What a relief, they have refunded me at last! After hearing many excuses, being passed from pillar to post, countless emails and phone calls, and finally threats from me (lawyers in Scotland and England, social media, Rip Off Britain), my deposit on a contract I cancelled the day after I had signed it has been returned to my account.

Many charities appear to be using a third party outfit that passes (sells?) the personal details of people who are interested in a free will-writing service, to the likes of Thomas Bradley + Co who do not appear to employ any qualified solicitors at all. It seems to me that they are basically a call centre.

Whenever I phoned them, the responses were the same, blaming another department, whoever I spoke to. It was like listening to a broken record, if anyone remembers those.

It appears to me that their main target audience is the elderly, hoping they simply give up, tire of complaining, or die, before deposits are repaid.

A horrible experience dealing with this company.
They held a large sum of our money for many months without delivering anything we had asked for.
A negative comment on their facebook page resulted in them blocking me.
Many of our emails were simply ignored, especially those to senior management
A few weeks ago they promised a full refund within seven working days
We had to chase this up by email and by phone before they eventually refunded this week.
They don’t seem to care about reputational risk and if the management ignore staff to the level they did us, I believe they could end up in an industrial tribunal as repeated ignoring is a form of bullying.
Not once did they apologise for their shocking service.
My advice to anyone thinking about using them for writing a will, power of attorney or a trust, stay well clear they are not worth the worry they cause and the hassle of trying to get them to treat you with even a little dignity is very stressful.

Truly poor service. We have been clients since September 2024. We asked to get Wills, POA and a Trust. A year on and we have only been given 2 wills. We had a competency call arranged for POA last night and no one called. Now going down official complaint route. This company is regulated which will allow me to put a complaint into the Legal Ombudsman.

Terrible service. They took payment for the creation of a will when they visited to draft it a year ago and I have had nothing since.
I've chased 3 times now and still not had any traction.
I gave up and asked for a refund over a month ago. Unsurprisingly the communication has been minimal and I haven't received my refund.

Thomas Bradley make a point of commenting on negative reviews, mine being one of them. They said this: -

We’re sorry to hear about your concerns and are disappointed that you feel this way. Thomas Bradley & Co provides estate planning and trust services in Scotland through experienced professionals who operate fully within Scottish legal and regulatory frameworks.

My parents do not live in Scotland and this company are not authorised or qualified to directly provide the "advice" they purport to give people. They respond in public forums like this to make it seem they care, but they do not respond to emails. The make people sign direct debit forms to pay them thousands of pounds in advance of any work being done. The advice they give is not just questionable but misleading and basically just bad. Please do avoid for the sake of your wallet and your family.

Extremely Poor Legal Advice and Service – Avoid Thomas Bradley & Co Solicitors

Our experience with Thomas Bradley & Co has been extremely disappointing, and I feel it’s important to warn others — particularly those considering them for Lasting Power of Attorney, estate planning or Trust work.

The firm advised us to create a Trust for my mother and grandmother’s property, but the advice was incomplete, misleading, and potentially negligent. We were never properly informed about the serious implications relating to care home fees, Capital Gains Tax. Given my grandmother’s age and health, these risks were foreseeable, yet never discussed. Had we proceeded, the Trust could have been deemed deliberate deprivation, exposing us to significant care costs.

The paperwork prepared was also full of basic errors:
    •    My mother’s name was spelt incorrectly
    •    A solicitor signed and witnessed their section before my mother or grandmother completed theirs
    •    My mother was told to sign despite these issues remaining unresolved

This shows a clear lack of care and raises serious procedural concerns.

Since October 2024 we’ve faced constant delays, poor communication, and no accountability. Repeated chasers have gone unanswered, and the original property deed we provided has still not been returned.

We raised a formal complaint and requested a refund due to what we believe is professional negligence. Despite this, no response has been received since 12 July 2025.

This situation has caused huge stress, uncertainty, and potential financial harm. We have no confidence in Thomas Bradley & Co’s professionalism or integrity and strongly recommend others avoid this firm and seek advice elsewhere.

This company is no way, a legal company, I had a person to my house, to say exactly what I wanted to do with my house and moneys in a Will, it came through today nothing like what I had told them just a scappy A4 piece, of paper, DONT USE THIS FIRM THEY DONT DO WHAT YOU ASK TO BE DONE. And when i just phoned and spoke to a girl, all she could say do you want to cancel this Will then. She couldnt care aless. As it's nothing like I quoted all is left to the wrong people. When I asked to speak to management she said there was no one avaliable . And put the phone down,

We used Thomas Bradley to sell my dad’s house. From the first meeting Lisa was fantastic. She explained everything to me and also took the time to talk my dad through the process.

Lisa had great knowledge of the local market and gave good advice on how to market and price the property for sale.

Nothing was too much bother for Lisa. She was happy to do the viewings for us, to group them and minimise the disruption and stress for dad.

We had looked at a couple of the other well known online estate agents but their approach, attitude and customer service left us feeling like just another house sale.

Great service. Ended with a good sale. At the fees were very competitive.

I spoke with Colin re my free Will and he explained everything to me in such a clear, simple and friendly way I had no hesitation in going ahead. Whilst I initially also took out a Power of attorney, I decided to wait to a later date and cancelled that but Kieran Smith could not have been more helpful to me in getting that refunded. I will say that they are understandably busy people, but they do their best to help you. Looking forward to to continuing to working with them.
