Alamo (Enterprise) have honed their skills in taking money not owed and charging excessively into a real skill. Some might call it theft. Europcar and Avis, whilst not perfect do at least demonstrate some morals and stealing money is not part of their MO. It should be said that the Geneva Airport (Swiss Side) is the issue, French side have always been ok. There are no managers or senior staff so you only get to deal with undertrained junior people who don't really know what they are doing. My favourite line by a member of staff, 'you have choice but to take out every single insurance. I know you will be mad, but now you can smash the car up and just drop it off and you won't have to pay anything'.

Awful experience at Geneva Airport…

Awful experience at Geneva Airport Swiss side. My rental contract clearly stated that Breakdown Insurance was included. The agent at Geneva Airport insisted it was not included and offered it at an additional cost. I telephoned Car Trawler through whom I had booked the car to verify. They said it was included and they spoke to the agent to confirm this. The agent continued to insist it was not included. Car Trawler then suggested I pay for it at the desk and they would sort it out later. I asked them to confirm this by email (they didn't) but by then an hour had gone by and my phone bill was adding up by the minute. In frustration at this 'impasse', I paid for it and then later discovered that it was NOT breakdown insurance, which was included all along as I had insisted, but a supplementary 'Roadside Assistance Insurance' which was nothing to do with breakdown but basically covered the cost for towing the car after an accident (not breakdown!). Car Trawler have since said they will not refund me. I have been mis-sold an additional product under false pretences and ripped off by a Alamo / Enterprise Holdings agent to the tune of 80CHF. Do not use this car rental!

After persisting in my claim for a refund, Easyjet Car Rental, through whom I booked the car, have now agreed to refund me.

I rented a car for 3 days in Genova…

I rented a car for 3 days in Genova Airport. There was a very brief inspection of the car in a dark carpark with no chance to see very small damages. I didn't have any accidents and I left the car in Basel Airport without an inspection. Alamo sent me a bill for 1615 CHF afterwards for old damages, which was very hard to see. After complaining a lot, they lowered the charge to 441 CHF.
Luckily, I had full coverage insurance with another Auto Europe, but it was a lot of hassel.
Keep away from Alamo, they are cheats.

Awful experience

Awful experience! With a group of rented a car last weekend, when the car was delivered the personnin charge check the car as we did. When we returned the car they found a scratch on the lower part of the bumper, a place that was not check at the beginning, it was a minimal scratch that we are 100% sure that we did not do, now they are charging us almost CHF800 for that minimal issue. It is also strange that one of the first places this person check was under the bumper and they claim that they always do it but that was not done by the person who delivered the car. It is a charged way out of proportion for a tiny scratch.
