Truly the worst customer service…
Truly the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Buckly up y'all. Not only was I lied to multiple times over the course of 1 week (so far) of being without cell service, I was directed to a link by a Straight Talk representative over the phone who told me I had to pay an extra fee to have my IMEI # unlocked. I ended up being charged close to $90 by what a different representative told me was a scam. At least 4 different representatives told me "my device was ineligible to be unlocked," but when I finally **successfully** made contact with the unlocking department (every other call dropped 1~ minute into the call, and after being on hold for 30+ minutes each time), the Head Representative of the Unlocking Department told me, "I don't know why anyone told you your device couldn't be unlocked, I'll unlock it for free right now." This same representative also assured me that after performing a factory reset on my cell phone, all I would have to do is insert a physical simcard from my new carrier and I would have no other problems with my service. Well. If I had a nickel for each time I'd been lied to by Straight Talk by this point, I'd probably have about 7 nickels. Because I went to my new provier this morning, where I received a brand new Simcard, and my phone is still rejecting it and I am still without a means of communication. When I say Straight Talk has the WORST customer service I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with, I mean it. I am still without phone service. If I have to get a new phone number (I've had the same number since 7th grade), the Straight Talk CEO will begin to cough in 5 days.
