The whole ordering process was awful, delayed by weeks and hardly any comms. When we chased them, they said it was due to staff illness but continued to take orders and offer a 15% discount which we found odd.
When it did finally arrive, the wax started to peel off, so we contacted Acumen who sent all the waxing kit to try and sort out the problem first. So there we are, buffing and re-waxing the table we paid over a £1000 for, only for it to not work.
On contacting them about it, we received the most horrendous customer service from the person declaring himself the owner. Considering we had spent over £1000 on a table and bench, there was absolutely no empathy. He was rude and extremely unexperienced in dealing with paying customers. It was quite frankly shocking.
Finally got them to agree to an exchange. More waiting.
Then we got our table - amazing we thought. But within weeks, it started peeling again but due to the horrendous customer service we got, we didn't have it in us to argue again so we now have a peeling table and whilst we paid extra for the hard wax, it marks so easily, even just putting a dinner plate on it leaves a mark.
So no, I would not recommend this company and happy to upload photos of the emails that we were sent which were just awful and upsetting.
We ordered this last year but wanted to have the table a while in order to give it a proper review. I shall await for a reply from Acumen declaring I'm telling lies but I have no reason to.

Think carefully before placing a pre-order

I would strongly advise others to think carefully before placing a pre-order with this company.

I ordered stools in early February, with delivery advised from 3rd March. Since then, the delivery date has been pushed back twice, now expected towards the end of March. This means my payment has been taken and held for several weeks without any product being supplied.

While delays can happen, what is particularly disappointing is the complete lack of accountability. Despite the repeated delays, no goodwill gesture has been offered, even when this was raised directly. The response has simply been to either continue waiting or cancel for a refund.

Communication has been polite, but that does not make up for the fact that customers are expected to accept ongoing delays after paying in full, with no recognition of the inconvenience caused.

I have chosen to continue with the order as I like the product, but based on this experience, I would be very cautious about ordering anything that is not in stock.

Everything we have purchased has been high quality. Shelves, shelving units and coffee table.
We are very happy with our products and will use Acumen again we’re sure.

Absolutely awful quality. I am a DIYer and it looks like someone who has never used a router before worked on this. You would think if you were that bad or that rushed, as a business, you would create a jig.

Every recess for fixings is not level with the end of the boards, or to each other. They are cut to varying depths within the same recess (did you not even use a depth guage or stop?) and between them.

Honestly soonpoor in quality.

The truly damning thing though is that after accepting the issues, I found that the employee who agreed was no longer working there and Accumen were claiming they saw no issues with the piece.

i.e. every issue I mentioned above passes their QC. That should tell you everything you need to know about this company and the 'quality' of their work.

Never ended up getting the table due to us cancelling, however don’t cross the owner very aggressive when wanted to cancel with in our cancellation period due to external factors

My husband discovered Acumen Furniture while researching dining room tables. We recently moved into an Edwardian home and have been looking for pieces that suit both our personal taste and the character of the house.
We wanted a solid table crafted from a single piece of wood, large enough to comfortably host up to eight people, and striking enough to serve as a focal point in the dining room—the heart of our home for entertaining.
The Acumen Collection offered an impressive range of options, with the ability to tailor every detail: dimensions, timber thickness, finish, edge profile, and leg style. It was refreshing to find a company that could customise the table to the exact dimensions we needed.
We ultimately chose the Grasmoor Rustic dining table in Antique Oak with rustic weathered timber, a rounded rustic edge, and a wax polish finish. For the base, we selected the V Frame Leg in a black powder coat. To accommodate up to eight guests, we opted for dimensions of 195 cm in length, 110 cm in width, and a substantial 50 mm timber thickness.
The finished table is beautifully crafted—solid, elegant, and full of character, with the natural imperfections you’d expect from authentic wood. These subtle variations enhance its charm and uniqueness.
Delivery arrived within the expected timeframe, and we were kept up to date on its arrival by the Acumen Customer Service team.
Assembly was straightforward, thanks to clear instructions and helpful guidance on positioning the legs before securing them.
The table complements our home perfectly, and given its quality, we expect it to do so for many years to come.

