Money In Our Pockets - Not In Yours

Wounded Warrior- the name sounds like something most veterans go through. The wounds of serving are many and often invisible. I don’t like these monstrosity organizations that give huge amounts of money to their leadership team. There is no need. Since you claim you are serving wounded warriors- you should take minimum wages like the rest of us. The majority of your money should go to serving wounded warriors. I am not sure who you serve- it certainly was not me. My VA claim sat on some VSOs office for months- so much so my filing date lapsed. Yeah you know the story.
Wounded Warrior- you are not for me. Perhaps for some other veteran maybe?

Incompetence

As a wounded warrior, when I joined I gave my story upfront. I had a psychotic break in
Apr. ‘24 and found myself in legal trouble. No jail/prison time because it was all due to my PTSD, I am however wearing an ankle monitor. I officially joined WWP in the spring of ‘25 (a year after the legal problems started) and attended a few outings which served as a sort of recreational therapy. Fast forward to
Sep. ‘25, WWP removes me from all in person events (without telling me) then 4 days later call me back (I called several times) and tell me they removed me from said in person events due to my legal issues that were presented up front. In their words they “dropped the ball” but I’m stuck holding it because of their lack of due diligence. As a vet that suffers from several different mental health diagnoses, this was a great big slap in the face. I was told not to join because of minute things that happened with veterans known to me personally and also by negative reviews due to past issues with donation handling but I am one to judge on my own accord, so I gave it a try.
I would not recommend this organization to any veteran as there seems to be incompetence and a lack of integrity at just about every level.

I dropped all support when I found out the truth.

when these guys started up, i was all in, as many are I'm sure. then i decided to check on not just WWP but our other donations because my family and my business were donating every month. Then I saw what they were paying their so-called executives

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the chance to show what your support truly makes possible.

The needs of post-9/11 wounded warriors are growing. More than 6 out of 10 warriors say they live with at least one mental health condition, like PTSD or depression. And, in this challenging economy, 1 in 10 warriors are working more than one job just to get by.

Your support really matters—here’s what it’s helping do for veterans and their families.

1. 68,600+ hours of treatment for PTSD, TBI, substance use disorder, and military sexual trauma

2. More than 266,450 hours of care to severely injured warriors

3. 1,280 warriors and family members get jobs

4. $223.6 million in VA benefits secured through claims filed by WWP

Thanks to donors like you, Wounded Warrior Project® was able to spend over $263 million in 2024 to help veterans, their families, and caregivers. That means about 71% of every dollar went straight to programs that help them—and they never have to pay for any of it. You can learn more at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/mission/financials, where you’ll also see our compensation packages are consistent with organizations of similar size and scope.

We’re happy to talk more—just reach out to us at support@woundedwarriorproject.org.

Hey dudes

Hey dudes. So far I’ve contacted the WWP resource center multiple times with no call back regarding what’s my next step. Avalon hasn’t contacted me back, the WWP independence program has denied me even tho I’ve asked to talk to a different interviewer because of communication problems, I’ve given my medical information to multiple entities now and I’ve had nothing but wasted energy and more depression. I’ve begged, cried and pleaded with many who said they had my back and it was just BS platitudes. I never thought another organization like the VA could drop the ball so fkn hard. I need help. At the minimum I’ve pleaded for MH help that’s not part of the VA and that has failed. Do I need to yell at everyone from a rooftop while I yell “I’m gonna jump?” Like wtf is this. Last week I fell over vacuuming, hands cracking open and bleeding with heat stroke injuries. You’ll find in my records that I’ve been diagnosed with paralysis of the tenth cranial nerve leaving me with speech problems but a neuropsychologist from the Marcus Institute tells me that’s all conversion disorder… bruh like everything uses that as an excuse but why do I have a medical diagnosis that says It’s caused by a STRUCTURAL NERO CONDITION? If it want for the vet center locally I’d be a double burnt turd thanks to the VA and no the WWP kicking me to the dirt. Stop sending me fucken surveys. 5 min after signing up I got a survey before I could even open my account asking how great WWP is, what’s done for me, how amazing it’s been, bla bla bla. I’ve been discounted again and even after begging for the next step and telling anyone I could that I need a therapist or counselor OUTSIDE the VA to talk to. I’m registered in the environmental hazard bs with psoriatic arthritis limiting mobility, psoriasis breaking open skin on my hands making any dexterity task painful, rashes in my ears, rashes in my mouth, genitalia rashes, migraines, labrynthia of the ear… I just wanted some one to talk to and I’m asking again: Will you help me? My only other option is contacting my senator AGAIN for help (they have been the only aide) to just fkn talk to a fkn counselor. I’m gonna upload this as a review to cause wtf man this is asinine af.

I didn’t feel
Like typing 2x so take a fkn copy

The Wounded Warrior Project changed my…

The Wounded Warrior Project changed my life. I struggled transitioning to civilian life after over a decade in the military and numerous deployments. I went to the VA and they helped but nothing like the WWP. I went on a Project Odyssey and was reluctant at first. What I found was caring people who all had personal interest in helping veteran get better and function in post military society. Participating in events and talking to other vets made me feel like I wasn’t alone in my feelings and together we can thrive. They were always about moving forward and how to function the way we were. Not to dig up the past and commiserate. I know some people have had bad experiences and I can not speak for them but just myself. I say the WWP is a great foundation and has made a huge positive impact on my life. The people I worked with are caring and engaged and I will always feel a great deal of gratitude to them.

