The worst micro job company I have worked for. For a project called "Gardenia Audio Collection Project" They asked me to record 52 sentences to train AI and rejected me twice.
The rules were to be in a quiet environment and to leave silences of 2 seconds at the beginning and 1 second at the end. They have an overzealous bot that automatically rejects the submissions if it detects the tiniest "problem".
Being rejected twice never happened to me before because I always submit thorough work.
The first time, they told me "you're too quiet", "the silences are too long". They asked me to not exceed 3 seconds at the beginning and 2 seconds at the end. So I did the job again and tried to not let the silences exceed 0.000001 second more than required, even though their app is wonky and the chronometer is too. I also made sure to speak louder.
And once more, I got rejected. The reason ? They noticed some FAINT background noise sometimes. When I say faint, I mean it. Imagine a mosquito's fart in your mind. That's how faint it is.
They recommended to "leave a bit more silence at the end before stopping". Make up your mind?! "Leave more silence at the end" or "do not exceed more than 2 seconds at the end"? I am receiving contradictory information there.
Because of this experience, I suspect them to be scammers and I wouldn't be surprised if they used my datas anyway. You can still try working for them if you have time to lose. Otherwise, you can work for literally anyone else: the ones who won't reject work worth 30 mins of your time, twice, because of their overzealous bot.
Good company to use if you want a shoddy service that's over-priced with poor communication.
I just want to add myself to the list of people who have accused DataForce of scamming them. I was approved to work on one of their projects recently, a voice recording one. I was given 7 business days to complete it, and I completed it far before the deadline. Despite DataForce saying I would get feedback on it within 10 business days, I didn’t hear from anyone. I contacted them at the 11-day mark and was congratulated on completing the task, then told it would take 10 business days for their quality assurance process to finish (even though 10 days had already passed; should’ve been a red flag).
A few days later, I was told that just a handful of my recordings needed to be redone, and I had 48 hours to do it. However, 24 hours later I got an e-mail from them saying that I hadn’t completed the original recordings on time (a lie) and that I hadn’t redone the new recordings on time (impossible as the 48-hour deadline had not elapsed yet). Therefore, I would not be paid. I replied to them, contradicting their claims in detail. But guess what? I never heard back. Really professional, right? And also interesting, considering how quickly they responded when they were trying to get me to record in the first place.
The thing is, there were more than a few red flags that should have put me on notice. The numerous complaints on Reddit and TrustPilot about the company either delaying payments or unfairly denying them after people completed work (go ahead, Google it). The aggressiveness with which they badgered me to start work on the project (I got an e-mail about it the day after I got approved). The utter lack of communication after I finished the project. With each unprofessional act, I grew more and more suspicious.
I’ve seen it mentioned on here before, but it seems like with a lot of people, their M.O. is to ask you to complete certain activities by certain deadlines, ignore you for a period of time afterwards, then pretend like you didn't meet those deadlines despite them being the ones who don't communicate. Reprehensible.
Do not waste your time with DataForce. There are other companies offering similar kind of work with a much better reputation. DataForce appears happy to exploit you knowing there is nothing you can do about it afterwards. I encourage you all to spread the word to everyone you know online and in real life to avoid this immoral company. In addition, if you’ve had a bad experience with them (and I know many of you have), I highly encourage you to leave them a negative review on TrustPilot and other review sites so that other people can be warned and spared of their malfeasance. We can fight back in our own ways.
One more thing: If you're in NYC and have been scammed by DataForce, I just read that you can file a formal complaint with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (Intake: 2026-43700-INT). Apparently behavior such as this may violate the NYC Freelance Isn't Free Act.
I am writing this to warn fellow freelancers about the payment practices at TransPerfect/DataForce.
During my first month, I was paid in full and on time at the agreed rate. However, in the second month, without any prior notice or warning, the company retroactively slashed my pay by 60%.
Their excuse? They claimed I didn't meet a "99% quality standard," despite my score being a high 95%. This "standard" was never communicated as a condition for payment before the work was completed. I explicitly rejected this "deduction" policy in writing on January 4th, yet they continued to assign me work and are now withholding $592.20 of my earned wages for 64.88 hours of labor.
This is a blatant violation of the NYC Freelance Isn't Free Act. I have already filed a formal complaint with the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (Intake: 2026-43700-INT).
TransPerfect is attempting to use "internal investigations" to stall, while ignoring the fact that they cannot unilaterally change a freelancer's pay rate after the work has been performed.
