I wasted several hours trying to get my energy supplier switched.
A Smarter Business employee (Luke S.) gave me the prices for the Standing Charge – 40p and the Unit Rate – 22p at British Gas.
I agreed to everything, then had to submit all my details, complete a credit check, and go through the entire procedure.
I was so surprised when I received my electricity contract, but as it turned out, the price for the standing charge suddenly increased by 50% without any reason or information from the contracting party, and the price for the unit rate also increased slightly, and I ended up with a different supplier without any information about these matters. I understand everything, but something like this isn't normal. When I mentioned it, the employee started acting offended and started threatening me that he didn't have to do anything for me and that helping me was embarrassing. Wanting to cheat a sick elderly person? I don't know what to call it, but I'll refrain from commenting on it further. Everyone knows what it is. I decided to contact the person above this employee. It turned out to be Ikshaan K., Senior Account Manager. At least, that's what the first employee had said. As it quickly turned out, the person, completely clueless, started making senseless attempts to circumvent what had happened. He started suggesting errors and mistakes. To which I replied that nothing was an error or mistake because there was email proof of everything. No one even tried to apologize or constructively explain anything. It's simply embarrassing how they're scamming people these days. This is a red flag. Beware of such practices so no one gets hurt!!!
I have been using Smarter Business since 2020 to source best rates for gas and electric for my business. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. More recently I have been dealing with Brad Jacobs who has provided a great service and also been very helpful with resolving any issues. Many thanks to Brad and the team. Jackie
