From the first idea of a Sri Lankan adventure to the booking, payment, arrival and experiences, Rickshaw were great! We had wonderful time with a great driver and the right balance of adventure and relaxing! David was fabulous with suggesting ideas and amending the trip at the planning stage where required.

Miles has organised for us a bespoke trip to Iceland. Three families, three styles, three different countries with different priorities, arrival times and specific requests for experiencing nature. Icelandic friends who saw the itinerary congratulated us on the choice and confirmed the expectation of a wonderfully unique trip. Helpfulness and patience by the buckets! Thank you.

I recently returned from a holiday in Costa Rica, arranged by Rickshaw Travel, and while there were some fantastic moments, a few aspects could have been better.
Car Hire: The car we rented had a gearbox issue, requiring manual shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. The wipers were also inadequate, leaving smears on the windscreen. The car's Wi-Fi was ineffective, but luckily, we had a local SIM card to rely on.
Accommodations: The accommodations in Fortuna and Monteverde were comfortable, though I expected two double beds instead of a double and a single. The staff and rooms at both locations were lovely.
Itinerary: It would have been helpful if the itinerary included hotel addresses and Google Maps links to ensure we were heading to the correct locations. Including check-in times for the hotels would also be beneficial.

Guide: Jorge, our guide provided by Eco-Lodge Travel, was brilliant and made our experience in Tortuguero National Park truly special.

Samara Pacific Lodge: I was disappointed with the Samara Pacific Lodge. Despite requesting a beachfront hotel, we were 800 meters from a non-swimmable beach and a 3 km drive from a swimmable one. Fortunately, we had a car. The lodge did not provide water or tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms or reception area. We had to wait until 7:30 AM for breakfast to get any coffee or water, as nothing locally opened until 7 AM. The menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was very limited, with repetitive options like pizza, lasagna, or greasy paninis. The staff were not accommodating to requests outside the menu choices. We had to ask for clean towels, which should be provided automatically. The bar was supposed to close at 8:30 PM but often closed at 8 PM, making us feel like an inconvenience when ordering drinks close to closing time. It would have been nice if the staff occasionally walked around the pool to offer drinks and collect empties, but we always had to go to the bar to order, and even then, they sometimes got the order wrong. I would not stay here again.
Overall, we had a lovely holiday. The itinerary was great, and we enjoyed all the excursions. The guides, especially Jorge, were fantastic.
Lastly, I believe I was overcharged by £100, as the initial deposit was not deducted from the final payment. I didn't notice this at the time, or I would have mentioned it.
Thank you, Rickshaw Travel, for arranging a lovely holiday. I would definitely visit Costa Rica again and use your services for future trips to other destinations.

Be warned that whilst Rickshaw Travel were extremely helpful in planning our family holiday in Thailand, they were not helpful when my mother was thrown from the back of a truck and broke both her shoulders.
We were on a trip organised by the hotel, Havana Beach Resort, Koh Phangan, a hotel booked for us by Rickshaw Travel through their local agents, Kiiri travel.
Neither the hotel nor Rickshaw have taken any responsibility for this totally avoidable accident.
My mother had to be repatriated, suffered life changing injuries and ruined what was supposed to be the holiday of a life time.
The Havana Beach Hotel has never responded to any contact made by us and Rickshaw seem to have totally washed their hands of it altogether.
Totally un-acceptable!

Kelly put together a great itinerary for us to tour Costa Rica for a couple of weeks. All went smoothly and we enjoyed the activities. The accommodation was all good, including a treehouse in the rainforest canopy! We liked that Rickshaw support local businesses. Would definitely use Rickshaw again!

We have just returned from a family trip to Thailand- all 13 of us, gathering from different parts of the globe. It was a fantastic holiday, organised by Ella at Rickshaw. She was knowledgable, always upbeat and endlessly patient as we refined the details of our bespoke trip for a three generational group, and her advice turned out to be spot on. The hotels chosen were in excellent locations for families, and all the arrangements with the local agents worked like clockwork. The guides supplied were excellent and it was a really rich family experience. I felt the service offered by Rickshaw was personal and efficient. I would highly recommend them as a company, and would be happy to use them again.

