Struans are a local family business committed to providing the best service and value for our customers. With branches in Dundee and Perth there is a great choice of new cars from Peugeot and Mazda - all top manufacturers with great reputations and each with their own personality. Our range of used cars covers all makes including Volkswagen, Nissan, Citroen, Ford, Vauxhall and more, with the number of vehicles we offer increasing growing due to both our success and our determination to provide motorists in Tayside with more choice. Since we started over 40 years ago Struan Motors have grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most popular places for people in Tayside, and much further afield, to choose to purchase their new car. Although Struan Motors now offer a choice of 3 new car franchises, a large stock of used cars, a fast-fit centre, vehicle rental and a full after-sales service, it was not always like that Struan Robertson, as a time served mechanic with an excellent reputation first branched out on his own in 1974 with a small holding at Kinfauns just outside Perth, where he specialised in the servicing and repair of Volkswagens. However, as his reputation spread, it soon became clear that the business needed to expand in order to meet customer demand and so his brother John joined him as they moved into larger premises in South William Street in Perth in 1977. Struan Motors popularity flourished, helped by the convenience of this new city centre location, and soon adjacent property was taken over to help cope with demand and allow for the arrival of the Mazda franchise which was awarded way back in 1981, making Struans one of the longest established Mazda dealers in Scotland! The next big step was when, due to their growing reputation for customer service, Toyota chose Struans to represent them in Perth, which once again required more room, and a showroom in nearby Victoria Street was created. Some of these city centre properties still bear the Struan name to this day as they are where our tyres and all-makes servicing branch is based. Our landmark Struans Motor Village in Crieff Road, Perth first started off in 1987 when our Toyota showroom moved there, to what had been a greenfield site. Ever since then there has been continual development with the opening of our Peugeot showroom in 1989, and our new Mazda showroom in 1995. The site has also seen a large and spacious used car display area created, with a large customer car parking area rarely seen at dealerships with landscaping to give a relaxed atmosphere.. Over the years Struans had developed a loyal customer base from all over the country, but particularly in Dundee. This led us develop a prominent site which we initially used as a Toyota dealership and is now a used car specialist Autocentre dealing with all makes of vehicles. Now that we have grown to have 2 great centres in Perth and Dundee we are now focused on ensuring our customers receive the best possible experience at Struans.

My car was booked in for an MOT and service for 8:30 today, I unfortunately got held up in traffic and didn't get there until around 9:10, I explained why I was late the woman behind the counter said your appointment was for 8:15 for which I replied saying it was 8:30 and I got a text the day before telling me this. I then asked how long it would take to get the car back, she said it will be 5 o'clock and because I'm not from the area I said what am I supposed to do until 5 o'clock? she said “I can cancel your appointment?” I said, cancel? why? I've taken a days holiday for this, she then said “I can order you a taxi to the city centre” I really can't understand why she thought I'd want to go there. I did accept the appointment and went over to the near by Tesco and had a coffee then went and sat in the Peugeot reception from 12 o'clock to 4:30 I really do think it was a terrible way to treat someone, every other person that came in to book an appointment were offered times between 8:30- 13:00 or 13:00 - 17:00 so I was not booked in for 08:15. I overheard other people thanking the receptionist as they brought the car in late because of traffic and they all got their car back within a reasonable time frame, and not once did anyone come over and even ask if I would like a coffee. So be warned If you choose to use this garage DO NOT BE LATE

We're sorry that you were unavoidably delayed and were unhappy with the service you received on your arrival. We did explain that the MOT bookings were full, and that the next MOT was in the slot. Unfortunately, the MOT bookings were very busy for the day, and we did offer to fit you in when we could or offer another appointment. It's regrettable that the delay you experienced had a knock-on effect. Our waiting area has a fully stocked tea and coffee machine next to the seating area, we apologise that you missed this and will look to see if we should make this facility clearer to customers.
We always try to offer a 5-star service, however, sometimes circumstances out with our control make this difficult.
We appreciate your comments and will use them to learn from and try to make sure we do better next time we have a customer in a similar situation.

This is the fourth car I have got from…

This is the fourth car I have got from Struan. They have always been excellent to deal with, maybe a tad dearer than some, but you get what you pay for and more. I trust them and the services they use. If there are any problems, you can rest assured that you will have their full attention.

Good experience

Visited Struans in Perth after making an appointment by phone to test drive MX-5.
After getting the history of the car and my inspection I was offered either accompanied or solo test drive.
From going through the door to leaving I felt very comfortable and under no pressure to buy.
I have dealt with Stuans in the past and had the same experience.

Great dealer

Great dealer. I bought a car this week and they could not be more helpful. The sales team are polite and knowledgeable. The online process for the sale is seamless and efficient. Great dealer on a service pack and ceramic coating to top it off. I definitely recommend theses guys.

