My husband and I are business owners. We know how to make money. Knowing how to design a retirement plan was foreign to us. Most financial advisors focus only on investing. Phillis Pilvinis took the time to explain wealth distribution options during retirement, much of which is determined by decisions we make now. She gave us a much bigger picture with more options than we had previously considered. You don't know what you don't know... Highly recommend taking one of her classes and/or sitting down for a free consultation. We did both, and glad we did!

SWD put me into a Shield-10 Annuity that has a 10 year surrender charge and the 7% initial bonus is not entirely captured for 10 years. The participation rate is very low for the S&P500 Index that it tracks, less than 3%. Plus the pay out ratio if you decide to annuitize is only 4.19%. It would take me over 20 years to recoup my initial investment into this annuity if I decided to annuitize. I'm sure that the commission was very lucrative for the person who sold it to me. I ended up cashing out of the annuity for a $1300 loss.

The stock portfolio is a mixture of ETF's and individual stocks. At one point all reopening stocks in early 2021 were sold out and rolled into the QQQ when the NASDAQ was out of favor. Tactical portfolio allocation is not used at all. Positions are rarely traded and market trends are not followed. Stocks like VZ, T, UBER, LYFT, GLD, and GLTR were all losing investments for the portfolio.

Updates to the equity portfolio were few and far between.

I have been working with Strategic Wealth Designers for a little over a year now. There are a number of things I like about them, but the first and most important is that they are independent fiduciary advisors, so they are not tied to any one group of investment options and are legally bound to seek investments that are most advantageous for their clients. In addition to this, they are excellent communicators who keep in touch and do an excellent job of explaining our different options while tailoring a program that is best for our individual needs. They also have a fantastic commitment to educating their clients and provide an excellent number of continuing education options to help us learn about many topics that influence our financial future. They were very up front about their fees and they were able to significantly reduce the fees I was paying on my portfolio. I have no problem with people who offer an excellent service being compensated, but that is NOT what SWD is about. They are about excellent service above all. They are nice, professional, enjoyable people to work with and I feel privileged to have them managing my investments and helping me plan for retirement!

Financial advisors should be able to explain the investment products they're selling to me in detail. Not the case. Strategic Wealth Designers do not understand that my money is important to me. What they do seem to understand is that my money is important for them. They are selling just to earn a commission. Go to Edward Jones or anyone more stable. I do NOT recommend Strategic Wealth Designers to anyone who cares about their retirement!
