AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID – Our experience with Soudley Park Kennels has ended with solicitors pursuing us for veterinary fees they agreed in writing to pay
I rarely leave reviews like this, but after months of trying to resolve this privately, I believe prospective customers should know about our experience with Soudley Park Kennels.
We purchased an English Bulldog puppy from Soudley Park Kennels in 2025. Our puppy was found to have a serious congenital heart condition and ultimately required specialist heart surgery.
We agreed to continue caring for him on the clear understanding that Soudley Park Kennels would be responsible for the cost of the required surgery.
This was not simply a verbal promise. We have a signed written agreement confirming responsibility for the surgery.
Our dog underwent heart surgery on 13 March 2026.
Despite the written agreement, when the surgery took place we were put in the position of having to provide a substantial payment ourselves because the required money had not been made available. After considerable chasing and delay, that money was eventually reimbursed.
However, approximately £3,000 of the veterinary bill remained outstanding.
For months afterwards, we were repeatedly assured that this balance was being dealt with. We were informed that an instalment arrangement had been made and received written confirmation concerning that arrangement.
We relied on those assurances and believed the matter was finally being resolved.
We have now received correspondence from solicitors pursuing the outstanding veterinary debt because the veterinary account is in my wife’s name.
What I found particularly upsetting was a WhatsApp message I subsequently received from Donna in which she said words to the effect that she should have had the dog put down.
After everything this dog has been through, and after we have cared for him and ensured he received the specialist treatment he needed, I found that comment absolutely appalling.
Soudley Park Kennels publicly describes itself as being dedicated to raising happy, healthy dogs and providing ongoing support to puppy families. Our personal experience has unfortunately been very different.
We have spent months attempting to resolve this privately and have given numerous opportunities for the outstanding veterinary costs to be dealt with.
We have now issued Soudley Park Kennels with a FINAL FORMAL NOTICE – Outstanding Veterinary Fees and Breach of Agreement and given a final deadline for the matter to be resolved.
We have retained the signed agreement, veterinary documentation, invoices, payment records, WhatsApp conversations and other written correspondence relating to what has happened.
Our dog’s welfare has always been our priority. Having a puppy requiring major heart surgery was difficult enough without months of chasing agreed payments, receiving solicitor correspondence regarding the unpaid veterinary balance and then receiving a comment suggesting that the dog should have been put down.
I strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing a puppy does their own research, asks for evidence of relevant health testing and gets every commitment made by a breeder in writing.
Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Soudley Park Kennels.
