Backed out of agreement, no table, kept my money …
I ordered a marble coffee table from VHCT LTD at Grand Designs Live on 6 May 2017. The owner of the company, Tomek, along with his sales associate, Ian, were there and they quoted me £450 for one of their coffee tables including delivery. They required me to a pay a £20 deposit towards the table that day. I have been corresponding with Ian at VHCT for the last few weeks and he assured me my coffee table was in production. My family and I relied on this information and sold our existing coffee table. On 31 May I called Ian for an update and he said Tomek, the owner, had changed his mind and would no longer honor the agreement we made at Grand Designs Live. After paying VHCT a deposit, waiting for weeks and selling my existing coffee table, this was very unwelcome news to my family. It simply does not seem fair that VHCT should be able to back out of the deal now especially as the owner of the company made this agreement with me in person and had full knowledge of the terms when he took my order and deposit payment. I believe that VHCT should have to honor the agreement we made (and which they accepted twice, first live at the show and then again in emails). Avoid, avoid, avoid.
