The Solicitors Regulation Authority is…
The Solicitors Regulation Authority is unfit for purpose. As a former legal profession person Kier Starmer needs to rid the country of this biased company which protects only its members and not the public!
The UK is the wild west of law and order…
The SRA have failed to reinvestigate the fraud perpetuated by my conveyancer. Questions need to be answered by the SRA and its failure to uphold the Rule of Law its primary mandate. It appears the SRA is being corrupted by accepting licensing fees from the very profession it is mandated by the Legal Services Act 2007 to regulate a bit like receiving a defecation sandwich from Gordon Ramsay who claims because he eats well his byproduct is gourmet. The Legal Profession in the UK needs serious outside regulation from an independent body set up with fees from clients not Solicitors or Lawyers who have serious knowledge and financial advantages when misconduct is perpetuated on clients which if you read trust pilot reviews is never ending bringing UK fairness and justice into serious question The UK is the wild west of law and order
Corruption reigns in UK
Nothing was done by SRA about the theft of my house by Sols. Ingram Winter Green and Bude Nathan Iwanier and other corrupt parties including those representing Justice at RCJ. A party represented by above obtained Council property with FRAUDULENT paperwork all over London, I believe. His name is Nathan Teitelbaum. A barrister ( Marie Claire Bleasdale) lied in Court. Let them show their innocence. ( They cannot). Little people suffer in this Country. Note. Perjurer Bleasdale still working and smirking at Radcliffe Chambers. Just to add, BNI Sols. ( above) been taken to RCJ for their nefarious dealings with a gentlemen in his 90's. Had to settle with him out of court. ( £1m?). They are apparently closing down now. Ha ha ha, I down, 1 to go. IWG Sols.( above), are money launderers with N. Teitelbaum with regard to housing purchase matters. Enabled by RBS bank. Does it ever end? The paper trail of fraud? No. Do these scum care? Just continue crawling out from slimy stones and muck heaps where they live and pretend to be human when someone shows them a scam.
Open Letter to the Solicitors Regulation Authority: A Call for Accountability and Reform
Having dealt with you personally, it's abundantly clear that your organisation is fundamentally unfit for purpose. You claim to regulate the legal profession, uphold justice, and protect the public, yet operate like an incompetent sheriff in a chaotic town—drunk, incapable, and indifferent. My grievances, backed by credible evidence, were dismissed, and I'm far from alone in experiencing this disgraceful treatment.
This letter follows my previous critiques such as ‘The SRA and Trustpilot: A Troubling View of Legal Regulation’ and ‘Enforcement Action Against the Solicitors Regulation Authority’. Time and again, you demonstrate an inability or unwillingness to fulfil your role effectively. The Axiom Ince scandal is just another in a long list of regulatory failures that mock your mission to safeguard justice.
1. Axiom Ince Crisis
Your reactive approach led to Axiom Ince’s collapse despite warnings and evidence of breaches. The Legal Services Board concluded that your response was neither adequate, effective, nor efficient—clear dereliction of duty.
2. Conflicts of Interest
Your investigators often come from or aspire to roles within the firms they regulate. This revolving door fosters regulatory capture, compromising independence. Your funding structure also relies on those you regulate, creating significant conflicts of interest.
3. Lack of Transparency
Your lack of transparency on affiliations such as Freemasonry fuels mistrust and suggests conflicts of interest. Refusing clear disclosure policies perpetuates distrust.
4. Inconsistent Enforcement
You fail to enforce the Code of Conduct consistently, allowing breaches to go unpunished and eroding public confidence. Justifying these failures with hollow explanations only further damages your credibility.
5. Weak Anti-Money Laundering Oversight
Your track record on AML is inadequate. For instance, VKM Solicitors received a mere £4,932 fine for over a decade of failings—signalling that wrongdoers have nothing to fear from you.
6. Corruption Allegations
Unaddressed allegations of corruption and favouritism damage public trust. Your reluctance to investigate shows a culture of evasion rather than accountability.
7. Flawed Dispute Resolution
Entrusting regulatory reviews to CEDR without oversight suggests an inability or refusal to ensure independence, compounding your failures.
8. Public Perception and Trust
Negative feedback on platforms like this paints a picture of an organisation lacking efficacy and integrity. The volume of criticism speaks for itself—you have lost public trust.
A Call for Immediate Reform
The time for superficial reflection has passed. Immediate and substantive action is required to restore credibility:
- Revise Funding: Reform the funding model to eliminate conflicts of interest.
- End Conflicts of Interest: Prevent revolving door practices and ensure impartiality.
- Enhance Transparency: Public deserves to know who influences your decisions.
