AIB a bank for the Middle Age
AIB a bank for the Middle Age. I am a customer and I rely mostly on my Bank of Ireland account. With AIB I need a card reader to make a bank transfer. AIB lives in the Middle Ages, I cannot access the app on my phone if the time on my phone is a few minutes early or late. ONLY TROUBLE with AIB. Quarterly fees more expensive that BOI.

AIB Travel insurance seems to have a reason not to pay out. Under written by Chubb.
On September 15th we arrived at Terminal 2 for our Aer Lingus flight. The Terminal itself however was shutdown due to a power failure. It took us 90 minutes just to get into the Terminal, which was heavily congested with passengers and baggage handling which didn't work.
The up-shot of this disaster is, that we missed our flight.
Aer Lingus had no other options for us and as we were trying to get to Edinburgh as my mother had been admitted to hospital, it was rather urgent.
We decided to pay the extra and booked a Ryanair flight which had 2 seats available in 3 hours time.
I decided to claim recompense from Aer Lingus. They refused, so I resorted to my Travel Insurance.
Surely the would pay out for a missed flight, which was no fault of mine.
No, because a faulty Terminal was not listed under any policy section. EU 261 regulation does not apply as the flight was not delayed. Just me and my wife.
Avoid AIB if you want to open a business account
Tried to open a business account, took 2 hours to complete their 28 page very complicated application form online. Waited 1 week, then it got rejected due to an address typo and the business area not matching the Companies Office exactly. Crazy stuff, no email or call asking me to correct the errors, just Voided. Only solution is to start the online process again from the start (and probably make the odd error for it to be rejected again) or have them post out a 28 page paper form for you to complete again from scratch (and probably make mistakes as its so complicated) and post back and forward between other required signatories and AIB. Do not even attempt to open a business bank account with AIB if you value your mental health. When you call their staff they are also condescending and unhelpful. Avoid this bank, it's Mickey Mouse.
Super customer service AIB
Contacted AIB online banking Dec 15th to get my Internet banking registered to new device, after my original phone was taken. James (Kelly?) provided an excellent customer service experience - friendly, reassuring, knowledgeable and capable - I finished my call with him totally aware that I was in safe hands. Really top class customer service - thank you James!

Horrible bank
Horrible bank. Expensive, the app is always malfunctioning, going against progress and convenience. I've been trying to pay something for almost an hour, and the app doesn't work. They charge fees for everything every three months, extremely expensive. Meanwhile, other modern and digital banks offer 100% better service with no charges. This disgrace of AIB shouldn't even exist. We are held hostage by this rubbish because of the country's dependence on this outdated structure. Fortunately, its days are numbered. If I could, I'd give 0 stars.

What is happening with the app?
The AIB app has become almost unusable for Android phones. I've just tried to enrol for the biometric selfie-check and obviously it doesn't load.I used to do everything with the app for years. Now it's just so frustrating that I barely open it to check my balance...
Send help to AIB staff
Can we send someone to check on the staff at AIB? Every person I have dealt with has been an absolute miserable git. Every one seems like they have been chained to their desks for their entire lives. One person was absolutely no help at all, the other one must of just watched the boy in the striped pyjamas before I chatted with her and the other seemed like he was doing a mean version impression of uncle Colm from Derry Girls. Honestly, I now believe in hell after chatting with these folks because truly they must be living it right now. Maybe start up some basic personality or “how not to be a complete d**k on the phone” training because it’s not so hard to be nice to someone when they’re being fairly pleasant and looking for help opening a bank account. Bad form AIB.

Intentionally told to hang up and call back despite them closing at 5
They are currently refusing to let me access my bank and withholding my own money from me maliciously. Was on call with two operators who refused to help flat out as to why my banking app wasn't working and the first one basically said I need a card reader at home? and then the second one Amy after ten minutes of getting me to uninstall my app with someone parroting behind her then told me at 5.01 pm to hang up turn my phone off and on and try again and call back if it didn't work. I wasn't aware that they close at five but i'm sure Amy did as I was more or less fobbed off till tomorrow which I'm sure will go even better considering my experience within the last half an hour. I'm so excited
Can't be trusted with your money
Can't be trusted with your money. I reported a fraudulent transaction on my account and they did nothing to resolve the issue. Customer services staff give wrong information.

4 days to transfer funds - complete joke. The same transfer with N26 takes 30 seconds. WTF is wrong with this cr@ppy bank that they think it's acceptable for such poor service?

Aib has block my account so many times over their usual paranoia. I will be moving to BOI for better experience. Both their app and internet system is way outdated to other countries.

I saved 1000 a month and for 12 months I got 16 euro for all my hard work. put your money in an other bank I am done with these I will put my savings with revolute at least they will give me interest on my money each day.it was the Irish tax payer who bail out the banks when they went bankrupt now they make billions and can't even respect there own customers.I hope loads of people read this and leave your crap bank system .Fu-uk you Aib

In swords branch today with my 90 year old mother, no chairs for customers and only 1 desk open, after 35 minutes I asked for the manager Ray Malloy. He would not come out to deal with the queue of approximately 25 people who were all standing in line behind me. An absolute disgrace. He left his staff to deal with the ‘valued customers, some of whom had used up their lunch break to stand in this queue! The local shop gives better customer service and we don’t pay maintenance fees to them every month.