Rickshaw always provide a very professional and prompt service, never need to chase, always get back to you with the information you need before you make the right decision. I have used them for over 10 years, and they are always my 1st port of call for any trip that I am planning

Our Booking agent Paula was knowledgable about Japan. She planned the whole trip for us and everything was arranged. She kept us updated of the booking process and steps. It was an enjoyable trip as every step of the itinerary had been planned and instructions given to us, along with a local Japan agent who was easily contactable. Excellent service!

Ceri put together a great itinerary for our recent trip to Costa Rica. Costa Rica was a fabulous country full of bucket list animals to witness in the wild. We were lucky enough to see Sloths, crocodile, toucans, poison darts frogs, spider monkeys, armadillo, snakes, spiders, acoutis, and lots of other species all in the various hotel grounds (wild). I researched the hotels given so knew what to expect. The only hotel that didn't meet our expectations was shawanda eco lodge as the internet has definitely falsely advertised it. Not rickshaws fault. The hotel was more run down than shown and they use a leaf blower all morning (not eco at all) and into the afternoon and you can't escape the noise as the lodges (which were beautiful) and comfy enough had no windows just mesh (this was lovely in the rain and can hear the hawler monkeys at 5am). Along with the leaf blower which I did ask them to stop the hotel is on a very busy road and that can be heard all day/night. We really enjoyed every location rickshaw/Ceri picked for us, they were all very different. Arrived in San Jose, Tortugero, Puerto Viego, Monteverdi and Arenal Volcano. Some of the transfers took longer then expected and we didn't have any traffic as such. The boat ride to Tortugero took 90mins on way in and 70mins and they were going full speed on way back. I did organise 1 extra private transfer (we had all but q private) on route as I wasn't comfortable in the coach but that's was my preference. Think the equivalent of National express in the UK. Took longer to get to places and do multiple hotel pick ups and drop off. The private transfers in my opinion were 100% worth the money and we're a very reasonable price for the hours travelled. Definitely enquire. There was no traffic on the roads anywhere to be honest so if you want to drive then it's very plausible. We just wanted to relax as the drives are quite long if you're not used to driving that length. Overall a very successful trip. Ecole the agent Rickshaw use on the ground were very good and easily contacted via Wats app, I had to contact them a few times to adapt things due to private transfers and getting food poisoning from an Italian restaurant in Monteverdi on the last day. Rickshaw travel put together a personal itinerary for us to Costa Rica. I discussed with Steve what was important for us and he delivered. Well organised and the trip went like clockwork with just one slight hiccup which was sorted with no issues. I highly recommend them and intend to use their services again

Whilst we haven't yet been on our holiday, we're really happy with our dealings with Rickshaw so far. Their ethics matched ours, and what they offer really appealed, so we had no hesitation entrusting them with our first real adventure - a long trip across Mexico. Communication was really speedy, and they accommodated some very specific requirements with no hesitation. They secured excellent flights, using good airlines and convenient airports. We're literally counting down the days till the adventure begins.

Offered several options with a decent price

We used rickshaw to stitch together a south East Asian teen backpacking adventure. Having used other companies previously we were impressed by great reviews and social conscience.
Initially, things felt a little hands-off, there was no hard sell and no slick brochures / travel documents. I retrospect (although initially a little unsettling!) this is far more environmentally sound and we support wholly. (Especially the lack of huge plastic luggage tags supplied by other companies!).
Rickshaw were supportive and responsive and were flexible with our changing itinerary.
The holiday was superb- the accommodation suggested by rickshaw was comfortable and friendly. The couple of tours we were recommended were excellent.
Their partners in Laos and Thailand (Khiri travel) were superb- we didn’t need to use their support really, but they were available and attentive when a transfer looked touch and go. They were very easy and lovely to communicate with- big shout out to Be from Khiri Travel!