Would never buy from them again

12 month warranty is next to useless, doesn't cover Diagnostic charges. Doesn't really cover any of the faults I had with car in 1st 12 months. ABS fault, blocked oil pickup and breaking up Cam Belt. They 0ffered to pay partial cost for Cambelt, but I had to put into Peugeot Main Dealer (Which they also own). Paid over £1200 for repairs on a 4 year old car within one year.

Would never trust or buy a car from here every again, and I would advise everyone to aviod this dealer.

I’m sorry to read the review you’ve posted about our Centre. Whilst I understand your disappointment at having to bear these costs 11 months after purchasing your car, I feel you omit certain details I’d like to add to put things into context.

You collected your car from our Centre on 21st November 2023 and we were first notified of these issues in an email sent to our Sales Controller/Manager on 16th October 2024.

In this email you informed us of the faults (ABS wiring issue and oil pick up clean) and that you had to pay for them as they were not covered by your Warranty. These faults were not diagnosed by our Centre as you had taken your car to another Repair outlet, and we had no opportunity to discuss things with the Warranty provider as we were never contacted at the time.

My Sales Controller contacted you and explained that under these circumstances we would not cover costs for diagnostic or repairs for work carried out by a third party.

However, during this same call, he explained that as you had now decided to book your car into our Peugeot Centre in Perth to have your wet belt changed, we would offer a “goodwill contribution” covering 100% of ALL parts required to complete the job. So, despite not being covered by your Warranty our contribution equated to approximately 32% (exc VAT) of your total bill which we deducted from the Invoice you paid when you collected your car.

The Warranty pack you received gives full details of cover and exclusions - unfortunately, it does not cover every eventuality which is why I offered you some Goodwill to cover some of your costs – something which not every Retailer does.

I’m sorry this gesture did not meet your expectations as I genuinely felt it was fair under the circumstances.

I purchased a 2016 Kia Sportage from…

I purchased a 2016 Kia Sportage from this garage with a 6 month warranty. Over the 5 months I owned the car it was back and forth 5 times, mainly due to an issue with the gearbox, however we also suffered issues with the reverse camera and sensors, the alarm, speaking brakes and an intermittent squeaking and grinding sound that was never diagnosed. When my patience ran out and asked for a refund I was offered £6000 for a car I had purchased 5 months previous for £10500. I obviously rejected this offer stressing that it was a "refund" I was looking for due to all the issues with the car. I was then contacted by the sales manager who offered £8100 suggesting that the car would depreciate at £1 per mile the car had done since purchase. Exhausted with the whole process I accepted the £8100, only to see the car back on their website a few weeks later for £9995. When I approached the company again for an explanation I was advised that the car had been tested and put back on the forecourt and that it was up to them how much they charged for their vehicles. Terrible service (and the issues with the gearbox never were resolved).

Friendly, helpful and professional

From start to finish, Calum was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I was purchasing a new Mazda 2 on a PCP and he explained everything really well, without putting any pressure on or being anything other than professional. Really happy with the flexibility offered for pick up, and will certainly use again. Thanks so much!

Great service

I have experienced problems with van after having for few weeks. Scott has been really helpful, he arranged repair really efficiently. Van was repair in few days despite long distance from garage. First class customer service. Thank you so much and keep up great standards:)

Vehicle already sold but still listed

spoke on the online chat and said I was going to visit to look at a vehicle listed on the website. Drove nearly 2 hours to view the vehicle to find a sold board in the window. Spoke to the salesman told him I was on the chat the night before and he asked me who I spoke to. He went inside and then came back out to tell me that it turns out the online chat is automated. I then said that the car is still listed on multiple sites including their own to which he said it takes a couple of days to come off. This isn't a very good way to run the business surely the cars should be put down as sold straightaway to avoid people travelling to see a vehicle thats not available. I have now wasted nearly 4 hours of my Sunday plus fuel.

Apologies for the inconvenience you experienced whilst attempting to view one of our vehicles, I completely understand your frustration.
Our vehicles drop off the website as soon as they are invoiced, however until this point, they will still show for sale even with an order in place. Our live chat system is there to answer as many questions as possible and allow one of our sales team to then pick up the lead.
In this instance, it appears that it's taken longer than we would've liked for the sales person to make contact once they've been advised of the live chat, resulting in your unnecessary trip.
We have a reserve online function which allows customers to reserve a vehicle online for a 24 hour period at a cost of £99, which is refundable. However, it may be that you didn't come across this option whilst online.
Once again, please accept my sincere apologies and if there is a particular vehicle that would interest you, whether or not we have it in stock, I will be delighted to get one of my team to assist you.