- Enforce Code Consistently: Apply the Code uniformly across all professionals.
- Strengthen AML Enforcement: Proper enforcement is crucial; current leniency is unacceptable.
- Investigate Corruption: Address allegations transparently.
- Reassess Partnerships: Ensure independence in all regulatory processes.
- Engage Public Concerns: Be accountable, address feedback, and improve.
Your repeated failures undermine the integrity of the legal profession and public confidence in justice. Reform or step aside in favour of a body capable of upholding justice. Enough is enough—the public deserves a regulator that truly regulates, not one that hides behind bureaucracy.
Yours sincerely,
John Barwell
The owner/solicitor of a South West…
The owner/solicitor of a South West London law firm has been reported to the SRA Investigations team on three separate occasions. This particular solicitor was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2022 and has shown an inability to manage his business, which is in financial distress, going against the SRA rules. Despite these concerns, the SRA has allowed this solicitor to continue practicing after three superficial investigations. Each time, the SRA’s approach has been minimal—they simply write to the the solicitor asking if he believes he’s fit to practice and if his finances are in order, without conducting any meaningful investigation or proper evidence such as an independent medical report and audited accounts prepared by an independent external firm of accountants. This process fails to uncover the reality of his mental capacity and financial issues. It is truly alarming and highlights the inadequacy of the SRA. I plan to raise this matter with my MP.
we need minus ratings
we need minus ratings: my life has been destroyed and my home stolen because Paul Philip refuses to investigate the CONFESSED TO criminal conduct of the law firms like WITHERS LLP he is supposed to regulate: Paul Philip is ultimately responsible for ruining so many lives: may he finally be held accountable.
Can't we have a 0 rating or -1 rating…
Can't we have a 0 rating or -1 rating category?
The SRA and most Complaints organisations - Social Work England (SWE) ; Local Authorities; and most Government bodies are completely whitewash corrupted bodies and rubber-stamping entities! They are all worthless and should never exist. When you make complaints about say corrupted solicitors that violates ethical standards with glaring evidence to support their various tactics of delays, reaping people off with work claimed for but not done or even the worst - when performed woefully in a litigation work - these bastardos win always by laughing - literally to the bank! The most brazenly crooked of them all will do this withimpunity and bribe their ways to the higher echelon of the dodgy SRA structure. So what is the incentive for these narcissitically corrupted sons and daughters of the devil to stop creaming the masses off? Nothing! No deterrent whatsoever....SRA is a sham outfit and they should be shutdown!
Awful and no help whatsoever
Awful and no help whatsoever. They ignore facts given to them about unscrupulous solicitors and contradict themselves to protect their own. Complete waste of time.
Raise a petition for corrupt Solicitors
I suggest we raise a petition to safeguard the general public against rouge solicitors to bring down a whole network of corrupt solicitors, who use the law to make money and take advantage of the general vulnerable public. These people need to be regulated and bought to justice.
Solicitors Regulation Authority
Solicitors Regulation Authority. Not fit for purpose.
This organisation is not fit to regulate solicitors nor investigate rouge legal firms. 99% of complaints are not investigated so don't waste your time complaining.
The Department for Justice needs to review this organisation and in particular the funding and where this funding goes.
"The Incompetence and Bias of the Solicitors Regulation Authority: A Shocking Failure in Upholding Justice"
I recently had an exceedingly disappointing experience with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Engaging with this organization has only deepened my concerns about its effectiveness and competence. Despite presenting them with clear, indisputable evidence that my solicitor had acted unlawfully, the SRA's response was completely underwhelming.
The investigator I was assigned, a woman who seemed to prioritize her own narrative over factual inquiry, was particularly insufferable. From the onset, she dismissed my concerns, and it became evident that her intention was not to seek the truth but to defend the solicitor. She boasted about her previous experience in these matters, which ironically only highlighted her bias and unwillingness to consider the evidence at hand.
Throughout the process, I felt unheard and disregarded. The SRA's role is to ensure that solicitors operate within the law and uphold professional conduct; however, this interaction has left me questioning their ability to fulfill this critical function. My experience with the SRA has exposed a significant and concerning level of incompetence and partiality within their ranks.
Waste of time
Time wasters! There is a clear evidence the solicitor has acted unethically, yet they rejected my application for compensation fund..
Slowly Reducing Administration (SRA)
Some as the previous 28 posts. Why des the SRA exist = Slowly Reducing Administration (by not answering genuine solicitors failures) = reducing daily costs / expenditure (unskilled staff) = low subscription fees (£) for their clients being solicitors. Brilliant Ponzi type scheme (compares to BITCOIN)
Total waste of time
Total waste of time - they don't remotely look into the complaints made even when clearly breaching rules. Seems I'm not the only one who feels that way either.