Freelancers beware: They will treat you well for a month to gain your trust, then steal your wages using impossible "quality" metrics. I am still waiting for my full payment.
Update (March 2): It has been 11 days since TransPerfect's public reply claiming they would 'look into it,' yet there has been absolutely no progress, no payment, and no follow-up. This confirms the public response was just for show.
Are you a freelance translator looking for work? Welcome to hell. Until a few years ago, it was possible to work with this company and earn a good salary, but then things changed. They brought in a mass of highly incompetent linguists, creating crazy competition that made it impossible to get jobs from the platform, as they are snapped up as soon as they are posted. Probably, as some suspect, some “clever” people have found a way to automate claims, which doesn't bother those who publish them in the slightest. Freelancers, regardless of their level of expertise and experience, are treated like numbers. PMs only show up when there is an urgent revision to be done, and many of them don't create POs until after endless requests, delaying payments. It almost seems like they're doing you a favor. If you have any work-related problems, you're on your own. Lately, since freelancers are apparently too expensive, they have launched a campaign to reduce external work, entrusting it to people on fixed salaries who are not necessarily more experienced. The quality of translations has dropped dramatically, so much so that I wonder which client still wants to rely on them. But don't worry, now there's AI, and translators are being reduced to the role of reviewers of machine translations. Best wishes.
I've been working as a subtitle translator/QC with one of their Southeast Asian subsidiaries since 2022. Despite the low pay, pay had always been on time, and I got paid every month. Ever since that subsidiary's system merged with TransPerfect's, it has been impossible to receive any payment.
First, one of their European subsidiaries who could actually pay €5.50/minute sent their project through the Southeast Asian one instead so they only had to pay a pathetic $1.75/minute rate (I have email proofs). Then, someone from that European subsidiary did something that turned the payment currency of all my other POs into EUR despite the fact that my setting had always been USD. That resulted in my invoice being on hold and now the payment is 23 days late (minus 45 days).
If you think it's bad enough not being paid, they also charge $20 for every bank transfer.
Anyways, I got in contact with someone who's supposed to be able to help. They advised me to update my payment currency, but the system just wouldn't let me. Now they want me to void all my invoices, passed the buck all the way back to the PM/PCs who clearly didn't know how to void invoices and who weren't responsible for the payment currency farce in the first place. Of course, I AM DOING ALL THE COORDINATIONS, and I've only received one apology so far.
Nothing has changed since I inquired about the late payment more than a week ago, only much of my time and energy wasted.
Oh and did I mention that their pay is terrible? They also got unprofessional in-house "proofreaders" who are more than happy to ruin your translation works. If you enjoy the worst kind of vendor treatment, TransPerfect truly is the perfect place for you. The Wonderland of hidden peanuts and buck passing masters!
ES UN ROBO, QUE HAGA UN PROYECTO BASTANTE LARGO Y DE LA REVOLUCION ESPAÑOLA, PARA DECIR QUE DEBO COMPRAR UNA TARJETA DE PRESENTACION EN 150 DOLARES PARA QUE SE TERMINE DE HACER LA TRANSACCION DE PAGO DICEN, NUNCA LAS EXTENCIONES DE EMAIL SON DE UNA EMPRESA NI LOS FORMULARIOS, TENGAN CUIDADO ES UNA ESTAFA,
QUE NO SEAN ESCEPTICO DICEN, PUEDE SER, PERO NO TONTO
The reviews speak for themselves. I have had the misfortune of working for them and I can say that they are the worst translation agency I have ever worked with in my life. Poor quality, irresponsible project managers, they don't meet conditions or deadlines and never pay on time or decide not to pay. They are a disaster and exploit their collaborators. No one wants to work with them because they are more like a criminal organization than a legitimate translation agency.
TransPerfect’s interpreting assessments rely on a rigid scoring cutoff (76%) that doesn’t match the reality of live interpreting. Even their own interviewers acknowledge that in practice, getting the message across matters more than recalling an exact term. Unfortunately, the company’s system prioritizes checkbox conformity instead of communication.
TransPerfect is a large name in translation, but their interpreting side feels underdeveloped. The process comes across as bureaucratic rather than professional: rigid testing, constant hiring, and an emphasis on rules over clarity.
I also noticed their 1.6 TrustPilot rating. At first that surprised me, but my experience of the process aligns with that score — it suggests systemic misalignment between their procedures and what interpreting actually requires.
