DO NOT BUY! Absolutely disgusting!

Extremely disappointed with both the product and the after-sales service.

I purchased a sofa in September 2023 and noticed a strong chemical odour from the furniture shortly after delivery. At the time, I was advised that this was normal "off-gassing" and would improve over time.

Unfortunately, the odour has persisted and, during recent hot weather, became significantly stronger. The smell appears to be coming from the internal foam and cushion filling rather than the outer fabric. In my experience, it is strong enough to fill the room and has caused coughing, headaches, dizziness and respiratory irritation.

I contacted the company again to raise my concerns, particularly as I suffer from asthma and the symptoms have become increasingly difficult to ignore. However, I was informed that, due to the time that has passed since delivery, they were unable to determine that the issue related to a manufacturing defect and would not offer the remedies I requested.

I also queried whether the sofa had ever been ex-display, refurbished or previously owned. The company stated that their records show the furniture was supplied as new and delivered directly from the manufacturer.

What has disappointed me most is the lack of investigation into the issue itself. Despite the ongoing odour and the impact it has had on my use of the sofa, the matter was closed with a final response and no resolution.

I appreciate that others may have different experiences, but based on my own experience I would have serious reservations about purchasing from this company again.

Thank you for your comments.

As all of our customers are given 30 days from receipt of there delivery to report any concerns with there furniture i can see you had made to contact with us regarding a odour from the furniture.

As the furniture has been within the home for two years before this is being reported this is something we would proceed further. As contact as been made into us from yourself over the last two years this concern regarding odour we would expect this to been reported into us alot soon. Please refer to our final response.

Honestly the nicest sales team

Honestly the nicest sales people in the Luton store. They give you the space to wonder around but are there for any questions with no pressure. Went across the road to another sofa store and the sales people were sitting on the sofas on their phones not wanting to help. The difference was huge between the 2 and it made me want to come back and look again so definitely happy to post a positive review.

We visited your store in Luton. We were greeted Ciao by your salesperson Harman. She was very helpful as we asked questions. A day later when the order was placed she was equally helpful. I can’t default her service to us.

2 visits to Luton Hatters Way

2 visits. I to browse, 2nd to order 2 sofas.
First time Nathan the Manager assisted me. Excellent experience. Very knowledgeable. Not at all pushy which pleased me.
2nd, I was greeted and helped by the Asst Manager. Pleasant lady and I placed my order with her.
Order anticipated in 13 weeks. I'm sorry it isn't a little sooner.
Can't enter 2 dates below! 2nd one was 05/05/26.

The furniture we ordered arrived the…

The furniture we ordered arrived the day you said, and all is well. however your tracking system leaves a lot to be desired. 1 we were told it would arrive between 10am /3pm.Ok. at 6.30am the next day we were told it would arrive between 12.10pm /12.35. although we checked nothing changed. It finally arrived about 3.15.

An excellent shopping experience.

The store looked very welcoming when I got there - airy, light, well laid out and uncluttered. I was greeted by a very pleasant lady named Shahida. She asked me what I was looking for, explained how it worked and left me to browse, but was never far away if I had any questions. I was very impressed by the range and quality of the furniture on offer and the way in which it was displayed over the two floors. There was no hurry or pressure. When I'd decided on what I wanted she was very helpful concerning colours, fabrics etc and completed the order quietly and efficiently, after making me a very welcome cup of tea. Altogether a very pleasant shopping experience.

Friendly helpful staff

A positive experience in store and…

A positive experience in store and happy with sofa which ess successfully delivered. However since delivery i have had multiple text messages about a delivery date for goods I havent ordered. Have spoken to 3 people about it and it still goes on. A frustrating and time consuming experience

They were very good communicators

They were very good communicators, it was a quick sale, and straight forward. The sofas are very nice and it was a quick delivery. I knew the time they were arriving, the drivers were friendly, professional and did the job well.

In store was fine, delivery not great

In store was fine, staff was very accommodating. Delivery has been cancelled once and was told it would be here by another day. After speaking with the depot they hadn’t even put the delivery on the Tuesday round. After spending so much money and picking an express delivery, was quite disappointed that I am still yet to receive the sofa after two weeks.

Very disappointing experience with ScS

I ordered a sofa from ScS on 11 January, and it has now been 11 weeks with no delivery, no update, and no proper communication. When we bought the sofa, the salesman clearly told us it would be delivered within 8 to 10 weeks, which was a key reason we went ahead with the purchase.
Since then, I have chased this up twice, and each time I was simply told that I would be updated when it is ready. No one has contacted us proactively, and there is still no confirmed delivery date. We have been without a sofa for almost three months, which has been extremely inconvenient.
What makes this even more frustrating is that we are now unable to cancel the order. The lack of communication and failure to meet the promised delivery time has left us very unhappy, and I would not recommend purchasing from ScS unless you are prepared for long delays.
Before ordering, make sure you get clear, written confirmation of delivery times, as they do not deliver early and may not stick to what is promised in-store.
