We signed up to Play.com as a merchant in December 2013, and have to say as a merchant it has been the biggest waste of money. Their systems are not user-friendly and comprise of having to fill out excel spreadsheets to get products listed followed by messing account with yet more spreadsheets. Play then told us if we use a Channel Unity we will be able to automatically upload products from our inventory database. Obviously as nothing had gone to plan up to now this failed and resulted in 2-3 months of constant e-mails and getting nowhere. After three months of getting nowhere I tried to complain just to be told that the start up team are no longer handling my account and that I would have to contact my account manager. This was news to me as we had not been told that we have an assigned account manager and at no point did they contact us. We had to make the first contact and complain to them, not to mention during the three months of trying to get the account set up not once did the start-up team contact us to ask if we needed help, we had to phone them near enough daily and complain to them.
We decided to post a complaint about play and to no surprise we suddenly got a phone call apologizing and asking if we could remove the complaint, in return they extended our account a few months and promised to sort out some free marketing. As we thought at last progress we agreed to remove the complaint, however we are now back at stage 1.
We have paid for Marketing on Play and have received no conversions from it, 6 months in with over 700 listings and 600 of those being unique products we are hardly covering our costs and no surprise they have failed to do the free marketing as promised.
Customers – Please don’t blame the Merchants (sellers), plays system is unfriendly and full of faults and often tells incorrect tails of customers orders.

Be very careful buying from play.com, this is a site where merchants know they will not be pursued for mis-selling and poor business practices, so is it rife with shysters. Play customer service is non-existent, 3 months and waiting for a response to my issue with a seller. Every time the seller responds with lies such as 'a refund was offered' and then play close my case without checking the facts, despite having been sent email correspondence as evidence numerous times.

You should do this everywhere but here especially, ALWAYS use a credit card for purchases over £100, as play will not help you when things go wrong.

Absolutely appalling customer service and their 'fair play' guarantee is a joke.

Wow they are probably the worst online company I've ever ordered from.

Ordered a product which never got dispatched - it just vanished, everything vanished. When I phoned them they said it would be delivered by January, then February, then March, and by June I had written to them to ask what was going on. And then I wrote and phoned again - they said they would deal with it over the phone but never replied to written correspondence. After a year I just gave up - appalling and have never used this company since. Prior to that items arrived damaged and their returns policy made it awkward to return damaged items. I would avoid this company if at all possible. Friends have had similar experiences. AVOID!

I tried to buy a new S5 smartphone and it said there was 15 in stock. I returned to my standing orders later, and the device had ran out of stock and it was now a pre order, so they had took the large amount of money and left me with no item whatsoever.

Also, a few years back I used it to buy an Experia phone which was a disaster in every way.

I use to order here a lot Dvds , Camera etc but notice lately its not Play anymore its sellers ? so if something goes wrong like faulty DVD or missing item its a pain trying to contact seller then play plus the price is nowhere as cheap as it once was I try not to use the site now unless I cannot get item anywhere else .

Not the best prices, but the free shipping makes it worth it. Never had any problems there.

Ordered no problem, it took a little while to be dispatched a bit longer than i expected but on the whole happy - will use again :)

Never been disappointed

Play is always my first port of call. Fabulous choice, great prices, prompt delivery and reliable service - brilliant :-)

I've no idea what has happened to Play but the service is bizarre these days. I have an order which cannot be processed and cannot be cancelled (it seems to be impossible to cancel a pending order). The supplier is unable to cancel, and Play won't respond to e-mails. Shocking service.

was worried at first when play.com got sold, but i must admit there are sellers on there that beat even amazon for prices and with free delivery, if you know what you are looking for, you just might get the price you want to pay, very good now

Ottimo sito per l'acquisto di videogiochi, purtroppo in italia spediscono solo dischi, ma hanno ottimi prezzi anche sull'elettronica.
le spedizioni in italia impiegano circa 2 settimane.

After 3 months the CD has never turned up.They do not reply to emails.
I am having to do charge back thru my credit card company.

I have ordered many things from play.com over the years. They are usually a good place to get presents for my family where I can purchase a few different items and place them in one carriage charge.

I sometimes struggle to get the previous season of NCIS or Bones for my father in law. This was the case recently when I tried various local shops and was running out of time before his birthday. Then it hit me...Play.com might have it. And as luck would have it, I was able to grab NCIS on a next day delivery service, cheaper than it would have been if it were in stock at a local retailer.

Needless to say, Another good save by these guys.

Jeg har handlet her mange gange (50+) og er svært begejstret for den gratis fragt. Jeg har haft lidt bøvl med en meget langsom og svært kontaktbar kundeservice hvis der har været problemer, men det er måske 5% af gangene der har været problemer. Jeg ville dog ikke bestille dyre ting her, da det ikke virker somom de kreerer sig ret meget om kunderne når varen først er sendt afsted. Men altså, til mindre ting til under 20 euros er de meget fine.

This company does not even have the decency to respond to email complaints. I ordered and paid for a sound bar from Avides. through play.com. They sent me a lower spec model which I returned and I requested they send me the correct model which I had paid for on line. They refused to send it and claimed play.com had made a mistake in the listing and had underpriced the model which I had ordered and paid for. Despite emails to both Avides and play.com requesting they honour their contract, they refunded my credit card payment after 3 weeks which meant I was short a Christmas present and too late to get sale prices elsewhere. Play.com did not even reply to my emails and in my opinion both companies breached the distance selling laws.

Useless full of third party merchants who sell grey imports with no warranty in the uk. My item got lost and play. Com where useless at trying to recover my 600 pounds. Had to contact bank and get a charge back avoid this site and carefully check who your buying from in most cases your item comes from the far East

I remember the days when Play could rival amazon in the UK as often their service and delivery times we're better and they dispatched themselves, these days they rely on third party merchants to deliver all their stock, which quite frankly means they are a lazy money making operation who puts their wallets before customer service, I ordered two things from there one came quickly the other I am still waiting for after 2 weeks. To inconsistent to consider shopping here again.
Play what happened to you!!??

They have stole my money after the product got sent back because and I quote the full delivery charge was not paid on the product even when I was charged delivery by play and they never gave me a refund or any explanation, I am £13.00 down because of play.com with no explanation, no willingness to help and no refund.

Keine Ahnung, warum hier so viele schlechte Kritiken zu play.com stehen - ich bestell dort recht oft was (vor allem cds) und hatte bisher noch nie Schwierigkeiten. Vielleicht hatte ich auch einfach Glück. Es stimmt allerdings, dass vor allem Drittanbieter ihre Artikel dort verkaufen - das war früher nicht so. Ich bin auf jeden Fall zufrieden...