Useless, useless, useless.
Close it down
In my opinion the SRA is a toothless, ineffective body that did not take our complaint seriously in anyway. The responses were patronising and irritating.
I spent a long time putting my complaint together and to save time provided lots of Annexes. The first response was along the following lines “we don’t have the resources to read what you have sent, send us a summary and we might have a read” . A summary was then sent. Despite me highlighting numerous breaches of the SRA codes of conduct, the SRA were just not interested and considered all the points raised as “poor service” and of no interest from a Regulatory perspective and said it was the remit of the Legal Ombudsman. I had already pointed out I had already made a submission to the Legal Ombudsman, (who now take 2 years to even assess if they will even investigate). The legal system when things go wrong is clearly broken.
In our case we pointed out our Solicitors failure to follow the requirements set out in one of the SRAs own warning notices “investment schemes, including Conveyancing” updated 17th August 2020 and first published 23 June 2017. Despite highlighting all the “requirements” on Solicitors set out in this Warning notice, that were not done, the SRA were not interested. This Warning notice was brought to our attention by a new Legal Adviser we were forced to employ, when our Solicitor abandoned us claiming a “ conflict of interest” . When asked what this reason was they replied “ I thought you would ask me that and legally we don’t have to tell you” The warning notice has a heading of “Enforcement” and states “Failure to comply, with this warning notice is likely to lead to disciplinary action” sounds good but means nothing, in reality. When I first read this I naively thought it would mean something, it doesn’t.
The patronising response I received included the line I’ve read in other reviews about there needs to be a pattern as they don’t investigate individual cases. I replied to ask how does a pattern ever emerge if they never investigate individual cases and when complaints are struck in the Legal Ombudsman pipe line for over 2 years. I obviously never got a response to this question.
Like others have been told, if I was to take the Solicitors to court and win, then they might be interested in investigating further.
Making a complaint to the SRA, in my opinion is a complete waste of time and energy. I had read all the previous reviews about this organisation before making my complaint, but felt I should at least try.
I will be making efforts to shine a light on this organisation by writing to my MP and seeing if any media outlet is prepared to write a piece on the effectiveness and point of this Regulatory body. I suspect Solicitors love the way they operate. The Solicitors I used have been featured in several “Legal Futures” articles (not in a good way), appeared at a 2019 Solicitor Disciplinary Tribunal, where a Solicitor got struck off, and 2 others were fined, but it doesn’t form a pattern (apparently).
I feel sorry for people reading reviews on here, because most likely you have had a bad experience with the Legal Profession and are considering your options for getting some justice. If this is you, I wish you the best of luck as the odds are stacked against you.
Only Here To Protect Solicitors
If this is the authority to report rogue Solicitors to then there is clearly no proper justice in this country.
I have had a dreadful experience with a lawyer who has broken just absolutely everyone one of their rules & acted illegally. The man is an aggressive bully who will undoubtedly try anything he can do against me once I submit my complaint.
I have emailed the SRA three times now asking for assurances that he cannot sue me if I submit a complaint. Every reply they have given makes it clear that they haven't bothered to read my email & have so far, refused to answer the question.
As a result this vile Solicitor will carry on messing up other peoples lives unhindered. What other profession can act like this?
The SRA need to be shut down & replaced with a proper independent body to protect the public.
I asked where is form showing legal aid…
I asked where is form showing legal aid application from sra. They said ask solicitor. I asked solicitor, they fail to reply. Because the form is fraudulently filled, I have limited proof, but no one shows the form.
Legal aid is allowed for family law due to social engineering. And sra and solicitors are turning a blind eye to it and allowing legal aid for people who can't speak English and make hearsay claims of violence and getting barristers to represent them in court to tell the other parent, that they have rights to restrict the other parent from seeing their children. Plus legal aid helps with divorce too. They milk the system and string it out so it taking 3 years so far and I'm not legally allowed to see my own child. No where in law is there a time limit to see your children...it is criminal and modern day slavery for them to do this and allow this under the umbrella of law
Total waste these investigators are I…
Total waste these investigators are I supplied them with all the evidence that a law firm did not contact the defendant in a data breach which has gone on for ages the defendant denys any contact and this is a government building after supplying the evidence from the defendant the investigator made up some story that they haven't done nothing wrong as the case wasn't going to be successful because of the defendant and NO response from the claim there wasn't any response because the law firm didn't contact them to make an claim in the first place all the evidence was submitted including information from SAR requests and the investigating person at SRA still said they haven't done anything wrong and was closing the case. More evidence submitted awaiting response as of 29/7/24 these people are more corrupted than the actual law firms
