South African shop Swindon are expensive!!
Okay don’t know we’re to start . Well I spend £87 in the shop today and look at the prices. Shocking prices after they move to new shop and believe they are over price in all they stock and biltong . I just ask my sister to look for me how much they pay for 1kg biltong and droe wors -Rand R919 for a kg and in South Africa only R313 for kg .i can get 3kg from South Africa for the price they charge and pay small amount for postage with DPD . It take a week to get to uk and stop paying stupidly prices for food that we want to bring a bit of Africa back ! Even they own biltong they make are expensive, this is not trying to breaking your reputation I just speak my mind .

In defence of the shop you are referring to though you say 3 times more expensive than South Africa. That would be because you are not in South Africa. You can only compare apples with apples.
The UK minimum labour rate is close on £12.50 a hour. That is R300 and hour. That is 10 times higher than South Africa. Meat prices in general are close on 3 times more than South Africa too, if you haven't noticed while shopping. And that is just the start. Please do your math then check again.
The truth is Butchers is South Africa make a higher net those in UK because of the high costs in England. As mentioned just to start labour cost is TEN TIMES more per hour.
Lastly as a tip. It is illegal to ship meat products from South Africa to England, so no you cannot do that, but I am not going to get into legislation now.

Both have been a bit dry the last time I have been to witney and Swindon. The Swindon one used to be lovely is there anyway you can do the wet chutney one again that was lovely and I aways get it ever week

Hi Leigh. You are more than welcome to ask any of the staff to make your batch specific after trying a sample, ie ask for more spice or chutney. We try balance out to an average pallet where some have complained about to much sticky chutney. As I say you are more than welcome to call before hand and request or whilst in store and the staff will assist. Both stores will be fine with this. Insist on a sample first

Sadly not impressed. Bought some sweeties for a SA friend of mine for a silly b'day present. 1 item out of stock, fine, but the chocolate came melted (it had been melted and solidified again and bumpy in the wrapper) and the marshmallows were all cracked, looked awful and had just 2 weeks left on them before out of date. I wrote to the company to express the disappointment and they couldn't be bothered to write back. I can't really give these things now as a, damaged or out of date and b, what's left isn't enough. Wasted of money (and £7.20 postage!!), time tbh, the only good thing is that the goods came quickly, time hopefully enough for me to try elsewhere.

In response to yours. I never asked for a refund, I didn't want a refund and to suggest this is untrue and grasping at straws to discredit my experience. I sent a photo of marshmallows and you ignored it when the photo showed my feedback to be true. I find you to be aggressive.
Buyer beware, this is how they handle complaints.

Please note that per your first email received on 23 July 2025 in this regard you stated “the marshmallows have less than a month on them” – Now per your Trust Pilot Review a day after you state “had just 2 weeks left on them before out of date” when in actual fact the product was produced on 24/10/2024 Imported to the UK and was delivered to you with a stamped Best Before date of 24/08/2025. More than 1 month still – beyond your initial less than a month email, and more than your exaggerated Trust Pilot Review. As per our T&C we are the only store to guarantee a 7 days BB date on arrival – as stated on purchase as well as order confirmation. The product was way in excess of this and way in excess of your stated two weeks per your own email received. IRO the chocolates as pointed out to you – you bough an Australian version as this is the legal equivalent in the UK and not the South African version – hence the difference in appearance – with the Australian Melting point the chocolate could not have melted during transit – needless to say they were refunded to you in good faith. Unfortunately we do not entertain refunds for items that are way in excess of our T&C’ s irrespective of the value – in this instance only £2,09 – this was not refunded due to your blatant misstatements on your emails as well as your falsified Trustpilot review to initiate refunds.

Please can you provide an order number or confirmation as we cannot trace any orders from you under your full name & surname, nor any order under your surname Marais with wors on the order. Once we receive this we can address your issue, or see if you have reviewed the correct shop. If this is the case the 1 star is certainly warranted, and can look at addressing further.

Walked into the shop and was greeted with the most beautiful smile from the lady serving who said welcome please ask for any help you need.
I was totally blown away by the variety of South African goods available. Easy to locate in the store amazing.
At the check out I had to use two cards as I was paying for two different people the lady was so patient and accommodating to my every need for bags packing etc. She never rushed me
To my surprise i was given loads of boxes of curry powders spices etc as a gift for shopping at the Swindon South African Spaza Shop Ltd x
And even free drinks for my drive home.
The best shopping experience ever I can't wait to get stuck into my goods the biltong boerwors crisps etc etc.
Thank you so much for the fantastic service and I will return. I highly recommend this south african shop in Swindon to all.

Customer service just WOW-Excellent
I placed a order quite late in an attempt to make my husbands birthday special. All my fault, I emailed Steven and explained the situation and within minutes he responded that they getting the order out to me to arrive on time. Cant beat such service
