Full house renovation.. July 2026
I have recently bought a new house in West Hull which I have renovated throughout July ‘26
I contacted the United Carpet store on Boothferry Road on 3 separate occasions as work progressed for my house to be measured up for carpets and flooring.
I spoke to Craig on each occasion who has been so friendly and helpful and has advised and recommended the most suitable flooring at the best prices.
All the carpets and flooring were measured and professionally fitted by Leon and his mate who have done an exceptional job.
I am so pleased with the products and service throughout and would highly recommend.

1st day carpet due to be fitted after…
1st day carpet due to be fitted after 12pm. Carpet fitter called yo say they were 5 minutes away at 8am. They refused to fit in the afternoon so it was postponed.
2nd time the carpet fitter fitted a carpet without underlay. This was clearly on the invoice.
Finally got it fitted on the 3rd attempt.
I do not recommend the company communication or the carpet fitter I'm afraid

Fitters left all of their waste and…
Fitters left all of their waste and rubbish thrown in the corner of the room and marked up all the newly finished walls. The carpet itself is nice and the salesman in the shop was good, just a shame that the fitters decided to leave all of their waste in the corner of a heavily pregnant woman's living room.

We completely understand how frustrating it is when the expected timeframe changes, especially after being advised that the carpet would take around 2–3 weeks. Unfortunately, some carpets are made to order, and production times can occasionally be delayed by the manufacturer, which appears to be the case here.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your patience while the carpet enters production.

Review of experience
Whilst we are very happy with the carpets themselves and have no issues with their quality, the information provided to us at the point of sale was incorrect.
We were under the impression that, as part of the free fitting service, our existing carpet would be uplifted. However, when the carpet fitters arrived, they advised that they had been told the old carpet would already have been removed. This requirement was not communicated to us at the point of sale, nor, according to the fitters, to other customers on the same day.
This misunderstanding resulted in a disagreement over the phone between the carpet fitters and the store manager while they were in our home. We were then informed that uplifting the existing carpet would incur an additional charge of £40. Although we were unhappy to pay this, we felt we had no choice as otherwise no work would be carried out.
We contacted the store immediately to request a refund of the £40. After several phone calls, this amount was eventually refunded.

However, we are genuinely sorry for the confusion regarding the uplift of your existing carpet and for the situation that arose on the day of fitting. We completely understand how frustrating and uncomfortable it must have felt to have a disagreement taking place while the independent fitters were in your home. The requirements that need to take place before fitting should of been made clear at point of purchase, and we are sorry that this did not happen.
We also regret that you initially felt you had no option but to pay the additional £40 in order for the work to proceed. While we are glad the matter was resolved and the refund processed after your follow-up calls, we appreciate that this required extra time and effort on your part.
Your feedback is important to us and has been shared with our team to ensure that preparation requirements are consistently and clearly explained to every customer to prevent similar misunderstandings in future.