Delivered as stated on the correct day and time, brought the items into the house

The website listed the items in stock, delivery in 7 days. 8 months, a dozen chasing emails, texts and other attempts for answers, the items arrived. They were disappointingly different. Powder coated thin metal instead of raw steel, screws to support wood where simple tension was previously used. I was offered as a gesture of goodwill a set of metal floating shelves, which never arrived. The website, continuing to advertise the tables as in-stock for the duration of the 8 months. I will never buy from Acumen again.

My wooden stool is just lovely. It just looks so lovely and well made and will mature over time.

We ordered a table and bench in October for delivery before Christmas so we could host family. Unfortunately, the experience from start to finish has been extremely disappointing.

The table arrived in mid-December, but almost everything was wrong. The colour was incorrect — we ordered antique oak, but the table was very orange and nothing like the samples or photos. The spider legs sent were the wrong size, so the table couldn’t be assembled, the bolts for the bench were missing, and the black powder-coated legs were already chipped. When I measured the tabletop, it was also significantly smaller than what we ordered.

I contacted Acumen with photos, and Craig was excellent to deal with. He arranged collection and for the table to be remade. During the remake, I paid extra to change the finish to clear wax to avoid another colour issue and also requested a size increase. I was patient and agreed not to push for a pre-Christmas replacement because they said they were extremely busy and having courier issues, and I agreed to a February redelivery.

In February, I received confirmation the table was in finishing stages. I contacted them to double-check everything was correct to avoid further problems, and they assured me it was. However, on delivery day the table arrived damaged again and, unbelievably, with the wrong legs again, meaning we still couldn’t assemble it.

At this point I was extremely frustrated. Michael, the owner, offered a partial refund if I kept the incorrect legs, which wasn’t practical because it meant the table would not be correctly bolted. I was told I wasn’t entitled to compensation, though they offered to send a stool as an apology and a repair kit so I could fix the damage myself. Spending £1,500 on furniture only to repair it myself at home was not ideal, but by then I was mentally exhausted by the whole situation.

I was then told the correct legs would arrive the same day as the wrong ones were collected. I waited in and rearranged work again, only to find out they hadn’t been dispatched. I had to chase this myself. In total, I rearranged my plans five separate times for collections and deliveries before finally receiving the correct legs.

The table is now assembled, but honestly the experience has taken away from it.

Recently, the apology stool arrived with the wax repair kit, but again the wrong colour repair wax had been sent — something that could have ruined the table had I used it without checking with Acumen twice. The first response was that is was correct!!!

Truthfully, every stage of this order has had issues. While I understand mistakes happen, a company is judged on how they resolve them, and unfortunately even the resolutions repeatedly went wrong. It has been a very stressful and disappointing experience overall.

We bought a large table and bench's for our new extension. They look amazing, are of fantastic quality, and have proved to be a real conversation piece with visitors. Couldnt be happier with them.
Customer Service outstanding - we moved the delivery date a number of times due to the build, and it was never a problem. Cannot fault anything and would highly recommend.

Acumen's customer service has been excellent from start to finish. We were kept informed at every stage of the process and when the furniture did arrive, it was very well packaged. We are also very happy with the end product, it was exactly as ordered. 😀

We have just taken delivery of our table & Bench from Acumen and it has by far exceeded our expectations! The quality, the effort that has gone into the table & perfection of the rustic appearance is absolutely outstanding. I would 100% advise using Acumen.

The communication with Michael was 5 star + which made the process of ordering really easy, answered any of my question’s within hours and helped me all along the way. This was very much appreciated 👍

Absolutely delighted with my dining chairs - they are even lovelier than I expected, and the quality is outstanding x Altho there were a few holdups with delivery date, the service more than made up for it. Michael kept me well informed throughout which I really appreciated and found very reassuring x overall I am extremely impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to buy from Acumen again Highly recommend!!