Grifting Organization (Do not donate)

Grifting organization that only wants you to wear their branded products to boost their donations.

I was gaslit by them and their garbage Walter Reed doctor. Trying to psychologize my illness and humiliate me, when my spine, joints, and face are atrophying. I went to NYU Langone—have a service connected, aggressive, life threatening neuro-inflammatory / autoimmune disease that’s killing me. I have needed immune therapy (chemo).

Stay away from these grifters. It’s all about profits and wrapping themselves in the flag to grift. I’m still astonished by the disrespect and abuse I got. I learned there are many more who had the same experience…all a grift.

A truly disgusting organization

Why are all of the veterans in Wounded Warriors commercials are white. As a veteran I find that to be nothing short of pure racist hatred. And they have the gulls to ask for contributions to spend supposedly to help veterans.

Like many of these so call help the veterans non profit organizations, they are full of crap as well. Veterans would be better served if this organization was simply shut down.

Wounded warrior project is a scam

Wounded warrior project is a scam. Do not donate to this so called organization. They keep the larger portion of your donation for themselves and only share a small percentage with actual veterans in need of their services. A lot of Veterans are also refused their services and have to search elsewhere for veteran services. Other disabled veterans including myself have had several discussions at the VA about wwp and have decided not to donate

Find a Better, More Effective Way to Support Veterans

Every December, I make donations to charities I want to support. Several years ago, I included Wounded Warriors because I wanted to support disabled veterans. After reading some bad reviews about WW, I decided to stop supporting them. Since I made that original donation I have been bombarded with direct mail requests for more money. These requests usually include some little gift, like a refrigerator magnet or some address labels. Over the last few years, inspite of my multiple requests to take me off their mailing list, these requests come on a regular basis. The cost of these mailings have far exceeded my original donation, so the veterans have gotten nothing from me. My advice, find a needy veteran (there are plenty of them) and hand them some money

WOUNDED WARRIOR

On Paper and their TV Adds make this program look great but looks are deceiving. How could 100% of their donations to to Veterans while MILLIONS OF $$$ are used each year to pay their excetutive officers. Calculations show that more than 48% of donations are used to pay their EXPENSES..Plus its a known fact that disabled veterans ( depending on disabilty rating ) receive free medical care, free medications, Home and In house therapy IF NEEDED. Their homes can be made more handicapped accessible their vehicles IF NEEDED can be made for easier access and driving plus they receive Cash, tax free monthly income. Some receive mortage assistance and much more. So what is Wounded Warrior really doing.
Plus they will only allow POST 911 Vets to apply for help.
I would not call them phony but who are they truly helping

Very Little Followthrough Effort

Extremely let down by the WWP staff's effort to follow up on a request I made for information regarding mental health resources. 4
The day I completed registration I received two calls from numbers marked as "spam" but after listening to the voicemails and calling back (within 3 minutes) I only ever reached their VMs. The same thing happened the next day, I received a call at an unspecified time from a spam number. It also only rang once so it seemed like someone was just checking the box that they called.

The emails I received from these reps never indicated when I would receive calls and I work in a profession that doesn't allow cell phones in the office due to gov regulations. The only option I was given for an actual appointment to talk with someone was weeks out. Overall this experience solidified what a lot of others are saying, it seems like a scam.

SCAM

This organization is full of a bunch of "Has beens" who strictly focus on what they want to do for you at thier benefit. Its no wonder that they got busted spending donor money wrongfully or atleast had accusations against them. Im sick and tired of these organizatios preaching about how they can do all these things for veterans but if you dont hit all the check marks on thier little list youre out of luck. One of these days individuals are going to see what they really do and how they are really helping. I thought the VA was stressful, trying dealing with a 12 year veteran jar head who thinks your still apart of his command team, cocky not at all "profesional individual" who doesnt want to listen to your questions or wants to talk about the good ole days to distract you from answering your question. Yeah we all remeber being in. If you want help youre better off paying for it, atleast you have some sort of obiligation or agreement instead of working with these good ole day boys. If you happen to have a rep by the name of Alshi Williams, Good luck, he'll drown you out, ignore you, tell you to figure it out, tell you he knows better than you, and will gladly remind you about how bad A he is. Can't believe donor money is being spent to give guys like this a job when thousands of vets are in need or struggling out here. Shame. ID give this org a 0 RATING if possible. I will do everything in my power to expose these people. Good luck gents

I once was a contributor to wounded warriors a while back and then I found out the president was stealing money off of the actual veterans, an increase in his very Lucrative salary. Then the government stepped in and we know what a mess it turns into when the government steps into anything. I now give to tunnel two towers, where ninety five cents out of every dollar goes directly to the veterans. I will never give another penny to wound warriors.

Money wasted on Wounded Warroir Project

I see the advertisements on TV everyday. Showing the wonderful things they do. But has anyone took a look at what the CEO takes off the top. It's in excess of 700K a year. And that doesn't include his travel expense's at somewhere around 300K. What the hell does he do for that much money. If you want to do something for a Vet. Go to your local VFW and get a name of someone that needs help. You will at least know that your actually helping someone instead of paying for a mansion that doesn't help anyone but the CEO fantasy. All Information is public knowledge. Look it up.
