It's not "cheap" if it doesn't work.

A few years ago I bought something as simple as a lightweight hand drill of the kind my father inherited from his grandfather and worked forever. The Stanley one has never worked at all. It's pretty much stone age technology but they can't do it. It's dangerous to get angry up a ladder so this rubbish will finally be binned and I will never buy anything with this brand name again. It's cheap Chinese made garbage and it's taking us back to the stone age. I hope they go bankrupt. Anyone who buys their stuff is a mug imho. DIY shops stocking this kind of rubbish should hang their greedy heads in shame.

Just as poor customer service

Their customer service is exactly the same as the quality of their No-4 Sweetheart Smoothing Plane; ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH - EXTREMELY POOR. I have recently taken delivery of a STANLEY® “No. 4” Sweetheart™ Smoothing Bench Plane and after flattening the blade I was surprised and more than a little disappointed with the cutting performance of the tool.  Upon further inspection, I noticed the “Frog” had not been machined correctly in so much as; in the corners of the mouth of the frog there are clear arc-shaped steps corresponding to the radius of the end-mill used to machine the surface.  These steps prevent the blade seating flat across the frog and in turn, affect the cutting performance and induce blade chatter. Further, the sole is scratched and the chip-breaker edge is like a brick wall. Having informed Stanley customer service two weeks ago via their website, I am similarly disappointed with the lack of response. Certainly not in line with the grand statement on the website; "OWN A LITTLE PIECE OF HISTORY: Making great quality hand tools has been a STANLEY® tradition since 1843, but in the 1920s STANLEY’s Sweetheart™ range, named to honour long-time company president, William Hart (1884-1915), quickly became synonymous with some of the most sought after and cherished woodworking tools on the market." Unfortunately, these are just words and quite meaningless without the actions to back them up!

⚠️ THE "TOOL-FREE" TOOL THAT REQUIRES A…

⚠️ THE "TOOL-FREE" TOOL THAT REQUIRES A WORKSHOP TO REMOVE THE PACKAGING BEFORE USE ⚠️

I've just found a need to use my brand new "INSTANTCHANGE" [sic] STANLEY Knife 10-788. Easy enough, or so you'd think. Well, think again...

As a very experienced engineer and DIYer, the first problem was "how do I get it out of its display packaging?"

STANLEY sells this knife as having the advantage that you won't need any tools. Ho hum...

It comes with two kinds of Anti-Use packaging. 1) tight fitting cellophane that requires you to own a second STANLEY Knife to remove it. Then, 2) the real treat is the totally non-removable display packaging. It's a piece of super-strong cardboard that slots in where the blade is later inserted. So, you press the yellow release button and attempt to push the slider forwards to release the card/blade on your "tool-less" new STANLEY knife. NO CHANCE!

The display card is held captive inside the mechanism. If it's like their other display cards, you'll need some workshop tools to remove the Philips + head screw, to completely dismantle this "tool-less" tool, before you can remove the display card, which is permanently secured inside the mechanism.

I tried telephoning STANLEY customer support to ask how customers are supposed to remove the display card if the customer isn't an engineer with workshop tools. Their answer is that they don't know how to remove the display card as they don't have examples of their tools at the support centre. They only confirmed that they guess you need to own tools to use this knife.

My guess is they bought it from China and no-one had the sense to actually try to use it. Indeed, even before you attempt to remove the display card, they've tightly wrapped it in plastic, for which you need a second STANLEY knife to remove.

Another great company run by a clueless management team who have no experience of using tools!

I asked to send it to the address on their packaging. (After all, their customer support department is clearly needing an example.) But, rather than offering to support their loyal customer, they hid behind a legal get-out clause. That's the last Utility Knife I'll be buying from Stanley!

Warranty not worth it

Tried to claim on warranty for a very simple repair (lawn Mower) for a part that costs a few pence, even though I had logged on there web site all the equipment when I had purchased them, with all the serial numbers etc, but no they wanted receipts/proofs of purchase I will never buy or recommend. Stanley were a good name when I was younger and things lasted, not now

Appalling Quality and Customer Service

Bought a brenton bolt from B&M bargains, the quailty was totally shocking, bolts shredding screw heads rounding, backplate bending etc... contacted customer services a Jerick Tanjusay, who told me to take it back to the store and that was it, when i complained further and mentioned trustpiolt reviews he ended the chat on me!!!! What sort of customer service is that last time i buy a stanley product, shocking......

Awful company don't buy

Awful company, do not buy anything with this brand name. Dont even know how they are still trading. Bought a Fatmax work bench that bowed under 10kg weight, advertised as capable of holding 400kg. Tried to claim warranty and was told bench was not able to hold constant weight so therefore warranty claim refused. Where on earth was this stated that the item can only hold 400kg some of the time?! Luckily I managed to get a refund from PayPal and will never deal with this company or buy their products again. Absolute joke of a company and they should be ashamed. Crooks!

Heute habe ich im Jumbo Kaiseraugst ein…

Heute habe ich im Jumbo Kaiseraugst ein Stanley Messer für Fr. 14.95 gekauft, in der Meinung ein gutes Produkt zu erwerben. Das Produkt mag ja gut sein, aber die Ver Packung ist jenseits des Zumutbaren. Es kann doch nicht sein, dass ich zum Entfernen der Verpackung zuerst das Messer komplett zerlegen muss, um dann das Teil mühsam wieder zusammen zu bauen. War mein erstes und mit Sicherheit mein letztes Stanley Produkt - ein NoGo vom feinsten. Liebe Grüsse, Andreas Clavadetscher

Reference the Stanley Stapler

Reference the Stanley Stapler, model TR250.
The product includes a 'cable guide' to provide the user with confidence to staple a cable without danger of penetrating a cable. However, we learned from the manufacturer that this stapler is not suitable for stapling wire cable and 'U' type staples are not available. Bit like a pair of Wellington boots that are unsuitable for use in water we suggest.