💡 Coach’s Comment: If a company is always hiring but seasoned interpreters keep slipping through, that’s a system problem, not a talent problem. Interpreting is about clarity, nuance, and human connection — not just ticking glossary boxes. Interpreters: don’t let a percentage shake your worth. Companies: if strong candidates keep slipping through, it may be time to rethink the rubric.
I was hired to write a user guide for a Roche acute diagnostic medical device. Editors loved my work and it was accepted after quality review July 10, 2025. I submitted my purchase order to their "rapid" invoice processing system, RIPS and have been waiting ever since for notification that my paycheck was mailed out. I am waiting on $1,995 for my work. I need it now to pay back a high interest loan I had to take out to pay my bills. It is a horrible sinking feeling to do quality work and not get paid. I am praying that someone who can help me responds here. My name is Sarah McLeod.
Just finished a task where they are wanting to pay 1500 once done I entered my bank info and got a vat code i than contacted the bank they work with and was told I need to pay 200 usd to withdraw my funds: and the person I spoke to thought I caught a attitude once I said y wasn’t I informed I needed to pay at the beginning
They treat translators as garbage, so it's no wonder that the output quality is as low as hell. How could you expect to receive a good translation if you do everything to demotivate the performers? Their PMs are rude and barely read the emails when you signal a problem or anything. They simply ignore you. Also, their tasks or "submissions" become unavailable in milliseconds after you receive them. They say that you "just need to be fast" but, men, what kind of professional translator would accept the job offer without even familiarizing themselves with what they are about to work on??? Also, there's a suspicion that some of their "professional translators" are using some kind of autoclickers, because it's simply impossible that tasks disappear from the platform in less than a second.
Considering all this mess, it's no wonder that they deliver trash instead of legit translations.
I've been providing translation and MTPE services to TransPerfect since 2011. Like any other translation agency, they have their issues, but they always pay what it being agreed to. The reviewers who say that they were asked to send a payment to TransPerfect were obviously defrauded by individuals who falsely identified themselves as TransPerfect's recruiters or employees. TransPerfect uses their HUB and special web portals for accessing the jobs and submitting invoices. When a project manager from TransPerfect contacts you, they always have "transperfect.com" after their name and @ in the email address. Also, they will always send a Purchase Order with all the details about the job, rates, their address, PO number, due dates and link for submitting your invoices. They're not fraudulent. Due to the urgency of some translation projects, it can happen that a project manager hires you and hours later, informs you that the job has been assigned to another vendor. Occasionally, they may experience minor delays and payment processing issues; however, they will never request an upfront payment from their vendors or fail to send the payment to their vendors. They utilize PayPal and checks that can be redeemed at any conventional bank. They're not perfect, and there's no such thing as a "perfect" translation agency, but they are reliable and honest. A vendor can also negotiate a better price or reject a job if the offered fee is not acceptable. TransPerfect doesn't "punish" such vendors and continues to hire them or offer them other jobs on a regular basis.
❌ Fraudulent Experience – Not Recommended
I completed a project with professionalism and dedication. When it came time to receive payment, I was told I had to deposit $50 as a “requirement” to unlock the funds. This condition was never mentioned beforehand. After completing the work, I received no payment, and it became clear this was a scam.
⚠️ Don't fall for these kinds of schemes. If you're asked to pay to get paid, it's a red flag.
I'm sharing this so others don’t go through the same experience.
I did my project on TRANSPERFECT and now for my salary they keep referring me to different people and telling me to deposit a certain amount to get my salary
Not a good company I will not refer a person to work with, very bad experience I came across
DataForce by TransPerfect is a very disorganized company. They had wanted us to do onboarding, training, and production all within the first week. Also, they didn't really take into account any technical difficulties one may have had in attempting to access for example, LMS Training. Emails sent to HR, IT, or LMS Support would lead to Microsoft Outlook either rejecting the delivery of the email or a TransPerfect employee will send an email stating that one is not allowed access to make LMS requests or General Inbox requests. They expected us to annotate fourteen audio recordings in an hour after being trained for one week. In order to do that, one would have to do 4 annotations in a minute, which is impossible. Note, I had difficulty accessing LMS Training. The Cardamom project only last for about 2 months. When I received the termination email, I was told simultaneously that I did not meet their unrealistic and unreasonable productivity goals and that at the same time, the decision to terminate my employment had nothing to do with my skills and qualifications as a employee. It is also telling that I was terminated a day before I had scheduled to take a day off. Do not work for DataForce and do not work for TransPerfect. They have no integrity.
