Title: Avoid these incompetent charlatans. Paid £2,000+ for ZERO calls and a website they took down.
I hired Search for Local back in 2025 to build a website, and the entire experience was an absolute joke. From the start, they tried to razzle-dazzle me with big technical jargon and constant talk about "algorithms" just to shut down my questions. When I asked them to lay it out in layman's terms and told them, "Look, I don't mind paying, but you need to be making me money first and getting traffic to my account," they just repeatedly fobbed me off with: "Oh, it'll take time. Oh, it'll take time."
Whenever I phoned up to challenge them, the woman on the other end didn't know her head from her tail. She couldn't answer basic questions, panicked, tried to shut me down with more "algorithm" nonsense, and kept saying, "Can I phone you back in 10 minutes?" absolute amateurs.
Fast forward 18 months: I have not received one single phone call or job lead from their expensive website.
To top it off, they completely took my website down and held it to ransom, demanding ongoing "maintenance fees" to update a dead site that never brought in a single bit of work. Meanwhile, the free business page I set up myself on Google has generated plenty of organic traffic and actual job leads.
How these people can take down a site I paid over £2,000 for because I refuse to pay update fees for something that isn't working is beyond me. Save your money, cut these wolves out of the equation, and get a free website. Better yet, just use a free AI builder like Durable or paste AI code into Netlify—it does exactly what they do, instantly, and without the ridiculous price tag.

I approached Search4local, Nicola Dhillon and Angus Burton have both been absolutely amazing. So I'm not hugely technically minded and being a brand new start up business, the advise, support and experience of them both has been brilliant. Ty have both gone above and beyond on helping me shape my site, emails and marking strategy, right down to the look feel of my site and functionality of my gorgeous website. I had a vision and they just got it, right from the off. It was built ahead of the promised time frame and I was given a lot of time for editing in partnership with the team.

Nicola you've been so insightful and attentive and nothing was out of bounds to ensure success for me. I genuinely feels like have cheerleaders behind scenes doing everything they can to help my success. It really clear your are an expert in your field and brought so much knowledge and expertise and you've educated me in how best to use the website, digital marketing and navigating key needs on indexing to draw in Meta recognised content maximisation.

Angus, you were really communicative and always made sure the brief was brilliantly delivered too. I am categorically clear I would n have got this far without you guys and I cannot thank you enough. I am beyond chuffed given the price being so moderate, and to get full technical support beyond the build is so reassuring and will allow me to focus on my business and its growth and not all the digital and website side.

I’m glad I didn’t give Dan the usual hang up tone when he contacted me over a year ago. At that time I was at my whits end with yell. Dan has always supported my ideas and changes and is doing so today as my business is launching a new sector.

They have delivered so far on everything I’ve asked and needed.

If you want it to work, don’t be afraid. Go for it. Tell them what you want. You’ll get it.

Had a website built 3 to 4 months ago which as their advertising says will generate work. I’ve had one phone call in three months I used to be with yell and I’m telling you now I wish I would’ve stayed with them because at least my phone was ringing absolute waste of time and money trying to get my money back for the website. If you’re thinking of using these guys personally I wouldn’t bother.

Very happy with the company and my account manager Julian in particular. I've been with them about 18 months and it's been a pleasant experience. Julian took the time to understand both my business and me and has always been friendly and professional, making sure I understand the options available, working within my budget. The results are improving month by month and I'm happy so far. I can recommend them.

My experience with Search4Local has been extremely disappointing and concerning. Communication has been poor throughout, issues with my website have remained unresolved for extended periods, and obtaining clear information or support has been unnecessarily difficult.

The most serious issue is that I currently do not have proper access or control over my website domain despite repeated requests for assistance. This has caused disruption to my business and unnecessary stress.

In my opinion, businesses should ensure that clients retain transparent ownership and access to their domains and website assets at all times. Unfortunately, this has not been my experience here. Based on the service I have received, I would not recommend this company.

Well what can I say - Not very happy, we are a small company and have spent thousands with Search4local over the past 6 years, but now we no longer want to spend all that money and are going to be downsizing they throw us under a bus - want money to transfer then (I have no idea with techo stuff) and when I ask them for help to transfer our website to another company the only answer you get - is see you new host!!!

Search4local have been very good at building my online presence and creating new business from online enquiries. I used the IT services this week and they were very professional, competent and eager to help. Special thanks to Julie Widdall who initially got me set up with Search4local and has been my contact since. Always quick to respond to any messages and very good at her job.

I would be very careful using this company, do you remember yell.com of old where all they are interested in is signing you up on 12 month contracts……
We had been with these guys since 2022 right up until the last few days, spent in the region of 90k with them on google ads, the website, ongoing SEO etc. Our company is GSS Security & Electrical (Midlands) ltd.
The last year the results really went Stale. I constantly went to our local rep with our findings and lack of calls/emails for the large monthly sum we were paying. Putting all that aside, I cannot believe how this company have been when I informed them we were moving on elsewhere as I felt our business needed a change. They automatically renewed our ongoing hosting, ‘review package’ when I didn’t consent. They are now demanding these fees be paid as it’s part of their contract so they will now try and charge us for a website that doesn’t exist which clearly shows what type of company they are about! They want to charge us still for ongoing monthly SEO when there isn’t a website to work on! Be careful of google ads too, as they create their own branded Search4local reports so who knows where your monthly spend goes? You should be having genuine reports direct from google and pay these companies a fee for managing it ! Debt collection company now pending for monthly seo and hosting on a website that doesn’t exist anymore, clear proof this company is only interested in the pennies! They must forget the 30k I’ve spent with them in the last 12 months alone. My advice, stick to local, and think twice about signing these contracts!!!!

Search4Local have been running my website since April 2025. I've been dealing with Nick Tudge who has been great through the whole process, and understands what my goals are for the website.
The transfer process from my old site that I was running myself to the new one was seamless. There has been a dip in traffic as was expected after the transfer, but as time goes on the new site appears to be performing well and I'm getting good quality leads.
They do offer different level packages for SEO, content etc, which are explained but I've not felt like I'm getting the hard sell which I have had from other similar companies in the past. All in all, if you are looking to have a professional website built and have no clue where to start, give these guys a go :)