So tell me where in the UK or on line can I buy the Fatmax cordless ROUTER and the Fatmax cordless PLANER.
Replies from STANLEY after contacting them don’t have a glue who’s selling them in the UK.
Sorry but how do you not know what retailers are selling your product for you ?

Just looking at a lot of reviews on here for Stanley tools not getting a great score .very bad really.

Terrible service

Terrible service. I bought a 3 in 1 leaf blower from a supplier in the UK. I’m in the ROI. It was shipped in good condition and all that. No issue. Had it for two years and used it about 8-10 hours max. Had awful trouble starting it this year. Brought it to a Stanley dealer here in Ireland the exact words were, is this a fake blower? We looked at the badge and sure enough it’s made in China. Contacted Stanley and this is where it gets good. They claim it’s a proper Stanley part. I said that fine, where is it made. They wrote back saying they don’t know but it would have passed inspection. I asked who inspected it. Well we didn’t was the reply. Asked again, who actually makes it and Stanley said we don’t know but they are a reputable company but we have no idea who they are or where they are!!! One of the people I was dealing with actually asked that if I find out who makes it to tell Stanley as they wanted to know who made it.
Got into the supplier and their answer was only 1 year warranty. It was such a bad product that they stopped selling it.
In now left with a giant paper weight that was made by some strange company in China and all Stanley are saying is tough luck because it was made in China we can’t accept responsibility for it but we do guarantee it’s a good quality product.
Stanley have sold their souls for profit. Don’t buy their stuff as it’s all cheap imported rip offs.

nothing went wrong with the product as…

nothing went wrong with the product as such its just
my main gripe is that with all three stanley fatmax drills i have purchased none of the batteries are interchangeable and if i had know this before i
started buying only one make i would have bought dewalt as all there batteries are interchangeable.

Frustrating experience with Stanley outdoor product

I bought Stanley line trimmer curve shaft 4 stroke motor 26cc and had been used lightly around 3 years (hardly use in winter time and during summer time only using once every 2-3 weeks). Recently I got the shaft broken (this never happened to other brand I've ever used before) and the worst and nightmare to get the replacement parts. The retailers were not helpful to sort the problems, I visited independent lawn mower tools repairers and service they also cannot help.

Stanley v20 hammer drill and orbital sander

I got the Stanley fatmax v20 hammer drill and orbital sander the sander is couple months over the 1 year warranty and the hammer drill is a just coming up to a month over both packed up hammer drill last week and the sander today was happy with them until this I have used the hammer drill 7 times never overworked light use so thought I had a bad one but for the sander to stop the same and only used it for the second time today and do exactly the same really not impressed would not recommend them to anyone just put the extra and go makita which I should of only reason I went Stanley is because of all the reviews saying they are good decent tools which now with what happened and researching more into them really don’t believe that’s true

Purchased a Stanley Fatmax cordless…

Purchased a Stanley Fatmax cordless drill with 2 batteries on 03.05.2023. Got home and tried to use my product few days later. Tried charging batteries and one battery was completely dead. Contacted Stanley and the only thing they could do is give me £20 for a £40 battery claiming that they can not just replace the said battery. After a long time on the phone I decided I could live with just one battery so took the £20.
I then registered the drill for the 3 year guarantee and used the drill 6 or 7 times. The 10mm drill bit is stuck in the chuck and I can't get it out.
I again spent 10 minutes on the phone to Stanley to be told this is not covered in the guarantee.
Absolutely ridiculous - poor quality products and poor customer service will never by Stanley or Black & Decker products again.

Faulty Stanley tools and poor customer service

I was always drawn to Stanley when it came to reliability and price with there products,however on this incident with my few month old tool grips coming off and nearly injuring me as it happened I contacted customer support and like previously mentioned comments I had to jump through many hoops without a conclusion or replacement which is very disappointing to me but a lesson learnt for my next tool purchased.

Stanley 600 amp battery jump

Stanley 600 amp battery jump. Brand new tried to use for first time. Lights up like it's charging but turns off as soon as you unplug. No light no phone charge no battery jump. POS. Never buying Stanley products again.

Customer Service!! What service? Zero service!

Customer Service!!! They have no idea what those two simple words mean. I made a mistake in the first place in buying some battery operated Stanley tools. My fault! Never again. Apparently the products come with an automatic 12 month warranty but can be easily extended by completing the purchase details within 7 days of purchase. All done as instructed. Now less than 18 months later, guess what? Not covered by warranty. It took the customer service department through their wonderful email system 10 days to get all the information they wanted from me. First email, what date did you purchase it? second email what was the product, third email what is wrong with the product, fourth email and so it goes on. Their response time as a customer service department is atrocious, but what do they care. Finally on day 11 they said that it is not covered. What a load of boloney. They wear you out with dragging a simple problem out for weeks. Is it really worth trying to claim under warranty? It's simply not worth the time and effort. You can't get to speak to anyone, they won't call you on the phone. Is it worth buying a Stanley tool, As long as it stays fault free yes. If you have a problem with it then its best throw it in the bin with a customer service department so bad it just isn't worth the hassle. Next purchase is DeWalt, no questions at all.

Stanley Power Cleaner - Buy any other, not this junk

Bought a Stanley Power Cleaner which turned out to be appalling. The connection between hose and gun is exceptionally badly designed, and since struggling with mine I've been told by two different builders that you have to tape the joint with the stanley cleaners to make them work. The company makes good tools normally, but this experience has made me doubt if their commitment to making good tools is genuine at all. No decent manufacturer would put rubbish like this in the marketplace.
