First Photobook
This was my first photobook project. Saal customer service was helpful and quick to respond to my questions. the online design app was relatively easy to use even without any experience. Turn around time and shipping were super fast. Quality of the books is very good. I really like the lay flat feature, which works well and allows great design layout flexibility.
The cost was higher than other sites I looked at, and since this the only book I've done I don't have anything to compare it to. I chose Saal based on reviews of high quality, good software (+ layflat), and responsive service, all of which I found to be the case, and I'd certainly go with Saal again on any future projects.

One of the best books I have made.
Overall the process of design and the book quality are very very beautiful. I love the soft cover. It feels elegant and luxurious. The paper quality is also really well done.

Saal is 100% the best
I have done many photo books over many years and with different photo book producing companies. From my experience Saal is by a long distance the best.

TIFF files mishandled
I ordered a photo through saal digital laptop app. It didn't handle the TIFF correctly and the photo I got is very greenish

Great prints, but problems with discount codes
Everything works perfectly, and the quality of the prints and photo books is simply amazing.
However, be aware that their discount codes don’t always work, but an email to their customer service does the trick!

Third damaged Print ........
Again, Poor packaging.
Today i have unpacked my third damaged print on Di-Bond.
Every complaint i made on the Saal website contained images and clear description of the problem (Poor packaging)
But here has never been any response from a person asking why they already made and shipped the same print three times.....
Please fix this... I have received bigger prints from various other Print-Labs without damage.

Very high quality
Quality of the printed book is very high. I personally do not like to have pictures on the book binding which is by far the most common template on Saal. I would suggest in the software a filter for templates that do not have any pictures split by the book binding and more templates of this kind.

The photobook came out amazing
The photobook came out amazing. The layflat binding is really good. I went with the matte paper and the pictures look good but not great. The pictures are slightly desaturated from the original but not too much that it ruins the experience.

I really liked the design process using the Saal tool. I've selected the most premium paper possible, but once I got the book, I was a bit underwhelmed. The paper feels like cardboard? Maybe I've not seen the right option, but since I picked the most expensive paper I had other expectations?

Das Fotoalbum ist einfach großartig…
Das Fotoalbum ist einfach großartig geworden. Sehr schnell erledigt. Das einzige Problem bestand bei der Lieferung, da das Lieferunternehmen die Adresse nicht finden konnte. Die Manager von Saal Digital waren jedoch während der gesamten Erstellung und Lieferung des Auftrags behilflich. Recht schnelle Antworten per E-Mail. Die Website zum Erstellen von Fotoalben ist recht praktisch, aber langsam. Das Projekt stürzte oft ab oder Fotos wurden nicht geladen. Aber im Großen und Ganzen bin ich mit dem Ergebnis sehr zufrieden. Die Fotos sind von hoher Qualität und ich bin angenehm überrascht von der Gestaltung des Covers. Dank des Gutscheins konnte ich dieses Unternehmen kennenlernen. Und wenn das Bestelladressenformular so korrigiert ist, dass keine falschen Adressen übersehen werden, werde ich diese Website jedem, den ich kenne, wärmstens empfehlen.

I liked the quick turnaround and the ability/software to create the print work. I did not like the paper selection. It was not clear to me what would be the best paper for images and I believed the coated was. Even though it mentioned silver and gold. I thought this was like the standard of good paper. It turns out I printed on actual silver/cold-coated paper, which I am not quite sure I would have selected for images. I believe Saal could have provided more helpful information on the paper selection including the best recommendations for different intended outcomes and an image example likely would have helped as well.
